Chapter 10#
The Little Waste Subdues the Sinister Demon King (10)
As the reprimand fell, a horde of spirits suddenly burst from the flower clusters around the mountain stream. They were wreathed in thick, black miasma, their auras dark and terrifying, their faces twisted beyond recognition—clearly eroded by demonic qi, their senses lost.
Ling Yan looked up, his expression calm.
Mo Yan caught his movement and, thinking his delicate little demon queen was afraid, quickly soothed him in a low voice: “Don’t be afraid, I’m here.”
Ling Yan smiled faintly, taking the opportunity to tighten his hold on Mo Yan, pretending to be timid.
“Demon King, I’m so scared…”
“Don’t worry, I won’t let you suffer the slightest harm. The scene ahead might be bloody—you can close your eyes.”
“Alright.”
Ling Yan obediently agreed, but his tea-colored, peach-blossom eyes were wide open, clearly brimming with curiosity.
Mo Yan swept his gaze over the surrounding spirits, his brow slightly furrowed, a trace of impatience flashing in his eyes. He casually waved his hand, spiritual power surging, and crushed a spirit in midair from a distance.
With a “bang,” it exploded in the air.
The remaining spirits were dealt with in much the same manner by Mo Yan. “Bangs” rang out in succession, the killing swift, like a whirlwind sweeping through dry weeds and rotten wood.
Witnessing this, Ling Yan remarked in his mind to Ling Xiaoqi: [He really just crushes them pure and simple—one crush, one pop, just like playing with firecrackers.]
Ling Xiaoqi twitched at the corner of his mouth: [Boss, your metaphors are something else.]
Another “bang” as Mo Yan crushed another spirit.
Perhaps his force was a bit too strong—the spirit exploded violently in midair, like a bloody firework, splattering blood everywhere.
Ling Yan wiped the smile off his face, reached up to wipe the bloodstains that had splashed onto him, and couldn’t manage a laugh anymore: [This one’s no fun—it’s splattering all over.]
[Boss, my condolences.]
Ling Xiaoqi suddenly remembered the “guts and innards spilling out” scene his big brother had mentioned before and worried that there might be something filthy here as well.
Fortunately, upon closer inspection, most of the splatter was just blood.
Mo Yan noticed Ling Yan wiping the bloodstains and, with a glance, sent a stream of spiritual power over—the bloodstains on Ling Yan vanished without a trace.
He was still taking care of his demon queen while fighting, casually casting a cleansing spell.
Ling Yan nestled quietly in Mo Yan’s arms, silently commenting in his mind: [Quite thoughtful.]
[…]
Two madmen.
They actually matched each other quite well.
After that, Mo Yan continued slaying the demons without pause, his methods fierce and decisive, but not a single drop of blood splashed onto Ling Yan.
Only the poor flowers and grass around them were utterly drenched in blood, a spectacle so absurd it looked like an automatic sprinkler at work.
With a “bang,” the last demon was also crushed.
Only then did Mo Yan have a moment to look down at the person in his arms—his little demon queen was honestly nestled against his chest, so well-behaved it almost seemed to warm his otherwise empty and cold heart.
A hint of tenderness rippled through his golden eyes, and he spoke in a low voice.
“This time, I was careless to bring you to such a remote area outside the city.”
Ling Yan, curled up in his arms, was actually starting to feel drowsy. He yawned lazily and said calmly, “It’s fine. Besides, I believe the Demon King will protect me completely.”
Hearing that title, a flicker of displeasure passed through Mo Yan’s heart, and his chest felt inexplicably tight: “Call me by my name.”
“…”
Ling Yan opened his beautiful tea-colored eyes, his long lashes trembling slightly, a hint of slyness glinting in their depths as he deliberately went against him: “But I think calling you ‘Demon King’ sounds nicer. Is that not allowed?”
“…”
Mo Yan didn’t know why, but he simply couldn’t withstand that look. His lips pressed together and loosened again, and finally he conceded.
“…Allowed.”
