Chapter 19#
“Young Master Wants to Kill Me?” Chapter Number: 7235558#
Mo Shu was very unhappy.
The first thing he did when he woke up in the morning was to scramble frantically to find Rong Yu, terrified that while he was away last night, his young master might have been bullied by that audacious degenerate.
But he was still a step too late.
Mo Shu stared at the string of deep crimson kiss marks on Rong Yu’s calf, spreading from the knee all the way down to the ankle, as bright and eye-catching as red plum blossoms. His eyes reddened instantly, and when his gaze landed on the circular bite mark on the ankle bone—already scabbed over and turned purple—he nearly burst into tears.
How detestable. His young master, as noble and pure as the bright moon, had still been gnawed on by that base, filthy mongrel.
Mo Shu gently pulled Rong Yu’s sock back on, then wiped away his tears sorrowfully.
Rong Yu heard the sobbing and lifted his heavy eyelids. He had drunk far too much yesterday, and his head was still foggy after waking.
“What are you crying about?” Rong Yu looked at Mo Shu, then his gaze moved to the bruise on the back of Mo Shu’s neck where Chu Tan had struck him. He sighed. “Go find a doctor and get some medicine. Have them look at the injury on your neck.”
Hearing Rong Yu’s words, Mo Shu cried even louder. What a kind and considerate young master—even after being hurt like this, he was still worried about him.
“It’s all because I’m useless. I failed to protect you, young master, and let that shameless scum Chu Tan defile, defile you… wuuu wuuu wuuu…” Mo Shu collapsed onto Rong Yu’s lap in sorrow, sobbing.
Rong Yu’s temple throbbed. The way Mo Shu phrased it made it sound like he was some pure, innocent maiden whose virtue had been ruined.
It was also the original owner’s fault. Logically speaking, with the original owner’s violent and tyrannical temperament, he shouldn’t have raised Mo Shu into someone who burst into tears at the drop of a hat. But the original owner had been withdrawn and solitary—after Lady Yang died, only a wet nurse and Mo Shu had genuinely cared for him.
The original owner naturally spoiled Mo Shu rotten. In public, Mo Shu put on a composed and reliable front, but in private, he was actually innocent and impulsive, unable to hide a single emotion.
“Enough. Stop wailing.” Rong Yu pinched the bridge of his nose. His voice was hoarse, and his words came out haltingly.
Mo Shu forgot to wipe his tears and hastily went to pour Rong Yu some tea. When he touched the teapot, it was still ice cold, and another wave of resentment washed over him. That shameless Chu Tan—bullying the young master and then running off. Not attending to his master early in the morning, and there wasn’t even a pot of hot tea to drink.
“Young master, wait a moment. I’ll go to the kitchen and fetch some hot water right away.”
Teapot in hand, Mo Shu turned around—and came face to face with Chu Tan entering through the doorway.
Mo Shu’s eyes reddened again. This time, from rage. He hurled the teapot at Chu Tan and rolled up his sleeves, ready to fight him to the death.
His mouth ran as he cursed: “You vile, shameless, filthy scum! You ambushed me yesterday and then came to bully my young master! My young master is as precious as gold and jade—how dare a lowly criminal slave like you touch him?! Just you watch me teach you a proper lesson today to vent my young master’s anger!”
The teapot cut through the air. Chu Tan tilted his head slightly, dodging it with ease, then stepped right to avoid Mo Shu’s punch as well.
Mo Shu twisted around and struck again. Chu Tan blocked with one hand while seizing both of Mo Shu’s wrists with the other, pressing his knee into Mo Shu’s back.
Chu Tan’s movements were startlingly fast—in the span of a lightning flash, he had Mo Shu pinned. No matter how Mo Shu struggled, it was useless.
“Let him go.”
Chu Tan turned. Rong Yu was watching him expressionlessly. “Let Mo Shu go.”
Chu Tan said, “If I let him go, what if he attacks me again?”
