Chapter 29#
Qin Mu, open your eyes and take a good look at who I am.#
Qin Mu still wore that same smiling, frivolous expression. He blinked innocently: “What about me? I’ve snatched Xiao Han away, isn’t that a big enough surprise?”
Qin Zheng’s heart, which had just risen into his throat, instantly settled back down.
It made sense; how could a good-for-nothing like Qin Mu be the one to drag Tang Rong down?
He let out a cold snort, ignoring the childish declaration.
“If there’s nothing else, please return to your own office. I have many documents to process.”
Qin Mu shrugged and retreated without a care.
As the heavy doors slowly closed, Qin Zheng received an internal message:
The strike against Tang Rong came from “Zhaohui.” No one knew if this President Shan was acting on a whim or seeking a personal vendetta; all they knew was that the opponent’s methods were extremely sophisticated. Before anyone could react, they had rapidly acquired Tang Rong’s plummeting shares. In an instant, the company had changed hands and been renamed “Shan.”
Furthermore, while the Qin Group’s stock price was volatile, “Zhaohui” was also aggressively accumulating shares. In other words, the sole beneficiary of this scandal was the big boss behind “Zhaohui.”
One could say they had made a fortune out of the chaos.
Qin Zheng slowly scanned the information, his fingertips tightening until Tang Rong’s name appeared on his phone again.
He impatiently hung up and blacklisted the number. When he looked up again, his expression had returned to its usual indifference. He dialed his assistant: “Deal with Tang Rong. Do not accept any more messages from him. Send him a portion of the files we have; he’ll behave himself.”
The assistant replied with a “Yes.”
After “Dream” was renovated, it reopened for business. Having won a brilliant battle today, Qin Mu invited Qin Qiaosen, Wen Xing, and others to gather there.
Since Qin Mu took over Dream, he had renovated the place according to his own tastes. Following the renovation, business had become even more explosive than before.
Jiang Yunhan was not very well-adjusted to this kind of environment. Sitting beside Qin Mu, he felt somewhat uneasy. After dodging several rounds of drinks, he finally couldn’t avoid it anymore and took a few sips from his glass.
Even in such a noisy environment, Jiang Yunhan’s voice remained very clear, as crisp as spring water, cutting through the music directly into Qin Mu’s ears.
“Qin Mu, I’ve done everything you asked me to do.”
“You promised me,” Jiang Yunhan looked up at him, his eyes carrying a trace of unconscious pleading. “You won’t pester Yunchen anymore.”
Qin Mu’s lips curled into a smile as he let out a soft sigh: “Xiao Han, you’ve really wronged me.”
In the dim light, Qin Mu’s eyes shimmered with a watery glint, alluring yet seemingly unaware of it: “How could I possibly pester him?”
Jiang Yunhan’s heart skipped a beat. He averted his gaze and nervously pursed his lips.
“Anyway, you promised me. You can’t stay entangled with Yunchen anymore. Yunchen is… he’s my biological younger brother. Father will acknowledge him sooner or later.”
This warning-laden statement went in one of Qin Mu’s ears and out the other.
He nodded, readily agreeing to the condition.
Seeing that Qin Mu had relented, Jiang Yunhan relaxed significantly. With a genuine smile on his face, he began to join the others in their revelry and started drinking.
Qin Mu also tilted his head back and finished the wine in his glass.
He had promised not to pester Jian Yunchen.
But if Jian Yunchen was the one who insisted on pestering him, there was nothing he could do about it.
After three rounds of drinks, Qin Mu hadn’t had much, but the others at the table were playing wildly. Of the dozen or so people, only three remained at the table.
Qin Mu had no intention of taking responsibility for them. His designated driver had sent a message saying they were on the way. He narrowed his eyes and replied with a “good.”
Before leaving, he decided to use the restroom.
The moment he passed a stall, a hand reached out, grabbed his shoulder firmly, and pulled him inside.
The moment the other person moved, Qin Mu’s slight intoxication vanished instantly. He reacted quickly, intending to counter, but in the next second, a familiar scent drifted to his nose. In the dim room, the music was mostly shut out, leaving only a faint melody flowing slowly.
Qin Mu relaxed his strength and was easily pinned against the wall.
The other person was extremely close, their supple body pressing into his arms. Qin Mu reached out to wrap an arm around him, his palm pressing against the small of the other’s back, giving it a light squeeze.
“Brother Qin Mu… you’re drunk…”
Qin Mu suppressed a smile, tilting his head to graze the other’s ear as he murmured, “Mmh… not drunk.”
The other person finally lifted his head. The dim light only illuminated half of his face. His previously intimate posture shifted into a face masked with coldness. He grabbed Qin Mu’s tie, pulling their distance close instantly. Those dark eyes stared straight at him, their hot breaths entwining until they were indistinguishable.
He said in a cold voice: “Qin Mu, open your eyes and take a good look at who I am.”
Qin Mu retracted his smile. His well-defined hand cupped Jian Yunchen’s cheek, his thumb gently tapping the corner of the boy’s eye.
“Jian Yunchen.”
His voice lost its playfulness, becoming deep and lingering with a hint of hoarseness. Just by having his name softly called, the fire simmering in Jian Yunchen’s heart unconsciously dissipated by half.
His gaze flickered, yet he refused to let go. The two maintained this intimate posture; if they weren’t careful while speaking, they would easily kiss.
“Why didn’t you tell me about you and Jiang Yunhan?”
Qin Mu’s eyebrows arched slightly. His palm slowly warmed the other’s cool cheek. The skin there was delicate and smooth, and he couldn’t help but stroke it gently: “Isn’t this result good?”
“It’s not good.” The softening light in Jian Yunchen’s eyes turned back into coldness: “Why did it have to be him?”
“It could only be him.”
Only Jiang Yunhan looked exactly like him; if not him, where else could he find another triplet?
But to Jian Yunchen’s ears, these words meant something entirely different.
He suddenly gave a self-mocking laugh.
He let go of his grip.
The physical distance hadn’t changed much, yet an invisible chasm had opened between them.
What a line—“it could only be him.”
Truly ridiculous and foolish.
He always thought it would be different.
But every single time, it was the same.
Jian Yunchen didn’t say another word. He turned to leave, but the moment he opened the door, he was stopped by Qin Mu.
“Where are you going?” Qin Mu grabbed his wrist, frowning slightly.
This was clearly the approach that maximized benefits. Not only was Jian Yunchen cleared of the suspicion of being a “kept man,” but Qin Mu himself had extricated himself and even used the chaos to acquire Qin Group shares. With such a result, what was there to be dissatisfied with?
That was what he thought, and that was what he asked.
Jian Yunchen stood with his back to him. After a long silence, he only dropped one soft sentence:
“But I am not Jiang Yunhan.”
After saying that, he turned and left. This time, Qin Mu did not stop him.
That sentence, which couldn’t even be called an explanation, struck Qin Mu’s heart heavily, echoing repeatedly.
Perhaps it was because, as Jian Yunchen left, he had seen the faint glint of moisture at the corner of the other’s eye.
