Chapter 33#
Yan Heqing entered the Grand Auditorium. The huge auditorium was almost full, with only a few scattered seats in the last few rows.
Yan Heqing found an empty seat and sat down.
Fu Helang ran in shortly after. He looked around and quickly spotted Yan Heqing.
There were people sitting on both sides of Yan Heqing. Fu Helang used his schoolbag to occupy a seat in the back row and said “excuse me” all the way.
When he got close to Yan Heqing’s seat, he bent down and whispered to the girl on Yan Heqing’s left. The girl readily changed seats.
Fu Helang was full of thanks, reached out to take back his schoolbag, and then sat down.
“Student Yan, have a drink of water.” Fu Helang took out a bottle of juice from his schoolbag. He was a few minutes late just to buy the drink.
Yan Heqing also took out a water bottle from his bag, which was half-drunk cool boiled water. He declined politely, “I don’t drink beverages.”
Fu Helang quickly put away the drink and grinned, showing his white teeth, “I don’t drink beverages or cola much either. Drinking water is better for the body.”
At this time, the entire auditorium suddenly boiled over, and some people screamed in low voices, “So young! So handsome!”
Yan Heqing looked up.
They were very far apart, one on the distant stage and the other in the second to last row. He only saw a tall and straight figure, wearing a simple black suit today.
Fu Helang sighed along, “He made it to the international rich list at such a young age. That’s amazing. No wonder he’s the only straight-A student in the school’s history.”
He suddenly turned his head. In the dim light and shadow, the boy’s eyelashes were excessively long.
Fu Helang suddenly blushed and whispered, “Student Yan, your grades are so excellent, you can definitely get straight A’s too.”
Yan Heqing looked sideways slightly and put a finger to his lips, “The speech is starting.”
“Oh!” Fu Helang quickly sat up straight. His heart beat several times faster than usual because he had just met the boy’s eyes.
At this time on the stage, Lu Lin adjusted the microphone. The auditorium was packed. Looking around, it was a sea of people, young students.
For a moment of distraction, Yan Heqing was also such a young student.
Lu Lin withdrew his mind and began his speech.
The content was much the same, some inspiring chicken soup for the soul about entrepreneurship.
However, Lu Lin’s voice was deep and magnetic, his appearance was superior, and he was a legendary academic god of Peking University. Every time he finished speaking, besides thunderous applause, there were also cheers rising one after another from the audience.
Lin Fengzhi sat in the first row, right in the middle.
His seat was so close to Lu Lin, so close that he had never been so satisfied watching Lu Lin for such a long time.
“Really so handsome.”
There were small whispers next door. Lin Fengzhi felt both proud and jealous hearing them.
He wanted Lu Lin to belong to him alone.
Adoring and admiring, Lin Fengzhi looked at Lu Lin greedily throughout the speech, reluctant to even blink.
After the half-hour speech ended, there was a half-hour Q&A session for students.
The students were very enthusiastic, raising their hands one after another. The questions asked were also varied, and some individual questions were very sharp and biting.
Lin Fengzhi kept his hand raised high. Near the end, the teacher calling on students finally called him, “The student in the middle of the first row. Yes, it’s you, the one in blue.”
Lin Fengzhi was very excited and stood up immediately, his pupils shining with persistent light, “I want to ask Uncle Lu… Senior, do you have someone you like or are dating?”
The Grand Auditorium instantly became lively, with many screams.
It was also at this time that Yan Heqing knew Lin Fengzhi had also come. Fu Helang next door glanced at Yan Heqing and seized the time to strike up a conversation, “A successful person like Senior Lu must have someone he is dating.”
Yan Heqing didn’t reply. Carrying his schoolbag, he looked sideways slightly and said, “I’m leaving first.” He got up and left from the other side.
Fu Helang also quickly grabbed his schoolbag and followed.
It was also at this time that Lu Lin answered on stage, “I don’t answer personal questions.”
Lin Fengzhi was instantly disappointed, but he was also a little joyful that Lu Lin spoke to him.
After answering the last question, Lu Lin left the stage.
The speech ended, and the students in the Grand Auditorium also walked out talking and laughing. It wasn’t until Lu Lin’s back could no longer be seen that Lin Fengzhi came back to his senses, turned around anxiously, ran into the crowd, and squeezed forward anxiously, “Excuse me, please make way…”
Lu Lin left through the side door. The president of Peking University wasn’t there. The vice president, the director, and several teachers escorted him to the parking lot, chatting about the upcoming cooperation project along the way.
Just about to leave the auditorium, passing through a hall, Lu Lin suddenly stopped and looked at the photo wall on the left.
The vice president was a little strange, but still smiled and introduced, “These are photos of the top five freshmen over the years. Yours is there too.”
The director also smiled and signaled everyone to look at the first photo on the top right, “President Lu’s photo is there. It just happened to start from his year. He was only 18 at that time.”
The director sighed, “Time flies so fast.”
Everyone looked over. Lu Lin looked at the bottom left. The assistant noticed and also glanced there.
Soon Lu Lin withdrew his gaze and walked out again.
A group of people quickly caught up.
At the parking lot, the vice dean and the director had no intention of leaving first. Lu Lin looked at the assistant. The assistant understood immediately. He stepped forward and exchanged a few polite words with them before the vice dean and the others left.
Only then did the assistant ask Lu Lin: “President Lu, do you want to stroll around the school?”
Lu Lin nodded and said: “Next year’s scholarship, give it to the Biology Department of Peking University.”
