Chapter 81#
“Not only was I messing around with men, I also—”#
The photos were flung in Qin Mu’s face. He tilted his head slightly, letting the photos fall from his body.
The photos scattered on the ground, depicting the two of them in intimate poses, with an ambiguous atmosphere.
It was clearly Qin Mu and Jian Yunchen.
Through the car’s windshield, their actions were clearly captured.
Qin Mu looked down, the ground littered with their intimate photos from various angles.
His expression was blank. He even bent down and picked up a photo that showed Jian Yunchen’s entire profile.
In the photo, Qin Mu was smirking and leaning over him. Jian Yunchen’s dark, bright eyes were wide and watery as he looked at him, his cheeks slightly flushed, his hair disheveled. His arms were wrapped around Qin Mu. The person who appeared like a thorny wild rose in front of outsiders only showed such a vulnerable and beautiful expression around him.
Qin Mu’s eyes darkened slightly, and his fingertips gently wiped away the stains on the photo.
Yan Yi watched his actions, her expression collapsing, her voice trembling slightly: “Qin Mu! How could you do this?! How could you be messing around with men behind my back? Don’t you find it disgusting?”
Qin Mu’s movements paused slightly, a cold glint flashing in his eyes. He let out a cold laugh and finally looked up at her.
“What did I promise you?”
“What business is it of yours who I mess around with?”
“Who are you, exactly? Do I know you?”
Yan Yi’s expression was hurt, and her eyes quickly reddened.
This was the third time Qin Mu had asked her who she was.
She took a step forward, grabbed Qin Mu’s arm, and looked up at him: “Qin Mu, you really don’t remember me. At that time, only you—”
Before she could finish speaking, Qin Mu abruptly flung her hand away.
He looked at her with a cold expression, his eyes filled with an emotion she had never seen before.
Her hand was slapped away, and a sharp pain spread through it. Yan Yi stood frozen, her mind blank. For a moment, she even felt that this was not the Qin Mu she knew.
Qin Mu took a step forward, looked down at her, but his eyes were very cold.
“In what capacity do you think you are monitoring me?”
Being stared at by his intensely oppressive gaze, a sense of panic arose. Yan Yi’s spine stiffened, and she involuntarily took half a step back.
Qin Mu pressed closer, his gaze becoming increasingly deep and eerie.
Only then did Yan Yi realize that Qin Mu’s previous gentle and carefree demeanor was nothing more than a disguise.
He lowered his voice and asked, “Not only was I messing around with men, I also kissed him, touched him, and I want to sleep with him. Is that disgusting?”
The color instantly drained from Yan Yi’s face.
She gritted her teeth: “I wasn’t monitoring you!”
“I was only monitoring Jiang Yunhan. I was worried he would seduce you!”
“Seduce?”
Qin Mu sneered, cornering her against the wall. He looked down at her from above, his expression indifferent, his tone mocking: “That depends on whether I take the bait. If it were you—”
He paused, his gaze slowly sweeping across her face.
“Even if you stood in front of me completely naked, I wouldn’t even glance at you.”
These words felt like a slap in Yan Yi’s face. Her pale face quickly flushed with shame and anger, her eyes reddening. No one had ever dared to speak to her like this. She glared at Qin Mu, raising her hand as if to slap him.
Her slender wrist was easily caught by Qin Mu. His fingers tightened, and he frowned slightly, his eyes filled with annoyance.
He didn’t understand where the original owner had provoked such a lunatic.
Qin Mu yanked her hand and forcefully threw her aside. Yan Yi stumbled and fell directly to the ground.
Her knees scraped against the floor, causing a burning pain. Yan Yi propped herself up with her hands, her long hair falling to cover half her face. Tears gradually blurred her vision, falling onto the ground. Her shoulders trembled slightly, her sobs suppressed yet sorrowful.
She didn’t look up, maintaining her bowed posture, her voice trembling: “Qin Mu, you’ve been playing with me all along, haven’t you? You never intended to be with me… right?!”
Her tearful accusation echoed in the office. Qin Mu took a step forward, his toe landing in front of Yan Yi.
Yan Yi’s sobs stopped, and she looked up at him.
She saw Qin Mu slowly smile. The ice in his eyes suddenly melted, and his gaze towards her was tender and affectionate.
But the words he spoke were terrifyingly cruel.
“Do you know what a fool is? It’s someone who, even after being played, still asks.”
“Are you playing with me?”
Yan Yi’s eyes widened, and she looked at him in disbelief. The immense humiliation contorted her face.
She suddenly stood up, her high heels stepping on the scattered photos on the ground. She looked directly into Qin Mu’s eyes, tears still hanging in the corners of her eyes.
She said, word by word:
“Qin Mu, I will make you regret this.”
“Regret not choosing me today.”
With that, she turned and left.
As the woman’s back disappeared around the corner, Qin Mu slowly withdrew his gaze and looked down at the mess of photos on the ground. He let out a very faint cold laugh.
At the conference table, there was a routine report on the data from various departments.
Jiang Sheng sat at the head of the table, looking down at the report in his hands.
This was submitted by Jian Yunchen earlier in the day.
He scanned it casually, listening to the employees’ reports.
The voices gradually stopped. Jiang Sheng slowly furrowed his brow.
“Is that all?”
He swept his gaze across the people in the conference room, finally landing on Jian Yunchen.
“Is this what you’re showing me?”
Jian Yunchen’s movements paused, and he looked up at him.
He curved his lips into a smile, “Where is Mr. Jiang unsatisfied?”
Jiang Sheng said calmly: “The data is not clear enough, the timeline is not specific enough, and the executers are not clearly written.”
“You should be asking, what part of your work is satisfactory to me.”
Jian Yunchen’s smile faded, and he looked at him quietly for a moment before saying:
“I’ve received Mr. Jiang’s feedback. I’ll make the revisions immediately—”
“Revise?”
Jiang Sheng interrupted coldly: “Haven’t I given you enough opportunities? Haven’t I given you enough time? Since you joined the project team, has there been anything you’ve done that has satisfied me?”
Jian Yunchen looked at him without speaking or refuting. He knew that Jiang Sheng was just using this as an excuse. Since last night’s meeting didn’t yield the desired results, he was finding another way this morning to reprimand him in front of the entire company.
Jiang Sheng slammed the folder in his hand onto the table, his stern voice echoing in the conference room, clearly audible to everyone.
“With your current abilities, you are not qualified to be in charge of any project. The responsibility will be transferred to Jiang Yunhan. As for Jian Yunchen, you will follow him and learn for a period of time.”
“Only after you’ve produced a satisfactory plan can you take on any responsibility.”
Before Jian Yunchen could respond, the always-silent Jiang Yunhan’s eyes widened.
He almost questioned: “Mr. Jiang, how can this be! This was made by Xiao Chen!”
Jiang Sheng glanced at him calmly. Jiang Yunhan’s voice gradually weakened. He pursed his lips tightly and looked uneasily at Jian Yunchen.
Jian Yunchen, however, seemed to have expected this. His expression was calm, his brows relaxed, and he even had a slight smile.
He said softly:
“It’s okay, brother. I also feel that my current abilities are insufficient and I should learn more from you.”
The last few words were emphasized with particular weight.
