Chapter 7#

Dating Variety Show#

“I saw the trending searches.” Mo Xuzhi extended his five fingers, looking down at the pale blue veins on the back of his hand, and asked, “Who is that person?”

“How come you’ve started caring about these things?” Luo Wenyun raised an eyebrow and reached out to brush back a strand of stray hair from his forehead. “Not just talking about money, but want to talk about feelings too?”

Mo Xuzhi gave a polite smile: “Confidence is also a form of beauty.”

He would talk about feelings with anyone, but never with Luo Wenyun.

On the surface, Luo Wenyun appeared to be a reserved and elegant person, but in reality, he was more insane than anyone. His feelings were indifferent to an eerie degree, and when his “sickness” acted up, he could reach a point of abandoning everything and losing himself.

In the novel, Luo Wenyun’s setting was a gentle and wealthy movie star, madly in love with Shen Le. However, through actual contact, Mo Xuzhi could be certain that Luo Wenyun didn’t have such deep feelings for Shen Le.

—Or rather, Shen Le held no significant meaning to him.

“Shen Le, that person is Shen Le.” Luo Wenyun pretended not to understand the meaning in Mo Xuzhi’s words and said with a smile, “Shen Le is the person I like.”

“…”

Mo Xuzhi didn’t make a sound upon hearing this, only looked away and thought silently.

Luo Wenyun’s behavior was very abnormal.

Firstly, his personality didn’t match the original text. This could barely be explained by the world consciousness making minor adjustments to the world itself.

But even stranger was that Luo Wenyun clearly didn’t care about Shen Le, yet at every important plot turning point, he always managed to play his part well. In the role of a deeply affectionate pursuer, he would settle Shen Le’s messes, keeping his actions consistent with the original text and allowing the plot to proceed smoothly.

Like now, he could say he “likes Shen Le” in a teasing, nonchalant tone.

This current plot point was a relatively important one in the original text. Luo Wenyun straightforwardly telling him he liked Shen Le would lead to him causing all sorts of trouble for Shen Le once the variety show began filming, thereby giving Shen Le various opportunities to shine.

Despite Luo Wenyun’s casual attitude, he indeed stepped firmly on the plot line.

“Are you two together?” Mo Xuzhi finally replied after a while.

Luo Wenyun let out a sneer: “No.”

How could Shen Le be with him.

Shen Le saw himself as the protagonist of the world, enjoying the adoration from him and other men. Obsessed with this kind of life, he wouldn’t bind himself to any single man.

Such a move would be too foolish for him.

“Oh, then it’s fine,” Mo Xuzhi smiled at Luo Wenyun. “Pursue him if you want. I can only give up for love and go develop new clients.”

Luo Wenyun laughed instead of getting angry.

The little heartless one, eyes only for money.

“When can you get out of bed?”

Mo Xuzhi tucked his slightly cold hands into the quilt to warm them and said lazily: “The day after tomorrow, I guess. The doctor said I can do a moderate amount of activity.”

“I’ll pick you up the day after tomorrow morning,” Luo Wenyun said. “Five hundred thousand, to buy your morning.”

Mo Xuzhi’s fingertips under the quilt twitched.

He said: “Okay.”

Luo Wenyun knew Mo Xuzhi would agree; hearing this answer, he didn’t even move an eyebrow.

What Mo Xuzhi wanted was money. As long as he had money, Mo Xuzhi would be the person who cared about him most and was closest to him.

No matter what request he made, Mo Xuzhi would always agree.

As long as he had enough money.

Luo Wenyun stood up, adjusted his cuffs, and leaned down to tidy Mo Xuzhi’s rolled-up collar, completely covering those striking snowy collarbones.

“I’m leaving now. Get some rest.”

Mo Xuzhi nodded while yawning.

Click.

With a crisp sound, the black suit trousers disappeared at the door.

Mo Xuzhi lay on the bed, his eyes vacant.

He had to go to “work” again the day after tomorrow.

If he really had to compare, Mo Xuzhi felt that accompanying Luo Wenyun was more tiring than filming.