Rong Yu propped himself up into a sitting position, ink-black hair cascading over his shoulders. He brushed it impatiently behind his ears, his voice slightly hoarse. “He won’t.”
So Chu Tan released his grip.
Mo Shu furiously rubbed his aching wrists. Oh, how he wanted to strike back! But his young master had said he wouldn’t fight anymore, and he couldn’t defy Rong Yu. So he could only glare viciously at Chu Tan, cursing under his breath, wishing he could tear a chunk of flesh from Chu Tan’s body.
Yet Mo Shu was also astonished. He wasn’t a professional fighter or bodyguard, but to protect his young master, he had learned a few moves from martial arts masters since childhood. Yet under Chu Tan’s hands, he couldn’t even last a single exchange—and he had struck first!
Was the gap really that large? Could the son of a prefect… really have such martial skill?
While Mo Shu was still lost in thought, Chu Tan had already walked up to Rong Yu and knelt on one knee. As he helped Rong Yu dress, he said, “This servant has already instructed the kitchen to prepare breakfast. It should be delivered shortly. Young master, please wash up first—”
Before he could finish his sentence, another slap landed across his face.
Rong Yu lowered his hand, expressionless, and said coldly, “Who allowed you to lay a hand on Mo Shu?”
Mo Shu was moved again. His young master was standing up for him!
Chu Tan lowered his eyes. “Young master is so biased. He struck first—I was only defending myself.”
“I’m talking about you knocking him out last night.”
Of course Rong Yu was biased. And besides, this slap wasn’t entirely for Mo Shu’s sake—he was angry on his own behalf too.
Last night, Chu Tan had pressed him down, groping and licking. But under the indulgence and influence of alcohol, it hadn’t felt so bad. He’d even enjoyed it himself.
But after waking up, reason returned, and fury flooded his brain in waves.
And Chu Tan hadn’t just groped and licked him. Last night, feeling drowsy, Rong Yu had asked Chu Tan to carry him back to his bedchamber. Who knew that after putting him on the bed, Chu Tan simply wouldn’t leave? No matter how Rong Yu hit or cursed at him, he stuck to him like a mangy dog that couldn’t be chased away. Relying on his superior strength, he bullied the immobilized Rong Yu and stubbornly clung to his side, refusing to let go.
Only when Rong Yu could no longer fight off the drunkenness and drifted into hazy sleep did things settle.
But even using his toes, Rong Yu knew that pervert definitely hadn’t slept quietly in the second half of the night. Who knows what kind of indecent things he’d done!
How could he not be angry? How could he not hit him? Rong Yu only hated that he didn’t have a proper weapon at hand—he wanted to whip Chu Tan within an inch of his life!
Chu Tan picked up Rong Yu’s hand and pressed it to his lips, kissing it. “Young master’s hand is red from hitting.”
Before Rong Yu could speak, Mo Shu lunged forward in a single stride, pulling Rong Yu’s hand away and shielding his young master behind him. His hair nearly stood on end with fury as he glared at Chu Tan. “Don’t touch my young master, you shameless, despicable wretch!”
Chu Tan’s tongue pressed against his back molars, a flash of dark malevolence passing through the depths of his eyes. Though he was living incognito as a servant in the Rong residence, deep down he was still the noble heir of Prince Wei. He could tolerate Rong Yu, but that did not mean he could tolerate a household servant strutting and posturing before him again and again.
Rong Yu was far more perceptive. He patted Mo Shu and said, “It’s fine. Go check the kitchen and see if breakfast is ready. I’m hungry.”
Mo Shu stared warily at Chu Tan, reluctant to leave. “Young master, why don’t I push you there with me?”
Rong Yu said calmly, “It’s fine. You go.”
Only after a long while did Mo Shu leave, sulking.
The reason Rong Yu sent Mo Shu away was because Chu Tan was no kind-hearted soul. Rong Yu could hit and curse at him all he wanted because he already knew his own fate—the worst that could happen was dying in agony, nothing worse than that.
