Chapter 72#
The corridors of the Imperial Prison were deep and long. The cold-toned lighting made this metal corridor appear even more pale and eerie.
Bai Mo walked slowly along the corridor.
The soles of his black boots were hard, and they made a crisp “clack—clack—” sound as they collided with the silver-white metal floor.
Aside from these echoing footsteps, there was no other sound in the empty metal corridor.
It was terrifyingly quiet.
Lu Xing was confined in the second-to-last cell, Cell 2.
At the far end of the corridor, the very last cell—Cell 1—was the place where Fu Yucheng had lived years ago. The structure of Cell 1 was very special, specifically designed to house extremely dangerous felons. For all these years, no second person had ever lived there.
Bai Mo walked to the door of Cell 2 and stopped.
He stood for a moment before reaching out his right hand and placing it on the palm-print scanner on the door.
The red scanning bar moved from top to bottom, finally emitting a crisp “beep—” and turning green: “Beep—Hello, Your Excellency. Identity confirmed. Door 2 is about to open. Please mind your step.”
Following the crisp electronic voice, the silver-gray metal prison door slid silently to the right.
Bai Mo took a light breath and stepped inside.
The cell was not large, and the furnishings were very simple—only a bed, a table, and a chair, along with a basic toilet and sink.
The once incomparably arrogant pseudo-crown prince, now the rebel Lu Xing, was sitting quietly on the edge of the bed. Around his neck was a silver-white mental power suppressor. His hands rested on his knees, and his blue prison uniform was worn neatly.
Sensing movement, Lu Xing slightly raised his eyelids and looked toward Bai Mo.
The prisoner’s bangs were a bit long now. Bai Mo couldn’t see his eyes clearly, but he could feel the bone-deep jealousy and hatred in the other’s gaze.
This made Bai Mo feel… a strange sense of pleasure.
“Why didn’t he come?” Lu Xing spoke expressionlessly, his voice deep and raspy.
Bai Mo said indifferently, “He’s busy. He doesn’t have the spare time.”
Lu Xing’s chest rose and fell slightly. He laughed self-deprecatingly, “That’s right. He’s now holding great power and is in high spirits. How could he possibly still remember someone like me… But, Bai Mo, how long do you think you can stay smug after he sits in that position? To him, you no longer have much utility value.”
Bai Mo stared at him, curling one side of his mouth extremely slowly: “He promised me.”
Lu Xing froze for a moment, seemingly not understanding: “What did he promise you?”
Bai Mo said word by word: “He promised me that he would not take a wife or marry… only me.”
Lu Xing stared blankly for a long time, then suddenly laughed: “Impossible. Someone like him, how could he… He’s lying to you. The situation hasn’t fully settled yet, so he has to keep you stable.”
“Believe it or not,” Bai Mo said coldly.
Lu Xing stared at him: “Bai Mo, how many years have you known him? I’ve known him for far too long. A person like him… ha, you’ll understand later.”
Bai Mo lowered his eyes and did not answer.
After a long while, he suddenly said: “That night, he went to the White Rose Palace. Did you get drunk and try to get handsy with him?”
“So what—” Lu Xing was about to say something, but then he paused and curled his lips in mockery, “Oh. So that’s what he told you? And you believed him?”
Bai Mo was irritated by that inexplicable smile: “Naturally, I believe him.”
“Then that’s that.” Lu Xing smiled, “Since that’s the case, why are you asking me?”
Bai Mo stared at him, silent for a long time.
While Lu Xing enjoyed the other’s fluctuating expression, he slowly spoke: “Actually, nothing much happened that night. It was just… revisiting old dreams.”
Bai Mo endured it, but eventually couldn’t hold back and asked through gritted teeth, “What old dreams? What exactly happened between you two before?”
“He didn’t tell you?” Lu Xing raised an eyebrow, “When he was fifteen, he picked up a thirteen-year-old me in the slums. Later, we both grew up, and I fell madly in love with him. You know, falling in love with him is simply too easy; you can’t control yourself at all.”
