Continuing on, Jin Yu disappeared for another month after that day. Guess where we met again?
It was actually in our company!!!
Novels wouldn’t dare to write like this…
It was that competition I mentioned. Didn’t the boss invite some company executives and his friends to watch? Jin Yu was one of his friends.
I felt he looked much more spirited after not seeing him for a while, completely different from the last time at his restaurant. He was wearing a suit, sitting in the judges’ seat in high spirits. He was also surprised when he saw me, but immediately smiled at me, and I nodded to him too.
Quite a few people from our company signed up. After all, the opportunity for overseas training is rare, and the success rate is about 3%.
Everyone had only five minutes to present their product. I felt everyone was so amazing (shivering in the corner…).
I have always admired those who are not nervous when speaking in public and can talk eloquently. I have been afraid of this since I was a child. The occasion was very formal that day, and I was quite nervous.
When I started presenting the first two pages of the PPT, I was almost reading from the script. Because my brain short-circuited, I forgot the prepared words. I guess everyone in the venue could see that I was very nervous.
When I turned to the third page, I paused for a while because there was no text on that page, and I forgot the script.
Then I spent the most awkward few seconds of my life… silence (Sigh, don’t know if you understand this feeling, wanted to dig a hole and crawl in >_<).
Then there was a round of applause from below, started by Jin Yu, and some people from our group.
At this time, I just happened to glance at Old Wang’s disdainful expression, the kind of high-and-mighty attitude of “see, I knew you couldn’t do it”.
In an instant, I was pumped up, thinking screw you, I’m going all out.
Then I treated this presentation as an ordinary discussion meeting with team members, speaking clearly and logically. After finishing, everyone was applauding. Whether out of politeness or really thinking my product was good, I was very grateful.
Our competition started in the morning, and basically everyone finished presenting by noon. Then the boss announced that six projects were affirmed by everyone, and they wanted to add a Q&A session for these six projects in the afternoon before finally deciding which three would win.
I originally thought there was no hope, after all, I dropped the ball at the beginning. Unexpectedly, I actually made it to the top six!!!
So happy, right!
Then I had to prepare for the Q&A session. I ate a little casually at noon, thinking in the office about what questions everyone might ask and how I should answer.
Around two o’clock in the afternoon, Jin Yu sent me a text message, raising a few questions he was worried about regarding my product. At the end, he said these are probably the questions all customers would care about when developing products.
Hmm, actually it’s nothing more than customer demand, implementation difficulty, and circulation degree.
Not considered cheating, right? I thought of all these.
So I replied with a thank you.
Then he sent another message asking if I wanted to have dinner together in the evening.
I refused because I had agreed to have dinner with team members in the evening.
He sent another message asking, what about tomorrow?
I thought about it. Didn’t we say we would be friends? And he hadn’t looked for me for a long time, probably didn’t have that kind of intention anymore, so I agreed.
In the afternoon Q&A session, Old Wang asked me n questions about customer experience. I clearly just answered, and he asked again in a different way. Sigh, probably he thinks the biggest problem with my product is customer experience.
Finally, the boss was speechless and retorted him: He just answered, listen carefully.
The final result didn’t come out that day. I still had hope, after all, it’s a 50% chance!
The next day dining with Jin Yu, we didn’t meet at his private kitchen restaurant. After all, thinking about his cousin suddenly appearing last time felt weird no matter how I thought about it.
Our chat content was very normal. He didn’t flirt with me anymore, and we also talked about work matters.
He asked me if I provoked Old Wang in the company, as he was always targeting me yesterday.
I shook my head helplessly and roughly explained the politics in our office.
Jin Yu curled his lips disdainfully and said: “He is notoriously disgusting in the circle, sexually assaulting subordinates. Stay away from him.”
“Is it true?” I asked in surprise, “Then why does my boss still keep him?”
“Because he is considered capable, and having stayed for so many years, he knows some company secrets,” Jin Yu said, “Your boss is not stupid, he has plans on what to do.”