The assistant understood. He had just seen Yan Heqing on the photo wall. It turned out he was a top student of Peking University and also in the Biology Department. However, since Lu Lin didn’t mention it, he couldn’t say it directly, so he confirmed indirectly: “Do you need to specify a certain student?”
Lu Lin denied it, “No need.”
Yan Heqing could get the scholarship based on his own ability.
The assistant secretly admired in his heart. As expected of his boss, even giving money away was done so comfortably.
The university scholarships set up by the Lu Group were extremely generous. Even the tenth place could cover four years of tuition and living expenses. Being able to get on the photo wall with entrance exam scores, getting into the top ten should be very easy.
“You go back first.” Lu Lin opened the car door and took his phone, “I—”
“Uncle Lu!” Before he finished speaking, someone interrupted him.
Lu Lin looked sideways and saw a boy rushing over, reaching out to block the car door.
This time Lin Fengzhi didn’t even catch his breath and introduced himself first, “Uncle Lu, my name is Lin Fengzhi, my dad is Lin Youxiang!”
He would remember him this time, right!
Lu Lin swept over his eyebrows and eyes and asked indifferently: “What is it?”
Lin Fengzhi’s gaze was burning. He took a deep breath, “Can I get a ride? I have an urgent matter to rush home. It’s hard to call a car now. I’ve been calling for a long time…” To show that his words were credible, he also took out his phone, and the page was indeed a ride-hailing page.
Lu Lin took out his phone, didn’t look at Lin Fengzhi again, and instructed the assistant, “Send him home.”
The assistant responded.
Lin Fengzhi was just happy when he saw Lu Lin close the car door and leave. He was stunned immediately.
The assistant stepped forward a few steps, opened the car door again, and said politely: “Please.”
——
Leaving the Grand Auditorium and walking to the left was a relatively quiet path. Both sides were planted with wintersweet. The goose-yellow petals were blooming well. Some were knocked down by the rain last night, and there were many fallen flowers on the ground.
Fu Helang quickly caught up with Yan Heqing. Through his down jacket, his chest was still heaving slightly, “Student Yan, it’s past three o’clock. Are you hungry? Let me treat you to a meal.”
Yan Heqing refused, “I’m not hungry.”
Fu Helang bit the corner of his mouth and finally spoke, “Then can I add you on WeChat? I developed a small software and want you to take a look and give some advice.” The latter sentence was the excuse he found.
At this time, a gust of cold wind blew, and a few more flowers fell from the wintersweet tree. Yan Heqing replied calmly, “If it’s just to look at the software, yes. But for anything else, I’m sorry, I have to refuse you.”
Fu Helang was stunned. He didn’t expect Yan Heqing to refuse so bluntly. He finally boldly asked: “Do you like girls?”
Yan Heqing glanced at Fu Helang. This glance was unremarkable, without even the slightest emotion. However, Fu Helang’s heart tightened inexplicably, and he unconsciously added another sentence, “You don’t like boys?”
Yan Heqing’s tone was very light, just like today’s weather, “I don’t like you.”
Fu Helang left.
The tall and bright big boy almost bumped into a trash can when he left. He turned back and smiled somewhat awkwardly, “I didn’t pay attention.” Then he wiped his somewhat red eyes, lifted his feet and walked very fast, finally running.
Yan Heqing withdrew his gaze and turned to leave, but stopped the moment he looked up. Not far away, the man didn’t know how long he had been standing there.
Lu Lin actually hadn’t been there for long. He walked leisurely for a while and saw the familiar back, only hearing that sentence, “I don’t like you.”
Yan Heqing was actually a little surprised to see Lu Lin.
This time it really wasn’t intentional. He just simply wanted to listen to Lu Lin’s speech.
Lu Lin walked towards him first, “I was also a Peking University student once.”
Yan Heqing nodded, “I know, I just finished listening to your speech.”
Lu Lin asked: “How did it feel?”
Yan Heqing thought for a while, “If tickets were charged, I wouldn’t spend money.”
An unexpectedly honest answer. Lu Lin looked deeply at Yan Heqing, “I came to give a speech for free too.”
“Then it’s still worth ten yuan.” Yan Heqing looked at the sky. It was a bit dark, as if it was going to rain, “Do you have time? I can treat you to something worth ten yuan.”
Lu Lin suddenly smiled, “Yes.”
Having not been here for many years, Lu Lin still knew the way. Arriving at the intersection, a few minutes further ahead was the main gate.
At this time, Yan Heqing suddenly grabbed his left arm, “Mr. Lu, take the small side door on the other side.”
Lu Lin looked sideways slightly. The boy’s hand was slender and snow-white, but still rough as always. He looked away, “I remember the food street is opposite the school gate.”
“Yes.” Yan Heqing nodded, “But my creditor is at the main gate.”
Lu Lin turned sideways this time, his dark eyes meeting Yan Heqing’s gaze. The corners of the boy’s mouth curled up slightly, “I have many creditors. Did you forget? You are also my creditor.”
Lu Lin’s eyebrows condensed slightly, “Do they often come to school to find you?”
“Probably.” Yan Heqing didn’t care. He didn’t let go of Lu Lin and pulled him to turn to another small path.
“Do you need help?” Lu Lin considered.
“Thank you for your kindness.” In the light-colored pupils, intoxicating flowing light flickered. Yan Heqing curved his eyes, “Just some small troubles, I can handle them quickly myself.”
He never let go of Lu Lin.
“Let’s go quickly, Mr. Lu. That shop sells out very fast.”
