Chapter 53#
He was the one who said he wanted to push him down, and he was the one who was unhappy when he actually jumped.#
It had been a while since they reached the ground, but Qin Mu had not let go of his embrace. Jian Yunchen gently patted his back and called out softly, “Qin Mu…”
Qin Mu seemed to awaken from a dream, and the strength of his embrace suddenly loosened. He took off the parachute pack on his body, threw it on the ground, turned around without a word, and walked away.
Jian Yunchen, left behind, was stunned for a moment before chasing after him.
“Qin Mu—”
Qin Mu stopped when his wrist was grabbed.
Jian Yunchen’s heart inexplicably began to race. He tightened his fingers, and under his palm, the clear outline of Qin Mu’s wrist bone was so sharp that it even caused a slight pain. Only after his feet touched the ground did his reason gradually return. He realized belatedly how foolish he had been just now.
At that moment, he felt as if he had been possessed, only wanting to tear off Qin Mu’s perfect mask and glimpse the most real emotions beneath.
Such words could not be spoken.
“I’m sorry,” his voice was extremely dry. “Qin Mu, I…”
Qin Mu abruptly flung his hand away.
He turned to look at Jian Yunchen. His face was expressionless, with only the burning anger in his eyes being the sole bright spot in his cold demeanor. “Are you crazy? Do you know that what you just did was no different from seeking death?”
“Do you want to die that much?”
His hand, which had been flung away, hung awkwardly in the air. Jian Yunchen pursed his slightly pale lips, not daring to reach out again.
Qin Mu, however, did not leave him there. After walking a few steps forward, his pace slowed, as if offering him an invisible step down.
Jian Yunchen clenched his fingertips and followed.
On the way home, the atmosphere in the car was unusually heavy. After Qin Mu put away his usual smile, his cold face exuded an overwhelming sense of pressure, making the small car interior feel suffocating.
Several times, Jian Yunchen tried to speak to ease the atmosphere, but he was so intimidated by Qin Mu’s expression that he swallowed his words. He knew he had done something wrong, but Qin Mu’s attitude also made him feel wronged.
He was the one who said he wanted to push him down, and he was the one who was unhappy when he actually jumped.
Jian Yunchen pouted. The apology that had been on the tip of his tongue was swallowed back, leaving only a belly full of grievances and frustration. He turned to look out the car window, the transparent glass reflecting his somewhat pale face.
Qin Mu glanced at him from the corner of his eye, his fingers on the steering wheel tightening.
The car stopped outside the Jiang family villa. Jian Yunchen hadn’t managed to comfort himself on the way home; instead, the more he thought about it, the more wronged he felt. The car hadn’t even stopped completely before his hand was already on the door-opening button.
The anticipated action of slamming the door and leaving was halted at the first step – the car door was locked.
He deliberately made a lot of noise, prying at the car door. Qin Mu remained unmoved.
Jian Yunchen couldn’t bring himself to be so obvious, and he said coldly with his back to Qin Mu, “Open the door.”
A soft click of the seatbelt being released came from behind him.
The next second, the familiar embrace enveloped him once more. Qin Mu’s presence lingered beside him. Jian Yunchen’s hand, which was holding the switch, paused. His nose inexplicably stung, and the anger in his heart was extinguished by more than half.
Qin Mu, however, reached past him and pressed the door lock.
After the crisp “click,” Jian Yunchen’s face burned like fire. He dared not look up, took a sniff, and prepared to get out of the car.
But his action of opening the door was blocked.
Qin Mu tightened his arm and held him tightly in his embrace. He gently rested his chin on Jian Yunchen’s shoulder, sighed, which was rare for him.
“You’re still angry.” His voice lowered, close to Jian Yunchen’s ear. “Do you know that if there had been the slightest mistake today, we would be in the hospital emergency room right now?”
Jian Yunchen’s muffled mood softened a bit with these words, which were mixed with helplessness and compromise. It was as if a cloud of sourness had been washed clean by the rain. He leaned back into Qin Mu’s embrace, his voice muffled, “I know… Didn’t I apologize to you? And you scared me first.”
“At most… I promise you, I won’t be so impulsive next time…”
He said this with great guilt. Ever since he had known Qin Mu, the composure he had developed from living alone for more than ten years seemed to have suddenly failed. He always did things he couldn’t explain himself.
Qin Mu did not speak.
This time, the silence was not as tense as it had been on the way there. Instead, it was like a tranquil stream, flowing slowly around the two of them, allowing their breaths to mingle.
Qin Mu closed his eyes, feeling a bit bad.
He thought Jian Yunchen had fallen in love with him.
This was not a good sign…
It wasn’t Jian Yunchen who was losing control, but him.
He sighed softly and slowly tightened his arms.
He lowered his eyes to look at the defenseless person in his embrace. The other person was leaning against him lazily, their bodies fitting perfectly. His heart was pressed by the weight of the body, and an indescribable emotion filled his chest, merging into a strange emotional impact that made his heart pound.
Qin Mu remembered why he initially enjoyed extreme sports. He liked that sense of conquest and fulfillment, the thrill of being on the verge of losing control but firmly holding onto it. He liked the feeling of existence that came from his heart pounding violently during intense exercise.
But what he didn’t understand was why, now that he was so proficient, this feeling had returned.
Jian Yunchen falling in love with him should have been the perfect part of his plan.
The quickest way to complete the task, the smartest approach.
Not for him to fall in love with the villain, but for the villain to fall in love with him.
Qin Mu suddenly realized.
Jian Yunchen was the villain.
His ending was to remain in a mental hospital for the rest of his life after all his plans failed.
This was Jian Yunchen’s ending.
“Jian Yunchen.” Qin Mu’s voice suddenly rang out. “What do you want?”
“What?” The topic came out of nowhere. Jian Yunchen turned his head to look at him. The dim yellow headlights cast a blurred light, illuminating Qin Mu’s deep eyes. He rarely saw such seriousness on Qin Mu’s face.
Jian Yunchen was silent for a few seconds, then repeated the same question, “Will you give me whatever I want?”
Qin Mu smiled. “That depends on whether you have the guts to ask for it.”
Jian Yunchen also smiled, his eyes curving into crescent moons, continuing the words that had been interrupted earlier. “If you dare to give it to me, I dare to ask for it.”
The brief unpleasantness dissipated in their banter. They chatted for a while, and as time passed, the lonely road had no other cars passing by.
Jian Yunchen got out of the car. The Jiang family villa was not far away. The entire mountainside was occupied by this one residence.
He bent down and waved at Qin Mu. “Be careful on the road.”
Qin Mu started the engine, a smile flickering in his eyes, and he waved back.
When he pushed the door open, Jian Yunchen’s face still carried a lingering smile.
In the hall, the housekeeper had been waiting for a long time. He bowed respectfully, but his tone was a firm notification. “Mr. Jiang is waiting for you in the study. He said to find him as soon as you get back.”
Jian Yunchen’s expression turned cold, and he walked up the stairs to the second floor.
The moment he pushed the door open, a fierce argument erupted from inside the room. As the sound of things being smashed fell, a sharp cry reached Jian Yunchen’s ears:
“What else are you hiding from me!”