Bai Mo looked at him coldly.
“You don’t believe me? Well, let me be more specific. Back then, my mother was a whore, the lowest kind—living in the most dilapidated tin house in the slums, accepting even the most perverted customers. Every time she took a customer, she’d make me hide in the wardrobe. One day, I heard her scream from inside the wardrobe, so I used the surgical fixation nail from that customer’s spine to grind his spinal cord to pieces. He was a perverted old thug who happened to be on drugs that day. Later, a few police officers came, but the matter was just dropped.”
“By the way, I’ve been able to see and move things from a distance since I was a child. However, a mental power test cost 500 transaction coins, and my mother didn’t have that kind of spare cash. The commoners in the slums didn’t understand these things either, so my dispensable ability instead made other children think I was a monster.”
“Why are you telling me this? I’m not interested,” Bai Mo said coldly.
Lu Xing smiled: “Don’t be in a hurry; we’re getting to the part you’re interested in.”
He paused and continued: “One day, a group of brats cornered me in an alley and threw trash at me. There was a little fatty who was particularly strong. The edge of a soda can lid he threw was very sharp and cut my arm. At that moment, I suddenly got very angry. The curled iron lid of that soda can suddenly flew out and sliced across that little fatty’s neck—”
Bai Mo frowned: “You killed that child?”
Lu Xing shook his head: “No, I didn’t. Because that iron lid was caught with one hand by someone. That person looked at me and suddenly said: ‘That’s not how you use your power.’”
Bai Mo said softly: “It was him?”
Bai Mo didn’t specify, but Lu Xing naturally understood who he meant and nodded: “It was him. At that time, he was only fifteen, looking thin and scrawny, not much older than me. He chased those kids away and lectured me a bit, which I found annoying. Oh, he also gave me a few transaction coins. I didn’t care for those things at all and threw them all back at him, even hitting him in the eye.”
Bai Mo whispered: “You really didn’t know what was good for you.”
Lu Xing curled his lips: “Yes, I didn’t. But he seemed very interested in me and was very persistent, coming to the slums to find me time and again. He even promised my whore mother that I was very talented and that he wanted to take me to school to study mental power.”
He paused and laughed mockingly: “But my whore mother said I looked good and that in another year or two, I could also do that kind of ‘business,’ so she wouldn’t let him take me away. Unless he was willing to pay 5,000 transaction coins to buy me. Of course, he couldn’t produce that much money… I thought he would turn and leave. I was suddenly very afraid. I started cursing him for meddling in other people’s business. I thought that way, he would leave because I cursed him away, rather than because he gave up on me.”
Bai Mo whispered: “He wouldn’t leave.”
“You do know him well.” Lu Xing smiled, “He gave my whore mother a beating and ran away with me.”
“He pulled me along, running through various alleys. The wind was very loud. I wasn’t wearing shoes, and the soles of my feet were cut by something. It hurt, but I didn’t care. At that time, I felt like he was the legendary moon, destined to illuminate me… and I was also destined to follow the moon like this for a lifetime.”
“And then?” Bai Mo couldn’t help but ask.
“And then… he pestered a teacher to take me in. The teacher was a good person, but too mild-mannered and couldn’t control a wild kid like me at all. Every time I made a mistake, he would give me a brutal beating on the teacher’s behalf, without mercy. Several times, I was beaten so badly I couldn’t get out of bed. Tsk, he really was ruthless.”
Speaking of this, Lu Xing shook his head as if in lament, then continued: “Later, we both slowly grew up, and I naturally fell in love with him—you know that feeling, both fear and longing. At that time, for several years, he and I slept in the same room… Every night, I would pretend to fall asleep first, and once he was asleep, I’d secretly open my eyes to look at him.”
At this point, Lu Xing stopped, seemingly reminiscing about something, his lips curling up slightly.
