Chapter 76#

Each Gets What They Need#

“Didn’t you establish ‘Zhaohui’ precisely to compete for the Qin family? As long as you marry me, I’ll have my dad, my brother, everyone you can use, help you.”

The shallow smile that had appeared in Qin Mu’s eyes rapidly cooled, forming a layer of ice with no visible bottom.

“Miss Yan, why do I understand less and less of what you’re saying? What do you mean ‘Zhaohui’ was founded by me? If you spread such rumors, the misunderstanding could be huge.”

Yan Yi pursed her lips, leaned forward, and lowered her voice:

“Brother Qin Mu, you don’t have to hide it from me, I won’t tell anyone. You want the Qin family, right? I’ll help you, as long as you—”

“Alright.”

Yan Yi’s eyes widened, surprise arriving unexpectedly. Joy quickly appeared on her face, and her smile broadened significantly:

She couldn’t help but confirm: “Really? You’re really willing?”

“Willing, yes,” Qin Mu casually raised an eyebrow: “Since you’re willing, why wouldn’t I be?”

Yan Yi excitedly linked her arm through his, her voice rising: “That’s great, Brother Qin Mu, you don’t know, before coming, I was worried you’d reject me. After I came back, I thought you had changed so much, but sure enough, you’re still the same as before.”

Qin Mu smiled, but there was no warmth in his eyes. He subtly withdrew his arm.

“How could that be?” He looked at her intently, “So, Xiao Yi, can you tell me, where did you hear that from?”

Yan Yi frowned slightly, hesitating for a few seconds.

But under Qin Mu’s gentle smile, she soon spoke the truth.

No one told her, she had guessed it herself.

After she returned to China, Qin Qiaosen pestered her every day. Whenever she went out, she would “happen to meet” him.

After drinking one time, Qin Qiaosen hooked his arm around someone’s shoulder, boasting while tipsy.

“You guys don’t know, do you? The big boss behind ‘Zhaohui’ is my brother.”

Most of this group were second children in their families; company matters weren’t their concern. They just ate, drank, and played every day. The name “Zhaohui” had been heard countless times from home, and the mysterious boss behind it was actually known by someone next to them.

Everyone stirred, eagerly asking about “CEO Shan’s” true identity.

Qin Qiaosen was young, and he’d call anyone ‘brother’ he met outside. His vague address might not necessarily refer to anyone specific.

Yan Yi was slowly sipping her drink on the other side, but her ears were attentive to that conversation.

Sure enough, when Qin Qiaosen’s drunken words rang out, they hit the vague suspicion in Yan Yi’s heart.

“What ‘whoever,’ that’s my own brother!”

A seed of doubt was planted in Yan Yi’s heart. She probably guessed why Qin Mu would secretly establish another company outside and compete with the Qin family.

It was nothing more than Qin Yanchen doubting his abilities, so he wanted to prove himself.

If that was the case, being with her could also achieve Qin Mu’s goal.

Yan Yi didn’t feel she was taking advantage of the situation.

This could only be called each getting what they need.

She smiled, looking at him gently.

Didn’t Qin Mu just agree?

Qin Mu listened, a cold light flashing in his eyes. The smile on his lips remained unchanged, and his tone even softened a few degrees:

“What credibility can Qin Qiaosen’s words have? I won’t let him pester you anymore, you should go back first.”

Yan Yi froze, the excitement and shyness on her face instantly turning into grievance, looking at him reproachfully.

Qin Mu smiled, comforting her: “I’m still working. You know, CEO Qin isn’t happy with me to begin with. If I leave early, CEO Qin will be displeased again.”

Yan Yi frowned, and just as she was about to speak, she looked at Qin Mu’s face and slowly closed her mouth.

That was Qin Mu’s father…

The young lady’s dissatisfaction was suppressed, purely for Qin Mu’s sake.

She left first, waving to him from the office door.

Qin Mu leaned against the desk, smiling and waving back.

Once Yan Yi’s figure completely disappeared, Qin Mu’s smile abruptly chilled.

He picked up the desk phone next to him, his brows lowered, his tone impatient:

“Don’t let that lunatic into my office again.”

The person who answered the phone was stunned and asked softly, “Are you referring to Miss Yan?”

Qin Mu thought for a second and added: “Don’t let her through the main gate either.”

He hung up the phone after speaking.

He then called his second uncle, Qin Yanshen.

“Second Uncle.”

Qin Yanshen was a little flattered to receive the call. Qin Mu’s status was no longer what it used to be. The old man had given him almost half of his shares. In the entire company, apart from Qin Yanchen, the largest shareholder was Qin Mu, whom everyone had once looked down upon.

No one could guess the old man’s intentions, only assuming he made a foolish decision in a fit of anger because Qin Mu had been expelled from the company.

But this matter was set in stone. Qin Mu’s status, boosted by the shares, soared. Even if Qin Yanshen called him Second Uncle, he was merely one of Qin Mu’s subordinates.

“Qin Mu? What’s wrong? Suddenly remembered your Second Uncle?”

Qin Mu curved his lips into a smile, “Second Uncle, are you busy lately?”

Qin Yanshen paused.

His department managed the company’s warehouse; he couldn’t be busy even if he wanted to.

He didn’t know what Qin Mu meant by that.

“Not too bad.”

“Second Uncle, the procurement department happens to need a部長 (head/minister) lately. I’d like to ask you to work hard and get a promotion.”

Qin Yanshen’s heart gave a heavy leap when he heard this. He had made no great achievements in the company; becoming the head of warehouse management was already thanks to him being Qin Linze’s son.

“Xiao Mu, are you serious?”

“Of course, I am.”

Qin Yanshen beamed with joy and immediately agreed.

Before hanging up, Qin Mu casually brought up, as if uncaring:

“Speaking of which, what has Qiaosen been busy with lately?”

Upon mentioning him, Qin Yanshen sighed heavily.

“Don’t even get me started, Xiao Mu. That rascal son of his is never home all day. Even I haven’t seen him for days.”

“Oh?” Qin Mu drawled, then asked back: “Qiaosen is that busy?”

“Heh.” Qin Yanshen let out a cold laugh.

“He’s not busy with anything proper; he’s busy chasing girls every day. He won’t listen no matter what I say; he’s obsessed.”

Qin Mu’s fingertips tapped rhythmically on the table. He sighed lightly, seemingly troubled: “I did see Qiaosen outside.”

“It’s just that the people around him… more or less have some bad rumors attached to them.”

“Qiaosen is getting so close to them.”

“As an older brother, I’m quite worried.”

Qin Yanshen listened quietly, his brows furrowing tighter and tighter.

Finally, he followed Qin Mu’s advice.

He would keep Qin Qiaosen at home for a while to temper his personality.

As for later—he thought, Qin Yanchen’s anger had probably subsided by then. He could then bring him to the company and keep him under his own watchful eye.

This way, Qin Qiaosen wouldn’t go around causing trouble.

After deciding Qin Qiaosen’s fate, Qin Mu hung up the phone.

The screen lit up, and Jiang Sheng’s message popped out.

「Xiao Mu, I want to find some time to meet up with you. Let’s have dinner at ‘Yunhao’ at 8 PM, room 618.」

Qin Mu’s fingertips paused slightly, his gaze falling on the message.
