Chapter 94#
“Everything I’ve done was to be with Xiao Han.”#
The door was pushed open abruptly, and the first thing that came into view was an exceptionally handsome face.
Slightly upturned peach blossom eyes were speckled with glints of golden laughter. His features were sharp, his nose bridge high, and his lips were curled into a faint, ambiguous smile. His tall, slender figure cast a long shadow under the lights, and the dark suit outlined a clean, sharp silhouette.
When the man’s gaze swept over Jian Yun沉, he gave him a playful, teasing wink.
With a hint of amusement in his eyes, he tilted his head slightly, appearing puzzled: “Am I late?”
Jiang Sheng was the quickest to react. He stood up, walked over to meet him, and patted Qin Mu on the shoulder, his tone warm: “I really didn’t expect it. To think it was you, pulling off such a major move behind our backs without a word.”
Qin Mu smiled and said nothing.
He lightly glanced at Jian Yun沉’s stunned face, his smile deepening slightly.
Qin Mu was led to his seat. It wasn’t until he sat down that Jian Yun沉 finally snapped out of it.
He stared fixedly at Qin Mu’s face, as if trying to bore a hole through it.
In that case, everything made sense now.
The room card Ji Weiyi had handed over that night, the way “Zhaohui” had inexplicably offered to delay delivery on their own initiative…
Jian Yun沉 gritted his teeth, his jaw tensing slightly, his fingertips clenched into a fist.
That damn Qin Mu—what else was he hiding from him?
Jiang Sheng was somewhat surprised that Qin Mu was the so-called “President Shan,” but he accepted it quickly. He had been speculating about which “giant tree” was backing Zhaohui to allow it to establish such a firm footing so quickly and progress so smoothly. It seemed that “Old Man Qin,” who had long since retired, had played a significant role behind the scenes.
A look of satisfaction appeared in his eyes.
Someone who could be recognized by Qin Linze would surely not be half-bad.
And the facts supported this, judging by Zhaohui’s development during this period.
Who would still think Qin Mu was just a useless rich second-generation heir after discovering he was the so-called “President Shan”?
Qin Mu acted as if he didn’t see Jian Yun沉’s murderous gaze.
He maintained a faint smile, his words and actions impeccable. He even managed to charm Jiang Sheng into drinking several glasses of wine.
Having had some wine, Jiang Sheng’s posture grew relaxed. He loosened his tie slightly and cast a fleeting glance at the two people sitting on the other side.
Jiang Yunhan acted as if none of this concerned him, keeping his head down and eating his meal, showing no intention of joining the conversation. He hadn’t even shown the most basic level of surprise.
Jian Yun沉, on the other hand, had a dark face, his eyes consistently ominous and his lips pressed tightly together.
Jiang Sheng frowned slightly in dissatisfaction.
Jiang Sheng shifted his gaze back to Qin Mu. Qin Mu had a faint smile on his lips as he took a small sip of red wine. Seeing Jiang Sheng looking at him, he put down his glass and asked softly, “Is something the matter, Uncle Jiang?”
A sharp glint flashed through Jiang Sheng’s eyes.
No one present was a fool. Qin Mu was willing to reveal his cards in front of him.
It was an intent to form an alliance.
And the only thing Jiang Sheng had that could interest him was…
“Xiao Qin, since the company is so successful, don’t you plan on telling President Qin?”
Qin Mu smiled nonchalantly: “It’s just a small project, nothing compared to yours.”
Jiang Sheng chuckled softly, raised his hand to finish his wine, and then changed the subject. “Speaking of which, Xiao Qin, you’ve reached the right age. Hasn’t President Qin made any arrangements for you?”
Qin Mu nodded slightly: “President Qin does have that intention.”
Jiang Sheng’s expression stiffened.
“It’s just that I already have someone I like, so I’m not in a hurry for the time being.”
Jiang Sheng’s expression gradually softened. He subconsciously glanced at Jian Yun沉 from the corner of his eye, a smile touching his lips: “Is that so? Which family is the person from?”
Sensing that subtle glance, Jian Yun沉’s spine stiffened involuntarily.
He lowered his eyes, avoiding Jiang Sheng’s gaze. His breathing slowed down, but his attention was firmly fixed on Qin Mu.
Qin Mu laughed, the mirth in his eyes more dazzling than the bright lights. He raised an eyebrow at Jiang Sheng, “If I said they were from your family, Uncle Jiang, how would you react?”
Jian Yun沉’s heart skipped a heavy beat.
His eyelashes trembled, and his fingertips tightened instinctively.
Jiang Sheng’s features relaxed, and he knowingly shot a glance toward Jian Yun沉, letting out a soft sigh:
“I would certainly be willing. It just depends on whether he is willing himself. Don’t you all emphasize… free love nowadays? I’m not some stereotypical…”
Jian Yun沉 could no longer hear whatever else Jiang Sheng was saying.