Accompanying Luo Wenyun was like playing Minesweeper; you never knew if it would explode the next second.

Thinking of how Shen Le in the original text turned into a “little white flower” to actively hook up with Luo Wenyun, Mo Xuzhi felt that this guy was truly a ruthless person.

…What did he need to prepare for accompanying Luo Wenyun the day after tomorrow?

Forget it, no need to prepare anything. He would meet all changes with constancy.

Pondering these idle things, Mo Xuzhi’s eyelids gradually grew heavy, and his vision eventually became dark, matching the sky.

Mo Xuzhi was woken up by someone.

As soon as he opened his eyes, Mo Xuzhi saw a blurry silhouette by the bed before his eyes were stung by the light.

He hurriedly closed his eyes again.

“Sorry, is the light too piercing? I’ll adjust it immediately.”

The person’s voice was very gentle, with a sweetness unique to young women that made one unconsciously relax.

The light changed from bright white to soft yellow.

Although Xue Feng had only visited him once and clearly didn’t care about him at all, the ward he arranged was unexpectedly good. All aspects of the facilities were complete, even down to details like the lighting that were hard to notice.

The girl adjusted the light a bit more before reminding Mo Xuzhi to open his eyes.

Mo Xuzhi was slightly confused.

“May I ask who you are…?”

“My name is Zhou Jingrou, the caregiver Mr. Xue found for you.” Zhou Jingrou gave a sweet smile and said, “Sorry for disturbing your rest just now. It’s dinner time; you need to eat on time to recover faster.”

Such a young caregiver?

Mo Xuzhi also politely stated his name. While Zhou Jingrou went to get dinner, he picked up his phone to check messages and saw the one from Xue Feng’s assistant.

The assistant had sent a message this afternoon saying he had found a caregiver for him and told him to recover in peace.

The assistant also said he would come tomorrow to take him to the old Xue family residence to find his belongings. Afterward, he would be responsible for sending the items to the river-view apartment Xue Feng gave him, in the name of making his life more convenient.

It would be troublesome to have daily necessities scattered here and there, wouldn’t it?

Mo Xuzhi simply laughed.

Good heavens, Xue Feng really lived up to his reputation as a scum.

As soon as he saw Shen Le return, he couldn’t wait to kick him out, even making up some lame excuses to save face.

Only Xue Feng could do something like this.

Tomorrow he had to pack things, the day after tomorrow he’d play Minesweeper, and a few days after that, he’d have to compete on stage with Shen Le and Luo Wenyun. Just thinking about it made him feel that life was beautiful, the sun was shining, spring flowers were blooming, and he was ready to ascend to heaven on the spot.

Fortunately, he hadn’t lived in the old Xue family residence for long—only a few times when the plot required it. He didn’t have many things, so it wouldn’t take much time.

While Mo Xuzhi was still lying on the bed staring blankly at the ceiling, Zhou Jingrou walked to the bedside with a bowl of lean meat porridge and skillfully pulled up the small table attached to the bed.

Although the porridge looked a bit bland, it smelled quite fragrant. Mo Xuzhi happened to be hungry. After saying thanks, he quietly ate the porridge.

Zhou Jingrou didn’t disturb him. After briefly tidying up, she pulled the door shut and went out.

Mo Xuzhi slowly ate the porridge, watching the rising steam, his eyes vacant.

As it turned out, Mo Xuzhi didn’t get to enjoy his personal time for long before Zhou Jingrou returned, bringing someone with her.

A nurse stood at the door pushing a wheelchair. Sitting in it was a tall youth with long legs. Even the hospital gown couldn’t hide his vigorous youthful energy. The door was half-open. He didn’t look around but slightly tilted his head; from Mo Xuzhi’s angle, he could only see half of his profile.

It was that kid from before.

And he wasn’t just ordinary good-looking.

This person was fair-skinned with thin eyelids. He looked a bit cold when looking at people, but when his eyes drooped, he looked inexplicably endearing.

Just like a big puppy.
