Chapter 3#
You are the one I want.#
Qin Mu lazily drooped his eyelids and swept a cold glance at 77.
77’s blue light flashed; a sense of pressure rushed toward it. If the other party got unhappy and threw in the towel, causing this world to turn upside down, the losses would outweigh the gains.
The system’s electronic voice returned to its businesslike calm: 【Host, your mission content is to assist the protagonist in suppressing the villain and guide the story back to its proper track. It is not for you to physically eliminate the villain before the story has even begun.】
The electronic voice sounded slightly helpless: 【If you kill him off, will you be the one to play the villain?】
Qin Mu raised his brows slightly. In his view, wasn’t it the same thing?
Before he transmigrated into the book, he had already finished reading the entire story.
In the book, Jian Yunchen was the young master of the Jiang family who had been lost and wandering outside, while the protagonist of this book was his older brother, Jiang Yunhan.
The story began during the year Jiang Yunhan entered university. He met the protagonist gong, Qin Zheng. The two were in the same university and their relationship grew increasingly close. During their sophomore year, the Jiang family mysteriously recognized and brought back a younger brother.
Jian Yunchen was jealous of everything his brother possessed. He plotted behind the scenes to deal with him, stole everything that belonged to the protagonist, and even attempted to completely replace Jiang Yunhan.
However, from beginning to end, Qin Zheng only loved Jiang Yunhan. He saw through Jian Yunchen’s schemes and exposed his conspiracy. In the end, Jian Yunchen suffered a mental breakdown and spent the rest of his life in a psychiatric hospital.
Qin Zheng and Jiang Yunhan went through many hardships and eventually became a couple.
Originally, Qin Zheng was just an illegitimate son who couldn’t be shown in public, but he gained Jiang Yunhan’s favor and the support of the Jiang family, easily seizing the reins of power in the Qin family. The two strong individuals joined forces and finally reached a happy ending.
As for Qin Mu himself, he was the original heir of the Qin family in this story, the “unlucky sucker” who handed over the family business on a silver platter.
He was even just one among Jiang Yunhan’s many suitors.
His existence, besides serving to raise the protagonist gong’s strength and wealth to a higher level, was to act as a foil for the protagonist shou’s charm.
In the original plot, he went offline early; he was a literal “cannon fodder” in every sense of the word.
Qin Mu gave a light sneer and spat out two words in a low voice:
“Troublesome.”
He still had to wait for the storyline to finish before he could complete this damn mission?
Jian Yunchen lay on the ground, coughing with difficulty. Several striking red marks rose on his fair neck, and his veins were fully visible.
He shrank back, his back arching and his lines tightening. His consciousness was already blurred and double-visioned, but he still looked at the man in front of him with vigilance.
He didn’t understand why the other party had attacked or why he had let go, but that didn’t stop him from speculating with the greatest malice.
Jian Yunchen barely caught his breath, his face pale. When he spoke, his voice was slightly hoarse: “Guest… you must have drunk too much and mistaken me for someone else. Tonight was just an accident; you don’t need to take it to heart.”
The young man curled his body, speaking politely but with a stiff tone that leaked resentment. It made sense; even a clay man has a bit of a temper. After having his neck squeezed for no reason, Jian Yunchen likely viewed Qin Mu as a lunatic in his heart.
Qin Mu smiled nonchalantly, his tone casual. “I didn’t mistake you. You are the one I’m looking for.”
He stared at Jian Yunchen’s face, enunciating every word: “Jian. Yun. Chen.”
The step provided for a graceful exit was kicked away by the other party. Jian Yunchen didn’t know where he had provoked such a madman. The burning sensation on his neck remained. Given that he couldn’t guarantee his own safety, he didn’t dare to simply faint like this. He bit the tip of his tongue hard; the smell of blood instantly filled his mouth, and the sharp pain cleared his nerves for a moment.