His mind was filled with the sound of his own racing heartbeat.
He felt a bit dazed, a bit confused, but mostly excited.
The red marks beneath his skin seemed to sense their master’s thoughts and began to burn feverishly, spreading into a flush that turned Jian Yun沉’s cheeks a faint crimson.
Upon hearing Jiang Sheng’s words, Qin Mu indeed turned in a different direction.
With a gentle expression and a tender gaze, he spoke softly, while simultaneously reaching out to firmly grasp the other person’s hand:
“Xiao Han, are you willing?”
Creeeeak—
As the words fell, a piercing sound of something breaking suddenly rang out.
Jian Yun沉’s hand jerked violently, and the porcelain bowl by his hand suddenly fell to the floor, shattering into several pieces.
He looked over, only to see Qin Mu holding Jiang Yunhan’s hand. The gentle smile on Qin Mu’s lips hadn’t had time to fade as he also looked up slightly toward him.
Jian Yun沉 fell into a sudden panic, his mind a chaotic mess. His fingertips trembled as if he were doubting what he had just heard.
But the scene before him was so real it stabbed into his eyes, forcing a rim of red into his sockets.
Jiang Yunhan snapped out of his shock and jerked his hand back, asking in disbelief: “You’re asking me?”
Qin Mu withdrew his gaze and refocused on Jiang Yunhan’s face, though his tender gaze was strangely cold.
He said clearly, word by word: “Xiao Han, everything I’ve done was to be with you. I hope you can see that I have a successful side as well. Now that I’ve proven myself, can you give me a chance?”
Before Jiang Yunhan could voice a refusal.
The previously silent Jian Yun沉 suddenly spoke.
“Qin Mu!”
His tone was cold and dark, his clenched knuckles turning white. Jian Yun沉 stared fixedly at Qin Mu’s face, unwilling to miss any change in his expression.
“Everything you did… was to be with Jiang Yunhan?”
Qin Mu turned to look at him.
His gaze slowly swept over the lower lip that Jian Yun沉 was biting hard.
Just last night, that very lip had been incessantly held, rubbed, and licked by him.
Qin Mu’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he lowered his gaze. “Yes.”
“Everything I’ve done was to be with Xiao Han.”
Jian Yun沉’s heart felt as if it were being roasted over a fire. In an instant, fury filled his chest, boiling and churning like lava. He slammed his hand on the table, turned, and rushed out.
Watching Jian Yun沉’s retreating back, Jiang Yunhan grabbed Qin Mu by the collar and yanked him forward.
He questioned: “Qin Mu, are you a bastard?!”
Qin Mu lowered his eyes and said nothing, his eyelashes drooping to hide all the emotions within.
Jiang Yunhan took a few deep breaths. “Are you going to go after him or not?”
Qin Mu looked up at him, still giving no answer.
Jiang Yunhan violently shoved the collar away and replied angrily: “In your dreams! There’s no way I’m marrying you!” With that, he turned and chased after Jian Yun沉.
The sound of urgent footsteps soon vanished outside the door.
Qin Mu looked down at his crumpled collar, appearing slightly lost in thought.
Until Jiang Sheng’s voice rang in his ear.
It felt as though a fire was raging in his chest, burning his internal organs until they ached. Jian Yun沉 tightened his grip, bit his lower lip hard, and slammed his foot on the accelerator. The car shot forward.
He drove fast and aggressively, his eyes bloodshot as he stared fixedly at the small stretch of road ahead. The pupils of his eyes reflected the streetlights flashing past, yet he saw nothing.
He had become intimately familiar with this short stretch of road. The car navigated through the night, weaving through the alleys.
Back home, his raging anger had no outlet.
He slid down against the door, curling himself into a small ball and hugging his knees tightly.
The sound of knocking followed immediately, and Jiang Yunhan’s voice came through the door.
“Xiao Chen, it’s me. Are you okay? Open the door—”
“Get lost!” Jian Yun沉 interrupted rudely. Stimulated by his fury, he was like a trapped beast. At this moment, Jiang Yunhan’s presence only served to fan the flames of his rage.
After an unknown amount of time, the knocking sounded again.
Jian Yun沉 sat on the dark floor hugging his knees. His heart felt painful and sour. The knocking interrupted his thoughts, and that wave of anger surged again, taking the upper hand.
He stood up and pulled the door open with great force.
“Didn’t I tell you to—” get lost?
The unfinished words came to a dead halt once he saw the face of the person outside.
Qin Mu was standing there against the cold wind. The flippant smile was gone from his lips, and he looked at him with a heavy, somber gaze.