But Mo Shu had never truly humiliated Chu Tan. In the original book, Mo Shu’s ending was to follow Old Mammy Qin back to the countryside after the original owner’s death.
Now, Rong Yu didn’t want Mo Shu to be resented by Chu Tan for defending him either. They were master and servant, after all, and Rong Yu hoped Mo Shu could have a good ending.
Chu Tan noticed Rong Yu staring blankly at Mo Shu’s retreating figure and frowned with displeasure. Then he lifted Rong Yu into the wheelchair and summoned the young maid waiting outside to bring in a basin of hot water.
Chu Tan soaked a cloth in the hot water, intending to wipe Rong Yu’s face. Rong Yu snatched it from his hands, casting him a cold sidelong glare, and washed his face and rinsed his mouth himself.
Chu Tan watched quietly for a moment, then said, “Young master is far too partial. You speak softly and gently to Mo Shu, but treat me with nothing but icy hostility.”
“Should I be partial to you instead of him, you shameless degenerate?” Rong Yu tossed the cloth into the basin, splashing water into Chu Tan’s face. Chu Tan didn’t mind at all—he picked up the cloth Rong Yu had just used, wiped his own face with it, and waved the young maid away.
“Though you say that with your mouth, I know that’s not what’s in your heart.” Chu Tan grasped Rong Yu’s shoulders, bending slightly, his fingertips lifting a lock of Rong Yu’s ink-black hair, as sleek as silk, and bringing it to his nose for a delicate sniff.
Through the mirror, Rong Yu saw Chu Tan leaning close to his ear, a frivolous, wicked smile curving at his lips. “Last night, young master watched me lick your feet while you pleasured yourself, and you dripped all over the floor. You felt so good you were dying, weren’t you?”
Rong Yu closed his eyes, took a deep breath, then raised a hand and lightly touched Chu Tan’s cheek.
Chu Tan leaned into the touch, brushing his cheek against Rong Yu’s fingers with adoration.
The next second, Rong Yu seized his chin and yanked him viciously forward. Grabbing a hairpin from the vanity, Rong Yu pressed it directly against Chu Tan’s throat, his peach-blossom eyes narrowing into slits, cold light glinting within.
“Shut your filthy mouth, or I’ll make sure you never speak again.”
Rong Yu’s voice was soft, yet it carried a chilling murderous intent, spilling from those parted rosy lips and mingling with Chu Tan’s breath.
They were too close—so close that they were trading each other’s breaths, as if they might kiss at any moment. Yet because of their wildly contrasting expressions, the atmosphere was strange and warped.
It was obvious Chu Tan very much wanted to kiss him. His narrow, elongated eyes lowered, his dark gaze landing on Rong Yu’s beautifully shaped lips, deepening by several shades. He even swallowed—his bobbing adam’s apple scraping against the sharp hairpin, slicing a thin, fine wound across his neck.
Seeing that even at a moment like this, Chu Tan still had nothing but filth on his mind, Rong Yu gritted his teeth and shoved the hairpin harder into Chu Tan’s skin.
Chu Tan finally felt the pain. But he didn’t dodge. Raising an eyebrow, he taunted, “Young master wants to kill me?”
“You think I don’t dare?” Rong Yu’s chest heaved violently with rage, his fingers gripping the hairpin white-knuckled.
So what if he was the child of destiny, so what if he was favored by heaven? If he killed him, he killed him. At worst, the world would collapse, and that so-called protagonist gong and protagonist shou—they could all go to hell with him!
“Then let me teach you, young master—when you kill someone, don’t let your hand shake, and don’t waste words. Aim for a killing blow. Otherwise…”
Chu Tan seized Rong Yu’s trembling wrist—trembling from overexertion—and twisted it lightly. The hairpin clattered to the ground, and Rong Yu let out a muffled grunt as his slender neck fell into the grip of a long, broad palm.
“…otherwise, you’ll end up like this.”
Chu Tan lowered his head and licked Rong Yu’s pale earlobe, his voice slow and gentle. “Completely at someone else’s mercy.”
