Chapter 75#

That was what the original owner promised, not what he promised.#

The morning meeting started at 8 o’clock, a monthly board meeting. Qin Mu sat in his seat, bored, and yawned.

The meeting routinely reported on the profit and loss of each department. When it was Qin Zheng’s turn, he visibly paused.

Qin Yanchen gave him a light yet significant glance, and only then did Qin Zheng come back to his senses, gripping the documents and beginning his report.

As the meeting neared its end and was about to conclude, Qin Zheng pulled out a contract and handed it to everyone.

Qin Mu looked at the contract in his hand, and most of his drowsiness vanished.

The good show he had been waiting for all morning was finally beginning.

“I successfully negotiated a partnership with ‘Zhaohui’,” Qin Zheng began. “They agreed to let us be their supplier.”

The meeting room quickly erupted in heated discussion.

Everyone eagerly looked at the contract in their hands, flipping through it. Only Qin Yanchen, seated at the head, had an unreadable expression and a somber look in his eyes.

“We can get a 25% profit margin.”

As soon as these words were spoken, the excitement on everyone’s faces could no longer be hidden.

A 25% profit margin would be a very considerable income.

Amidst the discussions, many had already cast their eyes on Qin Mu.

Qin Zheng quietly pulled off such a big deal without a sound. Who knew what Qin Mu was thinking?

Qin Mu wasn’t thinking much; he was just very much looking forward to Qin Zheng’s next words.

Before Qin Zheng could even speak again, Qin Yanchen, who had been sitting quietly, suddenly asked:

“What are the conditions?”

This deal, no matter how you looked at it, was extremely lucrative.

In business, ‘Zhaohui’ had no reason to hand such a large piece of cake to them.

Sure enough, when Qin Zheng heard these three words, his face stiffened, and he replied stiffly:

“The other party demands that we provide all the required goods within one week.”

“One week!”

Everyone was shocked.

“How is this possible! Delivering such a huge quantity in one week is simply impossible.”

“Manager Qin, are you sure you verified this clearly? Isn’t ‘Zhaohui’ clearly playing games with us?”

“Even counting all the company’s existing stock, it’s still far from enough. One week! How could the factory possibly finish in time?”

Facing everyone’s doubts, Qin Zheng remained silent.

Qin Yanchen, who had not expressed an opinion until now, spoke up at this moment:

“Qin Zheng, how did you negotiate with them?”

Qin Zheng paused, then replied: “The person I negotiated with was Manager Ji from their company. The reason he gave was that the first batch of production requires a very large number of parts for expenditure and wear and tear, involving production secrets, and needs to be delivered all at once. The only company in the entire city capable of supplying such a quantity is ‘Zhenqin’.”

He looked at Qin Yanchen.

“Mr. Qin, this is an opportunity. If we truly finalize this cooperation, the company will gain not just a huge income, but also recognition from the government.”

How could Qin Yanchen not understand?

He scanned the contract, reading ten lines at a glance. The contract itself had no issues. ‘Zhaohui’’s reputation had been thoroughly established since it won this project. Cooperating with them would be fine even with lower profits, let alone a 25% profit margin.

It was just that the other party’s demand was nothing short of making things difficult for them.

He put down the contract, making a final decision:

“Let’s forget about this cooperation for now. We’ll look for another opportunity next time.”

“Mr. Qin—”

“Qin Zheng!” he interrupted coldly.

Qin Yanchen looked at him, his eyes containing a hidden warning.

“Meeting adjourned. You come to my office.”

Qin Zheng slightly lowered his head and responded.

Qin Mu watched, still wanting more. The greed and desire in Qin Zheng’s eyes destined him not to give up so easily, and Qin Yanchen, being a new official, would certainly not allow him to test his bottom line like this.

Qin Yanchen was the first to leave the meeting room, with Qin Zheng following close behind. The others were still murmuring about the project, half in support, half in opposition.

In this world, how many people can truly remain unmoved when faced with such a large, objective sum?

The good show ended, yet it made people incredibly anticipate what would come next.

The CEO’s office was not far from the meeting room. Qin Mu walked over slowly, one hand in his pocket.

When he was still a few steps away, he heard Qin Yanchen’s reprimanding voice from inside.

It was time for settling accounts.

Doing such a big thing behind his back, without a whisper of it getting out, and even outwardly complying but inwardly defying – Qin Zheng’s move had indeed stepped on Qin Yanchen’s raw nerve.

Qin Mu listened for a while, a smile playing on his lips, then slowly ambled back to his own office.

He had no work to do at Qin’s; he was a shareholder but not an employee, and no one dared to disturb him. But this time when he returned, he unexpectedly found someone sitting in his office.

A woman.

Qin Mu’s eyes slightly cooled, and the smile at the corner of his mouth receded.

Yan Yi was sitting in his chair, her small frame sinking into the black leather cushion. She seemed to have been waiting for a long time, a hint of impatience already showing in her brows and eyes. Only when she saw him did she lift her smiling face again.

“Brother Qin Mu!”

Qin Mu closed the door behind him.

The speed at which gossip spread in the company was simply too fast. Conversations held with an open door would, in less than a day, turn into multiple embellished versions circulating among various departments.

He had no interest in being the subject of gossip.

For such matters, having Qin Zheng alone as the protagonist was enough.

“What is it?” he asked, sitting on the guest sofa and giving her a cold glance.

Yan Yi got up and sat back down beside him. This time, there seemed to be a new level of confidence in her eyes.

“Qin Mu, I know everything.”

She whispered in his ear.

Qin Mu paused, then turned his head to look.

Yan Yi’s mouth curved upwards, smiling with unusual confidence.

“Qiao Sen told me everything about you and Jiang Yunhan. As for that Jian Yunchen—”

“Hmph.” Contempt spilled from the girl’s eyes: “If you really liked him, you wouldn’t be chasing Jiang Yunhan while also being ambiguous with Jian Yunchen.”

“Qin Mu, you don’t like him that much at all.”

“Or rather, you don’t like anyone. This is just a way for you to pass the time.”

“Playing around with people, isn’t that what you like to do most?”

Qin Mu let out a sneer.

He leaned back in his chair, supporting his chin with his fingertips, looking at her indifferently, a mocking curve on his lips.

He chuckled and asked, “Who are you? Do I know you?”

Yan Yi’s face went blank for a moment, then instantly turned into full of grievance and indignation.

“You forgot me, Qin Mu.”

“Isn’t it normal to forget you?” Qin Mu countered.

“You promised me you wouldn’t forget me.”

Qin Mu: “……”

That was what the original owner promised, not what he promised.

The girl sniffled, her eyes a little red. She lowered her head, and after a long moment, suddenly whispered:

“Qin Mu, it’s okay if you’ve forgotten me. As long as you agree to be with me, I’ll give you whatever you want.”

She looked up at him, enunciating each word clearly:

“Didn’t you establish ‘Zhaohui’ to compete for Qin’s Corporation? As long as you marry me, I’ll have my dad, my brother, and everyone you can use, all help you.”
