Chapter 13#

The Little Waste Tames the Sinister Demon King (13)

Yan Xi’s ears twitched slightly outside the door, clearly catching Ling Yan’s murmured words.

He raised his thick fingers and swiftly wrote a few lines in the air, then channeled his demonic energy. The floating characters dissipated like smoke.

Ling Xiaoqi pondered for a moment and gently suggested, 【Brother… how about at least taking a bite? No matter what, it’s a gesture from him.】

Ling Yan chuckled softly. 【In a little while.】

After a quick wash, he paced slowly back to the table and sat down. Casually, he picked up a skewer of grilled heart and brought it to his lips, taking a small bite.

Ling Xiaoqi couldn’t help swallowing. 【How does it taste?】

【Pretty good.】

【Really? Better than what that big rhino outside makes?】

【His skills are far superior.】

Ling Xiaoqi pouted and whined softly, 【Brother~ I want some too~】

Ling Yan leaned lazily against the table, one hand propping up his chin while the other nonchalantly held a piece of heart meat. He asked in a relaxed tone, 【Are you sure? Not afraid of being discovered by the demons here?】

Ling Xiaoqi quickly replied, 【Mo Yan went out early to find spiritual herbs for you—I don’t know which deep mountain or forest he’s crawled into. Only that big rhino is outside now. It should be fine!】

Ling Yan thought for a moment and finally nodded. 【Alright, come on out.】

The next second, a faint light flickered in the air, and a child about three years old suddenly appeared. Dressed in a delicate black-and-white mini suit, a pacifier dangling from his lips, he had big, sparkling eyes—adorable and lively.

Ling Yan smiled and ruffled his soft hair, then took a skewer of grilled heart from the plate and handed it over.

Ling Xiaoqi took it, carefully bit into it, chewed twice, and his eyes lit up. He exclaimed softly, “Wow, it really is good…”

“Who?!”

Before the words finished, Yan Xi stormed in like a gust of wind and appeared beside Ling Yan in an instant.

His sharp gaze swept across the entire inner hall, but he saw nothing unusual. He retreated to Ling Yan’s side and asked in a low voice, “Demon Queen, has anyone suspicious entered your room just now?”

Ling Yan leaned lazily on the table, one hand propping his head, and shook his head calmly. “No.”

Yan Xi scratched his head in confusion.

Strange.

He clearly heard a child’s voice, but when he came in, there was no sign of anyone. Even more oddly, he couldn’t detect any unfamiliar aura in the hall.

Meanwhile, inside the system space, Ling Xiaoqi patted his little chest nervously, still chewing a mouthful of food. He mumbled indistinctly, 【Man, how are that big rhino’s ears so sharp?!】

Ling Yan replied flatly, 【He is the Demon Clan’s Grand Commander, after all.】

【…】

Ling Xiaoqi was silent for a few seconds, then chewed the meat vigorously before suddenly realizing, 【Brother, you did that on purpose just now, didn’t you?】

【No, I didn’t.】

【Really??】

【You were the one who said ‘it should be fine’ just now.】

【…】

Wuwuwuwu!

I don’t want to talk anymore.

Yan Xi paced cautiously around the bedchamber, his eyes scanning every corner like torches—even behind the curtains and between the screens. He carefully checked every possible hiding spot and, only after confirming nothing was amiss, did he finally relax a little.

Perhaps…

He had really misheard earlier.

Ling Yan took out a silk handkerchief and wiped the corner of his mouth idly, then rested his chin on one hand and asked casually, “Yan Xi, where is your Demon King?”

Yan Xi turned around at the question and replied respectfully, “The Demon King went out early to search for spiritual herbs. He specifically ordered me to stay and protect you.”

“Alright, I understand.”

Over the next half month, Ling Yan lived quite luxuriously.

Every day, he was dressed in fine clothes and fed delicacies, surrounded by rare and precious playthings. This treatment didn’t feel like doing a mission—it felt more like a vacation in the demon realm.

Ling Xiaoqi watched his big brother’s leisurely demeanor and couldn’t help laughing. 【Brother, if the previous nine Raider saw you living it up like this now, they’d be furious.】

Ling Yan lay languidly on the soft couch, picking up a freshly picked bright red strawberry and popping it into his mouth. 【What? Want to show off again?】

【Hehehe! Yeah!】

It was only right to make them mad—to let them know who the real big shot of the Quick Transmigration Bureau was. No matter how hard the target, his big brother could handle it with ease.

Ling Yan bit into the strawberry slowly and replied lazily, 【Alright, go ahead.】

Ling Xiaoqi excitedly suggested, 【Brother, let me take a few pictures of you! Last time I went back and told them, they didn’t believe me. This time I’ll keep evidence, so they can’t argue anymore!】

【So petty.】

Even as he said that, Ling Yan cooperated, adjusting his posture and striking an elegant, leisurely pose on the couch.

With a few soft clicks, Ling Xiaoqi said contentedly, 【Brother, I’m off. I’ll be back soon!】

【Mm.】

Ling Yan lounged lazily on the soft couch, casually picking up another bright red strawberry. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Yan Xi seriously roasting meat skewers beside him. Yan Xi seemed to have written something in the air again, then channeled demonic energy, and the characters vanished instantly.

Ling Yan didn’t recognize those characters—they were likely a special script unique to the demon realm.

He turned over lightly to face Yan Xi, folded his hands under his chin, and asked with interest, “Yan Xi, what were you writing just now?”

Yan Xi’s body stiffened noticeably, as if hesitating whether to answer—but since the Demon Queen had asked, telling the Demon King probably wouldn’t hurt.

He tilted his head slightly and replied respectfully, “Answering the Demon Queen, I was sending a message to the king.”

Ling Yan raised an eyebrow and pressed further.

“What did it say?”

“…”

Ling Yan slowly sat up, taking a dagger from his sleeve.

He had found it beside his pillow that morning—Mo Yan must have left it behind before departing. His fingertips gently traced the cold scabbard, then he drew the blade with a sharp ring, revealing a flash of cold light.

Yan Xi clearly recognized the weapon. His expression turned serious, and he answered truthfully, “The king ordered me to report everything about the Demon Queen at all times—including food, clothing, living, satisfaction—and record it in detail, sending it promptly.”

The dagger danced nimbly between Ling Yan’s fingers before he stopped, looked up at Yan Xi, and a playful smile curled at the corner of his mouth. “Now, send another message to your Demon King.”

Yan Xi was taken aback. “Send what?”

Ling Yan toyed with the gleaming dagger, lightly tapping the blade against his own forehead, and said slowly, “Ask him… if he misses me.”
