Chapter 21#
“So, are you coming home with me?”#
“I really underestimated you.”
In Jiang Sheng’s calm and unperturbed tone, there was an indescribable disdain.
He raised his eyes, and a cold glint flashed in his spectacles: “You got into A University, approached Yun Han, what exactly do you want? Didn’t I tell you very clearly last time? Don’t appear in front of Yun Han and me again, do you really think I can’t do anything about you?”
Jian Yunchen hooked his lips into a smile; when he smiled, the gloom on the young man’s face vanished, making him resemble Jiang Yunhan even more.
“What are you talking about? I don’t understand. Didn’t you call me here today? As soon as I arrived, someone led me to your office. I thought it was your intention.”
“Wasn’t it?”
Jiang Sheng slapped the documents in his hand onto the table, “Don’t think I don’t know what petty tricks you’ve been playing behind my back. You’d better stop those underhanded methods right away.”
Jian Yunchen glanced over, the folder was open, scattering some photos of him and Qin Mu together. From the time he enrolled, someone had been monitoring him every day.
He picked up a few photos and examined them carefully, then turned his gaze back to Jiang Sheng, sneering, “Mr. Jiang certainly went to great lengths. I’m truly flattered.”
The sarcasm in his words was extremely grating. Jiang Sheng had been in power for many years and had not heard anyone speak to him in such a tone for a long time.
He frowned instantly: “As expected of someone raised by a commoner, completely uncultured.”
These words pierced Jian Yunchen without reservation. He dropped the smile from his face, his expression turning gloomy, and a mocking curve appeared at the corner of his mouth: “Wasn’t this commoner also chosen by you?”
Jiang Sheng’s face grew cold, but he didn’t retort.
He didn’t know Jian Xin, but it was indeed he who personally chose her to be the mother of these two children.
No one expected that she would secretly hide a baby boy to satisfy her selfish desires.
Jiang Sheng’s idea was simple: the Jiang family needed an heir, and only one heir.
Jiang Yunhan grew up by his side, receiving the most advanced education and highest etiquette.
As for Jian Yunchen.
He followed a selfish and greedy woman, growing up struggling in the slums, and even his guardian was addicted to many vices.
Truly, unfit for great responsibilities.
Jiang Sheng’s calm eyes returned to normal, he looked at him: “Tell me, how much do you want?”
The last sum of money didn’t fill his appetite, so that greedy heart stirred again.
Jian Yunchen chuckled, his brows and eyes tinged with pleasure. He deliberately adopted Jiang Yunhan’s tone: “What I want is very simple, merely everything of the Jiang family, Father.”
Jiang Sheng’s face completely hardened.
“I am confident I can do better than brother. I will be a more suitable heir.”
Jiang Sheng finally couldn’t help but sneer. He hadn’t expected the person in front of him to have an even bigger appetite than he had imagined.
Jian Yunchen put on a docile expression, blinked at him, his smile gentle: “Speaking of which, Jian Xin gave me a report. I wonder if it’s the one you’ve been looking for.”
“If it is, that’s really unfortunate. You didn’t expect it, did you? Jian Xin was locked up by you for so long, yet the report is with me.”
Jiang Sheng’s lips tightened, his eyes darkening.
“Threats don’t work on me.”
“And I didn’t lock her up, I just cooperated with her treatment.”
Jian Yunchen couldn’t help but let out a scoff.
“You’d best drop that idea. I will never hand the Jiang family over to you.”
“Alright,” Jian Yunchen smiled, agreeing unusually straightforwardly: “Then acknowledge me as part of the Jiang family.”
“……”
Amidst the silence, Jiang Sheng’s gaze couldn’t help but scrutinize him.
After a long while, Jiang Sheng’s emotionless words softly echoed in the office.
“Let me see your worth, then it shall be as you wish.”
Jian Yunchen’s gaze, sharp as a torch, remained fixed on him. Upon hearing these words, his eyes instantly burst forth with an even more brilliant light, mixed with an ambition that could not be hidden.
In the evening, Jian Yunchen made a phone call.
The other end of the line was noisy, the music so loud it vibrated through the screen.
He frowned, “Where are you?”
The other end was silent for a few seconds, “Who are you?”
Jian Yunchen frowned even deeper. He looked at his phone screen, confirmed the number was correct, and then said to the other side: “Where’s Qin Mu? I need to talk to him.”
Qin Qiaosen raised an eyebrow, noting the tone of accusation from the other end. Looking at the contact’s name, he said with an air of watching a good show, “Oh, so you’re ‘Little Flower’.”
What ‘Little Flower’?!
Jian Yunchen’s temple twitched, suspecting his ears had been damaged by the super-decibel music from the other end.
The voice on that side continued: “Little Flower, come quickly, Brother Qin is drunk. The address is Yuchen Road.”
Jian Yunchen gritted his teeth and hung up.
What ‘Little Flower’? I’m ‘Little Grass’!
Jian Yunchen arrived quickly. When he appeared in the booth wearing a mask, Qin Qiaosen immediately recognized him as the male university student Qin Mu had “kept” last time.
Qin Mu had been extremely busy lately, having to return to work at Qin Group and prepare for the new company’s opening ceremony.
In just a few days, he was so exhausted that his eyes seemed to have dark circles, which were particularly noticeable on his pale skin.
Today, the new company’s opening was complete, officially registered and renamed “Zhaohui.”
He had just finished a drinking party on the Qin Group side, and then rushed to the celebration banquet for Zhaohui.
He had drunk a mix of drinks, and was somewhat tipsy.
But he wasn’t completely unconscious, just leaning back on the sofa, gently closing his eyes, breathing steadily, looking indeed like he was asleep.
Jian Yunchen pulled at his mask and sat down next to Qin Mu. Sensing someone approach, Qin Mu slightly lifted his eyelids. In the dim light, the deafening music continuously played, and the sticky perfume mixed with alcohol assaulted people’s brains; even without drinking, one would feel three-tenths drunk.
Qin Mu recognized him, tilted his head, and leaned over.
Jian Yunchen’s back stiffened. He turned his head to look at the fluffy head on his shoulder, but ultimately didn’t push it away.
“You’re here?” Qin Mu said with a husky voice.
The warmth brushed Jian Yunchen’s ear. He uncomfortably dodged a little, his voice muffled by the mask: “Mm, why did you drink so much?”
Qin Mu was too lazy to open his eyes: “Not drunk.”
Jian Yunchen could tell he was quite drunk.
Otherwise, why would he change his contact name to ‘Little Flower’?
Jian Yunchen didn’t sit for long; he had class tomorrow morning and no time to waste here. He tugged at Qin Mu: “Let’s go, I’ll take you home.”
Qin Mu leaned against the back of the chair, lifted his chin, his narrow, upward-slanted eyes slightly narrowed, gleaming with a shimmering light. The ambiguous colored lights flickered across his face, clearly reflecting his half-smiling, half-not expression, which was extremely captivating.
Jian Yunchen unconsciously licked his lips.
Qin Mu stood up, leaning on him like he had no bones, his clearly smiling voice blending with the music behind them as it entered his ears:
“So, are you coming home with me?”
‘Love it when you pull me closer to the ground.’
(I love it when you pull me closer to the ground,
falling into your dream like weightlessness.)