“Oh.” I felt I knew some amazing secret.
Later, just last month, the company fired Old Wang for leaking company secrets, saying they would go through legal procedures. I don’t know how it will develop specifically.
However, sure enough, if you do evil, you can’t live, haha.
Regarding my competition, in the end, I didn’t make it to the top three, but being in the top six satisfied me. This is not a small encouragement for me. I am still young, there are plenty of opportunities.
Heard from friends that Pei Hao returned to City X and joined his dad’s company. So he appears at my door from time to time to find a sense of existence.
I didn’t expect him to go this far. It seems after I gave up, he suddenly became a different person. It’s just too late now, really too late…

By the way, when I went out for breakfast today, I met Fu Yan. He was with a beautiful girl, should be his girlfriend.
He greeted me actively and even sat opposite me…
Below please enjoy an awkward conversation:
Fu: You came out for breakfast alone? Where is Pei Hao?
Me: ??? We broke up.
Fu Yan’s face changed several expressions within a few seconds. First shocked, then confused, finally frowning.
Fu: He seems to have come back to work for you. I thought you guys were back together.
Me: No, we broke up. This time it’s real.
Fu Yan scratched his forehead. I felt he was a bit embarrassed to look at me. But his girlfriend stared at me with wide eyes while listening to us talk.
What does this mean? Having a gossipy heart?
Fu Yan didn’t speak for a while. He was digesting this fact.
So his girlfriend chatted awkwardly with me about random things.
At the end, when I was about to leave, Fu Yan stopped me with a serious expression: “How about you consider it again? He is definitely serious this time. He used to say he didn’t want to return to City X to be controlled by his dad, now he came back for you…”
“Oh.” I shrugged, indicating it’s none of my business.
So Fu Yan shut up.
Then I went home.
It seems Fu Yan is really straight, so this is probably the main reason why he and Pei Hao didn’t get together.
Sigh, why am I thinking about these now.
Slipping away, slipping away.
[1st Floor] Qing Qing: Sure enough, Fu Yan is straight.
…………
[5th Floor] Tofu Soup le: I want to hear the melodramatic story of Jin Yu and his cousin (Eager.jpg).
[6th Floor] Chen Studying Medicine: If Fu Yan wasn’t straight, what chance would Xiaoxi have? Scumbag Pei negative score get out.

The biggest impact of this competition on me was strengthening my determination to study abroad. First, after working for more than a year, I realized the importance of learning and progress. Second, I really want to do work related to games (not very possible in the current company). And mainly because Pei Hao is too annoying.
I didn’t know I wanted to go out so much before. Thinking carefully now, it’s because of being poor $_$ (and that person).
Hmm, I roughly checked, American schools are not all very expensive. I save more salary, then borrow some from my dad, work part-time there, it should be okay. So I updated less recently because I was busy memorizing English.
Friends who are still in college, work hard to learn more now, because once you start working, doing something in your spare time feels so tired! (Of course, if your family has a mine, pretend I didn’t say it ;-) ).
Now my family knows I’m preparing to go abroad. As for friends, only Jin Yu knows. I didn’t tell my former friends because I was afraid they would tell Pei Hao.
Jin Yu and I are really just friends now. He also supports me going out to see. When I said I was preparing to go abroad, his reaction was particularly calm.
He said he could help me edit my personal statement. Because he actively flirted with me before and then gave up, he felt this was compensation for my mental loss.
At first, I was half-believing. A company plus restaurant boss writing a personal statement for me? And can he really do it?
I secretly prepared to find an agency.
But, you don’t know until you try. After trying, I found his English is too excellent!
He knows what kind of personal statement foreign universities want to see. The edited draft highlighted the key points, and the logic was much smoother.
Then I learned that he did his undergraduate studies at a top university abroad.
So people being bosses is really because of capability, not because of good reincarnation (maybe reincarnation was good too).
Later that melodramatic thing happened.
The cause was Cheng Yi, Jin Yu’s cousin, asking me out for dinner.