“Heh…” He gave a cold laugh and lifted his eyes. His sharp gaze shimmered in the dim light. “Who? Who sent you? How much did they give? I… I can give you double.”
Qin Mu knelt on one knee and leaned in close, his warm breath completely enveloping Jian Yunchen.
Like prey being targeted, Jian Yunchen’s subconscious alarms blared loudly, dangerous signals constantly stimulating his taut nerves.
Qin Mu reached out and pinched his jaw, his thumb pressing against his chin, rubbing with moderate force. Their breaths drew closer, and the warm air slowly began to intertwine, causing the surrounding temperature to rise.
Jian Yunchen narrowed his eyes. The force on his jaw was great, easily suppressing all his resistance. In this situation, all struggling was futile; going head-to-head wouldn’t yield any benefit.
He forced himself to relax his tense body and pushed all his emotions into the depths of his eyes. When he looked up, however, he crashed straight into Qin Mu’s gaze.
These eyes were very beautiful, slightly upturned with deep double eyelid folds. When not smiling, they appeared distant and cold, but at this moment, those pupils were heavily adorned with flickers of excitement. Combined with that half-smile on his lips, it made one’s heart turn cold for no reason.
Jian Yunchen saw those thin lips move slightly, unhurriedly spitting out a few words.
“You are the one I want.”
The clear, pleasant voice echoed repeatedly in Jian Yunchen’s roaring brain, cutting off all external sounds as if he could only hear this one sentence.
Jian Yunchen’s pupils constricted. He could feel it—the other party was serious.
…Damn it, lunatic.
He clenched his back teeth, his masseter muscle twitching slightly. As soon as he opened his mouth, the smell of blood surged up instantly, choking the redness at the corners of his eyes into an even more vivid hue.
“You fucking… dare to touch me,” he gasped, gritting his teeth: “I will absolutely kill you.”
Qin Mu let out a low laugh and used the pad of his thumb to wipe away that bit of moisture from the corner of the other’s eye. The force wasn’t light, rubbing that patch of fair skin into a large red area.
“I’ve touched you. What are you going to do about it?”
Jian Yunchen’s body felt waves of heat; the alcohol mixed with drugs was tearing at his fragile nerves.
When the wine was delivered, in order to avoid falling into a trap, he had even drunk from an unsealed bottle he brought himself when the other party requested a drink. He hadn’t expected the drug to be dispersed in the air; from the moment he entered, they never intended to let him leave conscious.
He narrowed his eyes and glared at Qin Mu. The other man’s grip remained firmly fixed on his jaw, hurting him so much that he couldn’t control the physiological tears gathering in his eyes.
In the next second, Jian Yunchen suddenly opened his mouth and bit down on Qin Mu’s knuckle with all his strength. His sharp canines sank in ruthlessly, piercing the flesh and tasting the metallic blood of another person.
Qin Mu gave a soft “hiss.”
He didn’t pull his hand away, nor did he get angry; he just lowered his eyes and watched him bite quietly.
After a long time, the other party’s strength gradually weakened. Jian Yunchen could no longer resist the effects of the drug and lost consciousness completely.
A moment before he fell unconscious, as if in disgust, he frowned and spat twice, spitting out the blood from Qin Mu’s hand.
Qin Mu let out a laugh of exasperation.
Residual blood splashed onto Jian Yunchen’s lips. Qin Mu wiped it away casually, spreading that streak of crimson across the other’s bloodless lips.
“Teeth are quite sharp.”
He commented in a low voice.
Lips are also quite soft.
Qin Mu stood up, prepared to pat his butt and leave. The second he lifted his foot, 77 popped up to speak again.
【Host, are you just going to leave the villain here like this?】
Qin Mu glanced at the unconscious Jian Yunchen on the floor and said dismissively: “Otherwise? Do I have to stay and be his mother?”
【……】
【If the villain dies, your mission will also be counted as a failure.】
Qin Mu’s footsteps paused. His face turned gloomy, yet his lips curled into a smile.
“Is that so?”
