Chapter 35#
As soon as 77 opened its eyes, it saw its two villains hugging each other.#
“A knife isn’t something a good boy should play with.”
A playful voice came from above. Qin Mu was toying with a thin blade in his hand; the folding knife sheathed and then unfolded fluently, resembling a deadly dance in the light.
Qin Mu soothed the trembling body beneath him until it gradually became calm. He let out a chuckle, his calm gaze slowly sweeping over Jian Jinbao, speaking meaningfully: “Next time, I’ll teach you how to play with it properly. There are many ways to use a knife—plenty of ways that are effective without getting your hands dirty.”
His grim tone, coupled with the blade’s light reflecting off his face from time to time, added a layer of mystery and danger to his words.
Unfortunately, Jian Jinbao was drunk and his consciousness was blurred; otherwise, he would have quickly realized the deeper meaning behind Qin Mu’s words.
He stared wide-eyed at the movements of Qin Mu and Jian Yunchen. After freezing for a full two seconds, he stumbled and pulled his phone out of his pocket.
His fingers trembled as he struggled to click several times before finally opening a photo that had been hanging on the internet for an entire day.
Jian Jinbao squinted his eyes to compare the person in the photo with Qin Mu. Suddenly, he let out a “hehe” laugh. As he laughed, the smell of alcohol on him could no longer be hidden. Qin Mu couldn’t help but pull the person in his arms back half a step.
“I recognize you, you are… Qin Mu!”
“Xiao Chen’s boyfriend, right?! Quite a man of talent!”
Jian Yunchen moved slightly, but was lightly pressed down by Qin Mu.
Qin Mu shot a brief glance at Jian Jinbao, neither confirming nor denying it.
Jian Jinbao didn’t care about the other’s contemptuous attitude. With the air of nobility Qin Mu exuded, his presence here was eye-catching enough. Furthermore, the sports car parked downstairs served as evidence to the facts regarding Qin Mu’s identity being discussed online.
He didn’t understand things like the Qin Group or the Jiang Group, nor did he understand terms like “heir,” “political marriage,” or “kept man.”
But he understood one principle:
[Once you enter the door of a house, you are part of the family.]
Since they were all family, borrowing some money for turnover was only natural.
“Xiao Qin, how long have you and Xiao Chen been together? You should have said you were coming earlier. Look, I’ve made a fool of myself today. I am the only elder in Yunchen’s family. If you have any filial offerings, just give them to me. I’ve taken quite a bit of care of him over these years.”
Jian Yunchen’s spine gradually stiffened at those words.
He couldn’t even stand to listen to this; he didn’t understand where Jian Jinbao got the nerve to say such things.
Even more shameful was that all of this was happening right under Qin Mu’s nose.
Qin Mu didn’t seem to mind, lightly stroking Jian Yunchen’s back. He looked up, a cold smile playing on his lips. “How much do you want?”
Jian Jinbao immediately beamed with joy, so happy he almost couldn’t hold his phone steady. He stated an amount he considered large enough, but worried the other wouldn’t be willing to give it, he cautiously gestured a “two” with his fingers.
Qin Mu’s brow quirked slightly. He pulled out his phone and efficiently transferred two million over.
It wasn’t until the bank notification sounded that Jian Yunchen snapped out of it. It all happened too fast; he never truly thought Qin Mu would actually send the money.
Jian Yunchen glared, grabbing Qin Mu’s collar. “How could you give it to him? Don’t you know he—” A wave of inexplicable grievance rushed into his heart. Looking at the stinging smile on Jian Jinbao’s face, Jian Yunchen wished he could eat his flesh and drink his blood; how could he be willing to give him money?
He broke free from Qin Mu’s embrace and took a step forward, wanting to snatch the other’s phone. Before he could touch it, he was pulled back by Qin Mu again.
This time, held tightly in his arms, Jian Yunchen’s eyes slowly reddened.
“What’s the rush?”
Qin Mu’s voice carried a hint of reproach.
Jian Yunchen stiffened his neck and turned his head away completely, ignoring him.
Jian Jinbao, however, was startled by Jian Yunchen’s sudden movement, which cleared much of his drunken stupor. But having received a huge sum of money, he was in a great mood, so he magnanimously decided not to bicker with Jian Yunchen.