Bai Mo said indifferently: “In that case, it was just unrequited love. He never promised you anything.”
Lu Xing was speechless. He stared at Bai Mo, an indescribable jealousy biting at his heart like a poisonous snake.
A deep malice rose in his heart, and he slightly curved his lips: “I haven’t finished yet. Fu Yucheng, although he’s heartless, is also quite clear about rewards and punishments… and will do whatever it takes to achieve his goals. He knew I liked him, so he kept dangling it in front of me, making all sorts of promises. Later, we did many great things together. On the day I turned eighteen, I led people to take down an important munitions factory. He was very happy and drank a lot of wine. That night, he let me have him.”
Bai Mo froze.
As if to provoke Bai Mo, Lu Xing ambiguously lowered his voice: “At that time, it was his first time. I was too young and naturally didn’t know any techniques. I tormented him so much he cried, begging me over and over, ‘Axing, gentler, slower…’”
Before Lu Xing could finish, there was a loud “Bang!!” Bai Mo gave him a vicious kick!
This kick was extremely forceful, sending Lu Xing flying from the edge of the bed onto the floor!
Lu Xing endured it, but ultimately couldn’t help it, letting out a “wah” as he vomited a pool of fresh blood.
Bai Mo wasn’t done with him. He stepped forward and stepped on the other’s neck, his eyes so red they seemed soaked in blood: “If you fucking talk nonsense again, I’ll cut out your tongue!”
The hard soles of the boots were very firm. Lu Xing was pinned firmly to the cold metal floor, his throat feeling waves of sweetness from the blood, almost unable to speak.
He didn’t care. While coughing, he looked at Bai Mo and laughed: “Cough, cough, you…”
Bai Mo’s crimson eyes were fixed on the other, his chest heaving violently. He almost wanted to crush this person’s throat! To make him never able to speak any more slanderous words!
After an unknown amount of time, Bai Mo finally closed his eyes, slowly released the other’s neck, and said hoarsely: “You don’t need to provoke me. I won’t believe it.”
Lu Xing coughed twice, slightly twisted his neck, and smiled nonchalantly: “If you think I’m talking nonsense, then so be it.”
He tilted his head and said softly: “Oh, by the way, he has a small mole on the inside of his left thigh. He doesn’t have many moles on his body, only one on his earlobe and one on his thigh—both are dark red and very beautiful. Those two spots of his are particularly sensitive. When you have time, you can check for yourself.”
“You’re fucking asking for death!!” Bai Mo could hardly restrain himself. He grabbed the other person and slammed him hard against the wall!
“Bang! Bang!!” He threw punch after punch, almost frantically, beating the other to death! The dull thuds were terrifying to hear!
“Haha…” Lu Xing didn’t beg for mercy; he just looked at the other and laughed, his face covered in blood.
After a long time, Lu Xing seemed to have completely lost consciousness, his head drooping.
Is he dead? Bai Mo suddenly snapped out of it, his grip loosening slightly.
Lu Xing slid down the wall and slumped onto the floor, his chest still rising and falling slightly.
Bai Mo stared intently at the unconscious Lu Xing, his teeth chattering, his entire body shaking uncontrollably.
In his mind, he couldn’t help but repeatedly play back Lu Xing’s mix of true and false filth. Then he’d think of Fu Yucheng smiling at him, and that inconspicuous small mole under his earlobe… He only felt a searing, boiling resentment crashing around in his chest, almost tearing his heart to pieces.
He had originally thought he could ignore those past things.
In reality, he couldn’t do it at all.
He didn’t know… didn’t know what to do.
After an unknown amount of time, Bai Mo finally closed his eyes tightly, turned abruptly, slammed the door shut with a “Bang!!”, and left.
After a long time, Lu Xing struggled to open his eyes.
Lying on the cold metal floor, he quietly looked at the silver ceiling, smiled mockingly, and whispered: “Are you jealous? Does it hurt? I wanted to let you… taste this feeling too.”