Mo Yan casually formed a cleansing seal, and both of them were instantly refreshed. Then, with a light flick of his sleeve, they vanished from the spot in an instant, reappearing in the demon capital’s palace.
One must know these two places were separated by thousands of miles. Although he had seen Mo Yan use this technique in the hall yesterday, the bedchamber and the main hall were not far apart.
But crossing mountains and rivers like this was truly astonishing.
Ling Yan blinked as he looked at the familiar bedchamber before him, then tilted his head up and asked curiously, “What kind of spell is that?”
So convenient.
Perfect for a lazy person like him.
Just a wave and you’re there—no need to trudge all the way on foot. If Tang Sanzang had known such a spell, fetching the scriptures would have taken a single moment.
Mo Yan ascended the steps of the hall, his long legs striding gracefully as he looked down at his delicate little demon queen in his arms.
Seeing the stars sparkling in his eyes, Mo Yan lifted the corners of his mouth and explained, “It’s a kind of teleportation, but more profound than ordinary teleportation. This technique can tear the current space and directly connect to another location.”
“So amazing?”
Ling Yan blinked his tea-colored eyes, revealing a hint of excitement.
Praised by his little demon queen, a hint of joy stirred in Mo Yan’s heart. But then Ling Yan asked again, “Is it easy to learn?”
Mo Yan paused mid-step and asked, “You want to learn?”
“Mm.”
“…”
Mo Yan climbed the last few steps, slowly pushed open the door, entered the bedchamber, and gently set Ling Yan down on the couch.
Then he knelt on one knee by the bedside, his golden eyes shifting, carefully examining the meridians inside Ling Yan’s body through his physical form. After a moment, he answered seriously, “With your current aptitude… I’m afraid even after ten thousand years of cultivation, you might not achieve anything.”
“…”
Ling Yan wiped the smile off his face and said flatly in his mind: [Little brother, I feel like my waste personality has been insulted.]
Ling Xiaoqi: [Boss, this really isn’t your fault. This body really is a waste—a pure waste. No drugs, no blocked meridians, just born a loser, destined never to cultivate.]
[…]
Ling Xiaoqi wanted to continue: [And besides—]
Ling Yan frowned slightly and cut him off directly: [Enough, shut up. This waste doesn’t want to hear it.]
[…]
Sensing that his little demon queen’s mood had dropped, Mo Yan sat down on the other side of the couch, pondered for a moment, and then said, “Although you can’t practice spells, that ’tear out heart and lungs’ move of yours is quite formidable. Ordinary people and demons… probably can’t match your clean technique.”
Ling Yan raised an eyebrow slightly and looked at Mo Yan.
His golden eyes were lowered, his gaze steady and earnest: “If you want to go anywhere, I can take you there.”
He paused, then added, “Even to the human realm.”
Ling Yan sat on the edge of the couch, arms crossed, smiling as he looked at him. “That kind to me?”
“Mm.”
Ling Yan rose lazily from the couch, adjusted his sleeves, and toyed with the gold-embroidered red robe he wore. “Then I want to bathe. Even though you used a cleansing spell, I think soaking in a bath is more comfortable.”
“Fine. I’ll have Rockhorn prepare hot water.”
With that, Mo Yan also stood up from the couch, his golden eyes cast down at Ling Yan.
The two had never stood side by side like this before.
Although Ling Yan had stood beside Mo Yan during the wedding, the bridal veil had covered his face, so he hadn’t been able to see the difference in their heights clearly. Now standing shoulder to shoulder, Ling Yan realized he only reached up to Mo Yan’s shoulders.
And this body of his was a full 184 centimeters.
Ling Yan raised his pretty face, a hint of defiance in his tea-colored eyes, and asked.
“How tall are you?”
Mo Yan was momentarily startled, then said thoughtfully, “Are you asking about this physical body, or my true form?”
“Your physical body.”
“About ten chi.”
“…”
Ten chi?
Converted, it was nearly 2.3 meters.
Ling Yan paced back and forth, sizing up his figure, then lightly rose on his tiptoes and said, “You little demon… you must eat really well on a daily basis.”
“…”
?
Little demon?
