I sat on the bed spacing out, and unknowingly fell asleep. When I woke up, I found it was already the next morning. I don’t know when I was covered with a quilt, probably Pei Hao did it.
It seemed Pei Hao didn’t go back all night, busy banging around outside, seemingly making breakfast. After a while, he pushed open the door of my room and whispered: “Xiaoxi, come out for breakfast.”
I glanced at him and didn’t answer his words, as if he were a mass of air.
Pei Hao walked into the room, sat next to me, and carefully touched my arm: “Eat a little, otherwise your stomach will be uncomfortable again later.”
I sat numbly on the bed, closed my eyes, with no reaction. At this moment, I didn’t want to talk to him at all, not even half a word.
“Sorry, I shouldn’t have treated you like that yesterday. I’m also sorry for the past things. Give me one chance, I will compensate you for everything. If you still don’t believe me now, then let me pursue you again. But you can’t be with others, absolutely not.” Pei Hao stood up from the bed, his voice getting more and more excited: “As soon as I see you with others… I can’t control myself. I wish I could cut him into eight pieces. Why does he deserve to touch you!”
“Sorry Xiaoxi, I may be very selfish. You can ask me to do anything, but I just can’t let go of you. Everywhere I go I see your shadow. Whatever I do I think of you. I can’t forget you.”
I opened my eyes. The morning sun shone in through the window. In such good weather, I didn’t want to hear Pei Hao say these things. I looked through him listlessly, looking ahead, and said lightly: “You go.”
Pei Hao untied the apron on his body, sighed slightly, and said helplessly: “Then I’ll go first, remember to eat.”
After Pei Hao left, I lay on the bed with my eyes closed and didn’t move. Until the phone screen on the side flashed a few times, I picked up the phone. Jin Yu’s call was flashing on the screen. Because it was on silent mode, I didn’t notice it before. I thought for a moment, put the phone aside again, and let it ring.
Whether it’s to express my attitude or just chat, I feel very tired and just want to be alone for a while.
Jin Yu is not Pei Hao. Jin Yu knows when to advance and retreat, and won’t disturb me too much. The phone stopped ringing after a while.
I felt a bit hungry, walked to the kitchen and ate a few mouthfuls of the meal Pei Hao made. He actually remembered what I like to eat, which surprised me a bit. Maybe those five years were not just my five years alone, but more or less left a mark on him too.
After breakfast, I took a shower. After breaking up with Pei Hao, frequent insomnia made me look very haggard. I took a razor to shave the newly grown beard, looking at the person in the mirror, with dark circles under eyes, dull eyes, without a bit of youthful demeanor.
Where is that young man who loved to talk and laugh? Probably slowly worn away in this relationship. People who are too brave in love have only two endings, either reborn or broken bones. I wasn’t very lucky and became the latter. Of course, all this is my own fault, no one else to blame. When deciding to start this relationship, I should have been prepared to be bruised all over.
The doorbell outside rang intermittently. I put down the razor, wiped my face clean with a towel, and walked out.
I originally thought Pei Hao came back again. Looking through the peephole, I saw it was Jin Yu. I was a bit surprised, not knowing why he suddenly came.
Opening the door, Jin Yu seemed to breathe a sigh of relief when he saw me. He was relieved, patted my shoulder and said: “Are you okay?”
“Ah? What’s wrong?” What could happen to me?
“I’ve been sending you WeChat messages and calling you since last night until this morning, and you didn’t reply to me,” Jin Yu was still panting, looking like he ran up, “I thought something happened to you.”
I felt a bit ashamed. After Pei Hao made such a scene last night, I completely forgot about the phone and fell asleep. I saw it in the morning, but didn’t want to answer. It turns out that besides my family, there are people who worry about me. Thinking about it, my heart felt a bit warm.
I patted my head embarrassedly: “Ah! Sorry, I fell asleep as soon as I came back yesterday, and the phone was on silent mode so I didn’t hear it.”
