Mandala FLOWERS OF THE GALAXY#

Mandala Flowers of the Galaxy - The design is derived from a knitted mandala “Regina” by designer Herbert Niebling. The knitting pattern appeared in Neue Mode. Special thanks to Tatiana Abramova, who crocheted it. From her crochet work, I have written out the pattern so that more enthusiasts can crochet this design. So it is not my design. However, the pattern is from Handmade with Shaz.

THE PATTERN#

I wrote down both options for you. For the stitches of the clusters of 3 double crochets worked together and for the leaves the regular double crochets follow the text with the purple repeat.

If you want to crochet with relief double crochets and Popcorns, as I do in the video, you follow the text with the green repeat.

I’ve created a separator line from - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - so you know which one to follow. It’s pretty simple. If you crochet with a thin yarn, it may happen that a Popcorn of 3 double crochets is not enough and then you can crochet a Popcorn of 4 or 5 double crochets. This is a matter of taste and what you like. So live it up.

Special Stitches#

mind. van STK-VL-DDSTK-VL-1 Decrease of 2 stitches where the 1st stitch is a front post double crochet and the 2nd stitch is a triple double crochet worked as a front post.

This stitch is worked in round 4 where:

• The 1st stitch of this decrease is worked around the front post double crochet of round 3
• The 2nd stitch, the triple front post double crochet, is worked around the 2nd increase. You work the triple double crochet around the 1st stitch of the increased 2 double crochets in 1 stitch of round 3.

mind. van DDSTK-VL-STK-VL-1 Decrease of 2 stitches where the 1st stitch is a front post double crochet and the 2nd stitch is a triple double crochet worked as a front post.

Fan with Picot in the middle (Work around the chain space: 2 slip stitches, 3 double crochets, 2 extended double crochets, a Picot of 3 chains closed with a slip stitch in the loop of the extended double crochet, then continue in mirror image: 2 extended double crochets, 3 double crochets, 2 slip stitches)

• We work stitches around the chain ring.
• The 3 chains up count as 1 double crochet for the count.
• You have 8 double crochets
• B1 = Chain space of 1 chain.

• In round 6 we will work alternately 1 double crochet and 2 increases of 2 double crochets in 1 stitch.

• With the dec. of 3-dc-1 we work the 1st and 3rd leg between the stitches. The 2nd leg is worked in the top of the decrease of 2 double crochets from round 24.
