Chapter 16#
The Little Waste Tames the Sinister Demon King (16)
“Brother……”
Ling Yan’s voice was as soft as a mosquito’s hum, carrying an indescribable sense of wronged grievance and inner struggle.
Seeing his younger brother in this delicate, on-the-verge-of-tears, fragile state, anyone would soften. Ling Sheng’s gaze gentled, and a surge of pity welled up in his heart.
He took out a few items from his bosom and handed them over one by one, his voice warm. “This paper crane is for sending messages; be careful with it. This bottle of powder is for self-defense; in a crisis, it might just save your life.”
He paused, then placed an exquisitely embroidered sachet into Ling Yan’s hand, his tone growing even softer. “Mother embroidered this for you herself… She’s been thinking about you all along.”
Ling Yan stretched out his hand, trembling slightly, and accepted these things.
Ling Sheng sighed softly and patted his shoulder.
“Take care. Your safety is the most important thing. I have to go now; Yan Xi will probably be back soon.”
Ling Yan nodded obediently and said in a low voice.
“Alright, brother, you take care too.”
Ling Sheng ruffled his younger brother’s soft hair, and then with a flicker of his form, the appearance of the human youth quickly faded, transforming into that of an ordinary demon servant. He casually picked up an empty plate from the table, waved his hand to dispel the barrier that had enveloped the two of them, turned, and silently withdrew from the bedroom.
Only when that figure had completely disappeared did the timid, helpless expression on Ling Yan’s face instantly fade away.
He walked slowly to a nearby chair, sat down leisurely, and toyed with the small celadon bottle between his fingers. After examining it for a moment, he silently thought to himself: 【Second Brother, is this medicine really that potent? Can it really waste away Mo Yan’s hundred thousand years of cultivation?】
Ling Xiaoqi quickly retrieved and analyzed the information before responding: 【It can indeed dissolve cultivation, but a hundred thousand years of cultivation is no small matter. It cannot be completely eliminated by medicine alone, unless the entire bottle is consumed.】
Ling Yan shook the porcelain bottle casually.
Silence answered him.
He raised an eyebrow, directly pulled out the stopper, squinted one eye, and peered inside—
The bottle was pitch black; he couldn’t see a thing.
His gaze swept across the table, he picked up an empty cup, and turned the bottle upside down.
“Plop——”
A single drop of thick, blood-red liquid slowly fell into the bottom of the cup.
Just one drop.
Ling Yan lowered his eyes to glance at the drop of crimson, viscous fluid in the cup, and the corner of his mouth curled into a playful smile. “So deeply red. It looks quite frightening, doesn’t it?”
At that very moment, steady footsteps approached the bedroom from afar.
Ling Yan’s gaze flickered. He quickly tucked the porcelain bottle back into his bosom and neatly poured that drop of “Crimson Ash” back into the bottle. He glanced at the cup that had held the medicine; it was useless to keep it.
With a casual toss, the cup hit the ground and shattered with a crisp crack, the sound unusually clear in the silent hall.
The person outside the door had clearly noticed the commotion.
The pace suddenly quickened, and a figure swept into the hall like a gust of wind.
Yan Xi’s sharp gaze rapidly swept across the room as he asked in a deep voice.
“Demon Queen, are you alright?”
Ling Yan waved his hand lazily and pointed nonchalantly at the floor. “It’s nothing, I just dropped a cup. Did you gather the spring water?”
Yan Xi bowed in acknowledgment, raised his hand, and waved lightly.
Several bamboo tubes filled with clear, sparkling spring water quietly materialized on the table.
Ling Yan casually took one, raised it to his lips, and took a sip, praising, “Not bad. Pure, sweet, and refreshing. Very good.”
Yan Xi bowed and responded, “I’m glad the Demon Queen approves.”
“Of course I do.”
Ling Yan took a few more sips, then yawned lazily. He stood up from his chair and slowly walked toward the bed, saying nonchalantly as he went, “I’m feeling a bit sleepy. You may withdraw; I’ll rest for a while.”
“Yes.”
Ling Yan kicked off his shoes and, without even removing his outer robe, lay straight down on the bed, closing his eyes to pretend to sleep.