I don’t know how he got my phone number. Anyway, one day he suddenly called, saying he wanted to ask me some things about Jin Yu.
I was a bit confused. My inner monologue was: Why ask me about your brother’s affairs?
But I was still very polite and said: Just ask on the phone if you have any questions.
He: No, have to ask in person.
Me: I don’t know Jin Yu very well either. I definitely don’t know as much as you.
He: If you don’t want to eat, then which day should I go to your company to find you?
I always felt Cheng Yi didn’t have a good impression of me. Weighing the pros and cons, it’s better not to let him appear at my company.
Then I agreed to have dinner with him. Anyway, what could he do to me? Sigh, thinking about it now, I was really too young too naive.
The place to eat was a hot pot restaurant, booked by him. That hot pot restaurant was full, so I had to queue. When it was almost our turn, Cheng Yi arrived unhurriedly.
Me: ……
Cheng Yi still dressed very nicely. No, it’s because he is good-looking originally.
But the feeling he gives me is like a rose with thorns, poisonous water.
Looking purely harmless on the outside, but in reality, hehe.
He kept playing with his phone in his hand until I finished ordering, then looked up to talk to me.
This person is really impolite. For the sake of him being Jin Yu’s cousin, I endure…
“My brother calls you Xiaoxi?” He smiled at me, revealing two sweet dimples. If not for the dislike in his eyes, I would almost think I misunderstood him before.
“Hmm.” I nodded.
He turned his head and blinked at me, asking: “Do you like him?”
Me: … This question is ambiguous. Which kind of like do you mean?
He: Whatever kind of like you have for him, that’s the kind I mean.
Me: As a friend, I like him.
Hearing this sentence, he snorted, curled his lips disdainfully, and his tone started to worsen: “Then what about Pei Hao? What kind of like for him?”
I looked at him incredulously. He actually knew Pei Hao!!
I was full of doubts: “How do you know him?”
“Don’t be afraid of others knowing what you’ve done yourself,” he no longer concealed his disgust for me, admitting very generously, “I sent people to investigate and follow you.”
First time seeing someone talk about stalking so righteously! And it’s also my first time being stalked! (Except Pei Hao).
Simply inexplicable. What shameful things have I done?
I was angry, and my voice raised a lot: “On what basis do you stalk me?”
“On the basis that my brother said he likes you,” he threw a pile of photos on the table calmly, smiled slightly, but his eyes were full of contempt, “But you are not worthy.”
What is called a dagger hidden in a smile, a needle hidden in cotton, I have seen it.
“What’s wrong with you?” I was speechless. Would your brother like someone and not contact them for a month?
“You hang onto my brother on one hand, asking him to help you with this and that, and meet your old lover privately on the other.” He spread out the photos on the table, flipping them one by one for me to see. Basically, they were photos of Pei Hao talking to me downstairs at my house recently. The person taking photos was a bit far from us, specifically capturing photos where Pei Hao and I looked intimate (actually we were quarreling, or rather Pei Hao unilaterally wanted to be intimate).
“I didn’t, your brother and I…” Hearing this, I knew he misunderstood me.
“These photos were taken by people I hired recently,” he interrupted me impatiently, mocking, “You have to meet my brother during the day and your old lover at night. Really hard work.”
My hands were tightly clenched into fists, feeling my personality was insulted.
I was very angry: “You’d better figure out the relationship between your brother and me before coming to bb in front of me.”
“Stop pretending. My brother buys your act, I don’t.”
He stood up slowly from the seat, looked me up and down, quickly picked up a water container with one hand (probably containing the amount of five cups of water), and splashed it on my head with a splash.
Fast, ruthless, accurate.
Cold water flowed down my scalp. My eyes and nose were all water. The people eating hot pot in the whole restaurant quieted down, turning their heads to look at us like watching a show.
[1st Floor] Cheerleader Captain: ??????
[2nd Floor] Your Shadow: WTF, Jin Yu’s brother is really sick.