“Yunchen, after all these years, you’re still so impulsive. Look at how sensible your boyfriend is. You should learn more about how to respect your elders. You’ve only got that skin of yours going for you; shouldn’t you be doing more to coax him?”
He didn’t understand the homosexual community. Although society was much more open nowadays, he still looked down on these people from the bottom of his soul. He glanced sideways at Qin Mu, thinking to himself: What’s the use of being rich and handsome? If you like men, you can’t even produce a son.
Jian Yunchen closed his eyes and bit his lower lip hard. Listening to those foul words, he had to keep taking deep breaths to keep himself from grabbing the knife back from Qin Mu’s hand.
However, Qin Mu took an action that was unexpected by everyone present.
He took out his phone and called the police.
The reason: Someone had come to the door with threats and extortion, the amount being two million.
The amount was huge and the nature of the case was severe; the other side quickly indicated they would dispatch officers immediately.
Qin Mu said with a smile: “Cooperation between the police and the public—as it should be.”
From beginning to end, Qin Mu didn’t hide his actions from anyone. Jian Jinbao naturally heard the whole thing. At first, he didn’t take it seriously, but as soon as the words “extortion” and “two million” came out, he realized he had been trapped.
His blood pressure spiked and his hand shook, causing his phone to drop. The old-fashioned phone tumbled down several steps on the staircase, and its dim light flickered out completely.
The sensor light chose that moment to break entirely, plunging the area into darkness. The rage of being fooled and the resentment toward Jian Yunchen reached a peak at this moment.
Jian Jinbao picked up a glass shard from the floor and lunged forward.
A cold, viscous red liquid hit the ink-colored floor.
Gradually mixing into the grime.
Jian Yunchen’s eyes widened, and his breathing stopped for a moment.
Qin Mu’s hand had tightly gripped the glass shard that was meant to stab into the small of Jian Yunchen’s back.
The palm was sliced open by the sharp fragment, and blood dripped down along the sharp edge. There wasn’t a trace of a smile left on Qin Mu’s face; only when the smile faded could one see the icy killing intent that had already risen in his eyes.
Qin Mu pulled forcefully, and the glass immediately left the other’s hand, being tossed to the floor. He raised his foot and, taking advantage of Jian Jinbao’s momentary daze, kicked him hard.
Jian Jinbao was kicked down the stairs, his large body tumbling several times before reaching the corner of the second floor.
His head slammed heavily against the floor. Jian Jinbao wailed, feeling like every part of him was in agonizing pain. The fear of his life being threatened enveloped him. He touched his head, found a hand full of blood, and promptly fainted from fright.
“Qin Mu!”
Jian Yunchen completely lost his composure. Cradling Qin Mu’s hand and looking at the unstoppable flow of blood, his eyes felt sour and painful. He gritted his teeth, and in the darkness, the fragmented light in his eyes was gradually covered by fury.
He snatched up the fruit knife Qin Mu had dropped on the floor, wanting to charge down.
He was once again pulled back by Qin Mu.
Qin Mu held him tightly in his arms, his tone dangerous: “Where are you running off to again?”
Jian Yunchen struggled, but even using only one hand, Qin Mu kept him pinned down. Refusing to back down, he looked up at him, then turned to look at the motionless Jian Jinbao on the second floor: “I’m going to stab him a few more times, otherwise I won’t feel satisfied.”
Qin Mu seemed to be amused by him and rubbed his head with his uninjured hand. This time, Jian Yunchen didn’t pull away.
“Stop messing around. Call 120.”
Jian Yunchen curled his lip: “It would be better if he just died.”
Qin Mu gave a “tsk”: “Do I not need a bandage?”
Jian Yunchen paused, then very reluctantly pulled out his phone and obediently made the call.
In the darkness, Jian Yunchen huddled in Qin Mu’s arms, quietly waiting for help. No one cared about Jian Jinbao lying on the second floor.
The lights flickered on and off. The prying eyes retracted. In the quiet night, only the sound of their breathing remained.
The wound on Qin Mu’s hand wasn’t serious and didn’t hurt much, but Jian Yunchen was scared out of his wits, his face even paler than before. Qin Mu found it interesting and intentionally didn’t say anything.
Suddenly, a flash of blue light appeared in mid-air.
The system that had been missing for a long time appeared again.
As soon as 77 opened its eyes, it saw its two villains hugging each other.