Only when the sound of footsteps had completely faded did he gently turn over and slowly open his eyes—
But immediately met a tall figure.
The man stood silently beside the bed, extraordinarily tall, nearly ten feet in height, like a silent wall.
Ling Yan’s tea-colored eyes widened in surprise, a trace of astonishment showing. “You… why are you back? When did you come back?”
His heart tightened.
Damn…
Could it be that he saw Ling Sheng?
Is his life even worth living? Though he really didn’t want to meddle, that person was still the original body’s biological brother.
Mo Yan, dressed in a black long robe, casually sat down by the bedside. His voice was deep and steady. “I just came back, just when you were drinking the spring water.”
“……”
Then he probably… didn’t see.
Good.
Mo Yan reached out and pinched Ling Yan’s soft cheek, his fingertips feeling the warm, smooth skin, his tone half-smiling. “Didn’t you say you were sleepy? Why aren’t you sleeping now?”
Ling Yan lifted his eyelids lazily, tilted his body, and naturally pillowed his head on Mo Yan’s sturdy thigh. He looked up, a sly smile twinkling in his eyes. “Now that you’re back, I’m not sleepy anymore.”
Mo Yan’s eyes narrowed, a deep meaning flickering in his pupils.
He leaned in close, one hand wrapping around Ling Yan’s waist, the other supporting the back of his neck, and lowered his head to kiss him.
Their lips met, their breaths mingled.
At first, it was just a gentle touch, then gradually deepened, growing increasingly passionate and lingering.
Warm breaths intertwined, the ambiguous atmosphere like silk threads tightly binding them together, as if even the air itself was stained with a lingering warmth.
After a long while, Ling Yan, panting, collapsed limply on the bed. His Adam’s apple bobbed slightly as he spoke, his voice a bit hoarse. “Why… didn’t you ask me?”
“Ask you what?”
“Ask me… if I want to kiss?”
Mo Yan gave a low laugh, smoothly pressing the person beneath him. His fingertips lightly traced over the other’s flushed cheek, his tone lazy yet domineering. “If this king had asked, little Yan would definitely have said ‘no.’ Since that’s the case, isn’t it better to just go ahead and kiss…?”
“……”
Fuck.
Ling Xiaoqi stared at the pitch-black screen in front of him and couldn’t help but click his tongue in amazement: 【The Demon King really has changed. Half a month ago, he was still as obedient as a house cat in front of you. Now, he’s completely stopped hiding—probably been holding it in for too long.】
Ling Yan replied expressionlessly in his mind: 【I told you to read BL novels, not to use them like this.】
Ling Xiaoqi let out a meaningful low chuckle: 【Bro, it’s really too good. I’ve been completely immersed in the plot lately. Say… how do you think the Demon King’s stamina is?】
Ling Yan raised an eyebrow slightly, the corner of his mouth curling into a playful arc as he slowly uttered four words.
【It must be strong.】
No sooner had he spoken than he felt his jaw gently lifted by a warm hand.
Ling Yan looked up and met Mo Yan’s deep golden eyes. That gaze was like molten gold, carrying a suffocating pressure that made one almost dizzy. “Little Yan… don’t space out in front of this king.”
Ling Yan didn’t struggle, only gave a lazy smile. “Since you’re back, you must have gathered the medicine?”
“Naturally.”
Mo Yan propped himself up with one arm beside Ling Yan and raised the other hand slightly. As his demonic energy flowed, two spirit herbs appeared in his palm.
One was a deep blue, like ice from the abyssal sea, exuding an aura of extreme yin. The other was a blazing red, like the fire of molten rock, surging with the power of extreme yang. The spiritual energy around both herbs was surging, and as they approached each other, they even faintly repelled, sending out ripples of invisible energy.
Ling Yan leaned against the bed, examining the two glowing spirit herbs. His tone was lazy, with a hint of teasing. “If I eat both of these at the same time… won’t it go ‘boom’ and blow me up?”
Mo Yan lowered his eyes to look at him, the depths of his golden gaze steady and unwavering.
“With this king here, naturally not.”