“It’s good that you are okay.” Jin Yu looked me up and down, chuckled: “You look quite cute in pajamas.”
Me: “……”
Is it really okay for a grown man to be praised as cute?
I scratched my hair, a bit overwhelmed, so I asked him: “Coming in?”
“Hmm.” Jin Yu walked in, changed shoes, looked at me and said: “Any plans for today?”
“Uh, no.” I guessed what Jin Yu was going to say next, so I added, “Reading books.”
“Then can I watch you at your home while you read?” Jin Yu had an ambiguous smile on his face and winked at me.
“Huh? How to watch?” Unexpectedly Jin Yu would say such things. I was a bit confused, so I said: “You go back.”
“No plans for today, going back is so boring!” Jin Yu leaned back, looking lazy, “You read your book, I’ll just play at your home. Or do you dislike me?”
“……” I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. Does this mean not leaving? You watching me at home, how can I read…
“Then… let’s go out.” I made a helpless move. Originally after what happened yesterday, I wanted to avoid Jin Yu for a while. Who knew he ran straight to my house the next day and refused to leave.
“Want to learn pottery? My friend opened a shop and asked me to go.” Jin Yu seemed to have anticipated my answer long ago and immediately gave an option.
“Okay.” I nodded, walked to the bedroom to change clothes, feeling like I was tricked by Jin Yu while changing, but it was too late to regret.
The pottery shop Jin Yu took me to was very big, with an elegant environment, but because it just opened, there were few people. The pottery teacher told us the basic operations and gave us the materials. It was my first time playing pottery, not very good at it. Jin Yu taught me step by step very patiently.
Time passed quickly. The pottery Jin Yu and I made were almost taking shape. At this time, Jin Yu’s phone rang. He glanced at it and had no intention of answering. The person on the other end was persistent, calling one after another.
I could feel that Jin Yu’s originally relaxed mood became irritable under the urging of these calls.
I looked at Jin Yu and asked: “Aren’t you going to answer?”
“It’s okay, call from home, must be my cousin calling.” Jin Yu shook his head and said, “The kid is just playful, nothing serious.”
Just after finishing speaking, a WeChat message came from there. Jin Yu glanced at it and immediately frowned. He picked up the phone, read it again, his frown deepening.
“Sorry, Xiaoxi. I have something to do, have to leave immediately. Apologize to you next time.” Jin Yu tore off the apron tied to his body, wiped the mud on his hands on the apron casually, took the phone and ran out with a panicked expression.
Everything happened in less than a minute. I sat on the chair, watching Jin Yu’s unfinished pottery still spinning on the turntable, but the person was gone, stunned. Looking at Jin Yu’s appearance, something big seemed to have really happened over there. However, I didn’t seem to be able to help, so I continued to finish mine, handed it to the pottery teacher, and then returned home.
Returning home in the afternoon, I sent a text message to Jin Yu, asking if everything was okay, but there was no reply. I thought he should be very busy now, so I didn’t call to disturb him.
I read a book at home for a while. Until night fell and the lights outside were all lit up, Jin Yu’s call came.
Jin Yu’s voice on the other end was a bit hoarse: “Xiaoxi, sorry for leaving too hurriedly today. I’ll treat you to dinner next time.”
“Are you okay?” I didn’t care about eating or not, just seeing his reaction today, afraid something happened to him.
“I’m fine.” Jin Yu’s voice lowered, “It’s my cousin, his condition worsened, just successfully resuscitated.”
“Oh oh that’s good.” I breathed a sigh of relief and said: “Then take good care of him.”
Jin Yu never told me about his family situation, but seeing Jin Yu’s flustered look today, their relationship should be very good.
“Hmm, I will accompany him recently.” Jin Yu sighed, “Find another chance to apologize to you next time.”
“It’s okay, the patient is the most important.” I thought about it, family’s life is of course the most important, so I said softly, “Talk later, you rest early.”
“Okay.”
