Chapter 5#

The Little Waste Tames the Sinister Demon King (05)

As soon as Ling Xiaoqi returned from bragging at the Quick Transmigration Bureau, he heard his big brother drop such a tiger-wolf statement, instantly leaving him dumbfounded.

He knew that in all the missions his big brother had completed, he had never shown the slightest hint of romantic interest in any man or woman from any world.

Now, taking the initiative like this was truly catching him off guard.

But on second thought, this was probably another one of his big brother’s strategies—after all, just by teasing him twice before, the Demon King’s darkening value had decreased.

Sure enough.

A system notification sounded quietly, and the darkening value dropped another two points.

It was now 95.

Upon hearing Ling Yan’s words, Moyan’s form stiffened almost imperceptibly. He lowered his gaze to the slender hand tugging at his sleeve, remained silent for a moment, and then said in a low voice, “There are still other ceremonies I need to preside over. I… will return shortly.”

“Oh.”

Ling Yan lazily loosened his fingers, letting the fabric of the sleeve slip from his fingertips, and replied casually, “Then go ahead.”

“Mm.”

The words had barely left his mouth before Moyan’s figure dissipated like mist.

Ling Xiaoqi exclaimed excitedly, [Big brother! This demon king really falls for the teasing! The moment you said ‘Aren’t we going to the bridal chamber?’ his darkening value dropped another two points!]

Ling Yan casually pulled off the bridal veil on his head, swept his gaze over the sleeping chamber, and strolled slowly to the table. [I just inexplicably signed a blood contract. Check it for me to see if there are any hidden dangers.]

Ling Xiaoqi quickly looked through the data and replied, [No problem, big brother, rest assured. This is a normal procedure for demon clan weddings. There won’t be any negative effects.]

Ling Yan nodded and said no more.

The table was piled high with all kinds of delicacies, laid out in a dazzling array that filled the entire surface. The tempting aroma whetted his appetite. He picked up a piece of pastry and began nibbling lazily.

Suddenly, he noticed a dish of snow-white, jade-like meat slices in the center of the table.

Curious, Ling Yan leaned in, picked up a slice with his chopsticks, and examined it closely—it turned out to be a plate of raw fish sashimi. [Do the demon clans still eat raw food?]

Ling Xiaoqi explained, [After all, they are demons. Even if they take human form, they retain their bestial nature deep down.]

Ling Yan had no interest in this, and raw meat was certainly not to his taste.

After eating his fill, he still saw no sign of Moyan’s return. The only sounds were the occasional distant roars of beasts outside the window. Ling Yan sat alone by the table, waiting until drowsiness overtook him, and he ended up falling asleep slumped over the table.

About the time it takes to finish a cup of tea, a faint glimmer of light flickered within the room, and Moyan’s figure quietly materialized.

He stood still by the table, his gaze lowered as he silently watched the sleeping Ling Yan. His face revealed no discernible expression—he simply stared without a sound.

He looked and looked.

After a while, as if sensing that Ling Yan’s sleeping posture was uncomfortable, he bent down, carefully lifted him horizontally, and walked slowly toward the bed.

Gently placing the person on the soft bedding, Moyan swept his wide sleeve, and Ling Yan’s outer robe and shoes silently vanished.

He also removed his own outer robe and lay down on the bed.

With another wave of his hand, the lamps in the room were extinguished, leaving only the hazy moonlight filtering through the window, casting a faint glow.

In his sleep, Ling Yan caught the familiar scent and unconsciously moved closer to Moyan, curling up into his arms, and mumbled vaguely, “Cat cat…”

Hearing this, Moyan was momentarily stunned, then gently patted his back and replied in a low voice.

“Sleep, my demon queen.”

The next day, before dawn broke, Yanxi’s voice sounded outside the hall doors: “My king, I have an urgent matter to report.”

Inside the room, Moyan’s eyes snapped open. His first reaction was to look at the person in his arms—Ling Yan was being held closely against his chest, their bodies pressed intimately together in a tender posture. His gaze darkened, and in an instant he appeared before Yanxi outside the door, lowering his voice, “Keep your voice down. He’s still sleeping.”

Yanxi: “…”

His voice just now had already been quite soft.

He bowed his head, lowering his voice even further: “My king, another wave of high-level demonic beasts has appeared outside the city, running amok. The patrolling sprites reported that they have never seen such monsters before and don’t know where they came from… I’m afraid they are the same batch as the darkening sprites that appeared last time.”

In recent days, many uncontrollable, berserk darkening sprites had inexplicably emerged within the demon clan’s territory. Their demonic power was formidable, wreaking havoc everywhere. It was precisely because of this that the demon clan was forced to temporarily cease hostilities with the human race.

Recently, the main forces of the demon clan had been investigating the source of these darkening sprites.

Moyan’s handsome face turned cold and stern. He raised his hand to cast a cleansing spell, speaking in a flat tone, “I will go and see for myself.”

“Yes, I will accompany you, my king.”

But Moyan turned his head and glanced at him: “You don’t have to go.”

“?”

“You stay and take care of the demon queen.” His voice was calm but brooked no argument. “I will return in three to five days.”

“…”

There were so many people in the demon clan, why did it have to be him who looked after the demon queen? Though puzzled in his heart, Yanxi still replied respectfully, “As you command.”

The words had barely left his mouth when Moyan’s figure dissipated like mist and vanished.

Outside the demon city, the darkening sprites surged like a tide, wreaking havoc.

They frenziedly destroyed everything outside the city. Their demonic power swept across the wilderness like a storm, uprooting trees and leaving the earth scarred and desolate.

Although a barrier had been set up inside the demon city, temporarily keeping the demonic beasts at bay, some berserk sprites still kept crashing into the barrier, trying to break into the city.

“Ah——”

“Ugh——”

Piteous howls and crashing sounds rang out unceasingly. Demonic qi filled the air like fog, shrouding the surroundings.

Moyan suddenly appeared outside the city, his cold eyes sweeping over the chaos. A flicker of annoyance at being disturbed passed through his long, narrow, golden pupils. He indifferently raised a hand and clenched it in the air—

“Boom!”

A sprite burst apart with a loud crack.

He waved again.

“Boom——”

Another one exploded instantly.

He moved without pause, as casually as crushing ants.

One by one, the sprites exploded, brains splattering and blood gushing. In the space of a few breaths, the area outside the city was awash in blood.

Moyan’s black-gold robe was splattered with mottled bloodstains, and a few drops of blood had landed on his cold, pale face, adding a touch of eerie, sinister beauty to his handsome, fierce features.

After crushing several, Moyan suddenly stopped.

He recalled Ling Yan’s previous ‘rip out the heart and lungs’ move, and the corners of his lips curled slightly. He murmured to himself, “Let me also experience… what it feels like to rip out a heart and lungs.”

The moment his voice fell, his fingertips suddenly lengthened, sharp as blades, and stabbed fiercely into the chest of a demonic beast—

With a “pfft”, his claws sank into the flesh.

Moyan slowly withdrew his hand, and in his palm now lay a heart that was still faintly beating.

He examined the still-pulsing heart in his palm, focused for a moment, raised an eyebrow, and whispered softly, “The feeling isn’t bad… rather novel.”
