Chapter 77#
“Well done, Jian Yunchen.”#
As soon as eight o’clock struck, Qin Mu pushed open the grand door punctually.
He had originally expected a banquet of betrayal, but upon entering, he found it quite lively.
Besides Jiang Sheng, who had invited him, there were quite a few other people seated. Qin Mu, who had arrived just on time, ended up being the last one.
He smiled and walked over to Jiang Sheng.
“Uncle Jiang, I apologize for being late; there was traffic on the way.”
His gaze subtly swept past Jian Yunchen, who was sitting beside Jiang Sheng.
Qin Mu couldn’t quite grasp Jiang Sheng’s intention yet, but his intuition told him.
Nothing good would come of it.
Jiang Sheng didn’t play hard to get; seeing him arrive, he slightly curved his lips and gestured for Qin Mu to sit beside him.
Besides a few familiar faces, there were several strangers sitting on the other side of the round table. These individuals had hearty smiles, prominent features, blonde hair, and blue eyes, speaking profound German and chatting animatedly with Jiang Sheng at the table.
Jiang Sheng nodded slightly: “Xiao Mu, these are Paul and Max, old friends of mine for many years. Xiao Chen secured the project this time, and they just happened to arrive in the country today, so I thought I’d invite you along to celebrate with Xiao Chen.”
He casually glanced at Jian Yunchen, his eyes carrying a smile: “Xiao Chen, say hello. Moving forward, all your work will need to interface with Paul. Get to know each other in advance, it’ll be helpful.”
Paul was a young man in his mid-twenties, with slightly curly blonde hair, sharp features, and a rare German warmth in his smile. Seeing Jian Yunchen look his way, he immediately brightened his face.
“Kälte, erinnerst du dich an mich? Wir haben uns seit einiger Zeit nicht gesehen.”
Jian Yunchen looked at him expressionlessly.
The air froze for a moment.
Qin Mu subtly reined in his smile; he instantly understood Jiang Sheng’s true intention.
He wanted to use this method to embarrass Jian Yunchen and make him retreat.
He gave Jiang Sheng a cool glance, then slowly let his gaze fall on Jian Yunchen.
In his previous investigations, Jian Yunchen didn’t know German at all.
His brows furrowed slightly, just as he was about to speak up to help.
Jian Yunchen, who had been expressionless, suddenly curved his lips into a smile.
A warm smile easily evokes a good impression from the other party.
Jian Yunchen, speaking clearly and unhurriedly, replied:
“Hello, my name is Jian Yunchen. Nice to meet you. I don’t know German and can’t quite understand it. Is it convenient for me to communicate in English?”
(Hello, my name is Jian Yunchen. Nice to meet you. I don’t know German and can’t quite understand it. Is it convenient for me to communicate in English?)
Everyone at the table paused. It seemed no one expected him to say such a thing, and for a moment, Paul didn’t even know how to respond.
Jian Yunchen seemed to ignore everyone’s reactions and continued on his own:
“If you can speak Chinese, that would be even better.”
(If you can speak Chinese, that would naturally be even better.)
Jiang Sheng’s expression grew increasingly grim. Listening to Jian Yunchen’s words, he felt as if countless slaps were hitting his face.
He couldn’t help but snap in a low voice: “Jian Yunchen!”
Jian Yunchen looked over following the sound.
He looked at Jiang Sheng, the curve of his lips deepening.
“What’s wrong, President Jiang? Is there a problem with what I said?”
He asked Paul in Chinese: “I am the project leader, and I personally developed the plan. Only I know exactly how many parts are needed for each batch. Since you need to interface with me, shouldn’t you be the one to cooperate with me?”
Paul looked bewildered, exchanging glances with Max beside him. Both had varying degrees of confusion in their eyes.
“Jian Yunchen, do you even know what you’re saying?” Jiang Sheng questioned coldly.
Jian Yunchen blinked, his smile fading, leaving only a hint of coldness.
“Don’t know? Then go learn—ah.”
He paused, then said nonchalantly: “I’ve contacted three other established German companies that produce the same batch of parts. One even proactively reached out, offering a discount if we no longer cooperate with Paul.”
Jian Yunchen shot Jiang Sheng a defiant look, then, in front of everyone, made a phone call.
The call was answered quickly.
The person on the other end was of Chinese descent, and the moment the call connected, they greeted him enthusiastically.
“Hello, Jian, I’ve been waiting for you to contact me. What have you decided?”
Jian Yunchen raised an eyebrow, “Paul is right beside me now. He’s quite sincere, specially came all the way from Germany.”
He sighed, “I really don’t know who to choose between you all.”
The voice from the other end came through the phone’s microphone, occasionally mixing a few German phrases with Chinese.
Paul heard the voice leaking from the microphone and quickly reacted.
He reacted strongly, gesturing: “Das ist Lee’s Stimme. Sie haben sich an die Cheongchi Group angeschlossen.”
Jian Yunchen gave two perfunctory “ums,” too lazy to deal with it, said goodbye to the person on the other end, and then tossed the phone into Paul’s hand.
The two not only knew each other but were also rivals. The other person was from Zhengqi Group. Their respective companies had competing products and comparable strength, and Zhengqi had been doing very well in sales and garnering a lot of attention in recent years.
As soon as Paul got the phone, he began speaking fluently in German, continuously, not even minding the stares of others at the table.
Jiang Sheng’s face was cold as he turned his head to look: “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Jian Yunchen curved his lips into a smile: “You didn’t ask.”
Jiang Sheng’s face was so cold it was almost freezing. The original intention of the dinner was for that humiliation, but he hadn’t expected to be outmaneuvered by Jian Yunchen again.
The call ended quickly. Paul took out his phone, opened a translation app, and awkwardly used the software to translate into Chinese.
“Sorry, we will find a Chinese person to be specifically responsible for interfacing with you.”
“Discounts can also be negotiated further.”
A calm electronic voice clearly read out the German that Jian Yunchen couldn’t understand, translated into familiar Chinese.
Jian Yunchen’s eyes held a deeper smile as he extended his hand to Paul.
“Pleasure working together.”
Paul also extended his hand and shook Jian Yunchen’s, mimicking Jian Yunchen’s tone, awkwardly and slowly saying in Chinese: “Cooperation, pleasant.”
After dinner, when Jian Yunchen went to wash his hands.
Before he could even turn around, he was suddenly pulled into a stall by an abrupt force.
His vision plunged into darkness, his heart slowly accelerating. A solid chest pressed tightly against him from behind, breath ghosting over his ear.
Jian Yunchen’s ear tips flushed red, and he began to struggle.
His hands were clasped and held by one hand, and his body was pressed even tighter. Jian Yunchen let out a muffled groan as the man’s hot breath brushed past his ear tips, making them even redder.
He heard the man’s low voice resound in his ear: “Xiao Chen-gege, you’re so amazing.”
Jian Yunchen’s heart pounded fiercely. He struggled a bit, then said, unable to bear it any longer: “Qin Mu! Stop messing around!”
Qin Mu chuckled softly, removing the hand that covered Jian Yunchen’s eyes, but refused to let go. One hand easily clasped both of Jian Yunchen’s wrists, circling him from behind.
He gently rested his chin on Jian Yunchen’s shoulder, whispering:
“Jian Yunchen, well done.”
A sentence so simple it was almost like coaxing a child, yet it struck the softest part of Jian Yunchen’s heart.
He bit his lower lip, turning his head to gaze into Qin Mu’s slightly lowered eyes.
Qin Mu leaned in, kissing his trembling eyelashes.
Then gently repeated:
“Well done, Jian Yunchen.”
