Chapter 139#

“Qin Mu, you are loving me well.”#

“What way do you have?” Jiang Yunhan’s eyes lit up, and he asked urgently.

Qin Mu curled his lips, but before he could speak, a cold voice cut him off sharply.

“You go back first.” Jian Yunchen stared at Qin Mu’s smiling face, but he was issuing a dismissal to Jiang Yunhan.

“If the method he mentioned is useful, I will contact you.”

Jiang Yunhan looked up with teary eyes. After lingering for a few seconds on Jian Yunchen’s suddenly cold face, he suppressed his urgency and murmured, “Then… then alright, I’ll head out first…”

Reaching the door, he couldn’t help but turn around and remind them, “If you two discuss it and it’s really useful, contact me at any time…”

Jian Yunchen didn’t even turn his head, coldly dropping a single “Mm.”

The door was opened and then closed. The room became so quiet that only the faint breathing of the two men remained.

Jian Yunchen’s gaze stayed on Qin Mu’s face, watching the composed smile at the corners of his eyes gradually fade.

Qin Mu didn’t speak either; he just quietly lowered his eyes, withdrawing the smile from his lips.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

After a long while, Jian Yunchen spoke softly.

“Why is it that in your plans, there is never a place for me?”

Qin Mu lowered his eyes, his lips tightening. For the first time, he didn’t know how to answer.

This was indeed all part of his plan. He only needed to change a name to allow Jiang Sheng to connect everything. Before this, Qin Zheng’s slander against him, the large-scale acquisition during the stock price drop after Jiang Sheng was imprisoned, and the subsequent deliberate delegation of power to Jian Yunchen—once these clues pointed to Qin Zheng, they easily painted a brilliant and interesting picture in Jiang Sheng’s mind.

Qin Mu had indeed intended to intensify the conflict between the two and guide them into targeting each other.

But the one thing he hadn’t expected was for Qin Zheng to accidentally push him off the building.

He slightly tightened his fingertips, his voice dry: “What do you want to hear?”

Jian Yunchen paused. The anger suppressed in his heart was extinguished by a bucket of cold water, making him shiver subconsciously. A sense of helplessness instantly enveloped his body. The mental tension and fatigue of the past few days surged up at this moment, leaving him suddenly without the strength to say a single word.

“I have nothing left to hear.”

He dropped that sentence and turned to leave.

But his wrist was tightly seized. Jian Yunchen’s footsteps were forced to a halt. The grip was so strong that it began to cause pain. Wisps of pain traveled through his wrist to his heart, and at that instant, a dense wave of soreness and weakness was injected into him.

Suddenly, he felt very aggrieved.

Jian Yunchen turned his head. His fingertips were trembling slightly, and the corners of his eyes drooped unconsciously, stained with a hint of red, hanging there pitifully. “That wasn’t what you promised me last time.”

Qin Mu’s grip tightened. With a forceful pull, he stopped the other man’s struggling and locked him firmly in his embrace.

Locked in the embrace, Jian Yunchen’s struggle became notably more intense. He twisted restlessly, his anger reignited: “Why do you always lie to me? We agreed last time, you promised me! You said you wouldn’t go off and ‘do things alone’ again! That you would tell me!”

Jian Yunchen spoke quickly and urgently, the corners of his eyes turning even redder from the pressure.

Qin Mu’s strength hadn’t fully recovered yet. The person in his arms was restless, nearly escaping several times. Listening to Jian Yunchen’s anxious accusations, the pushing and hitting fists felt as if they were landing on his heart.

Pushed somewhere unknown, Qin Mu’s face suddenly turned pale, and cold sweat broke out on his forehead. He frowned painfully and sucked in a cold breath.

Jian Yunchen immediately quieted down.

He no longer dared to move. Remembering that the wounds on Qin Mu’s body hadn’t fully healed, his own face turned even paler than Qin Mu’s. He peeked out, seeing Qin Mu leaning against his shoulder with a deep frown. The anger from being deceived and kept in the dark was entirely replaced by worry, and even his voice softened considerably.

Jian Yunchen gently stroked Qin Mu’s cheek and said softly, “Does the wound hurt? Did I hit it just now? Is it bleeding? I’ll go call the doctor now.”

Seeing the person about to turn and run again, Qin Mu narrowed his eyes. He wrapped his arm around Jian Yunchen’s waist and let out two painful moans: “Don’t… don’t move, I’m a bit dizzy…”

“Dizzy?” Jian Yunchen’s face was white. He felt from Qin Mu’s forehead to his cheek, his fingertips icy cold. “Is it low blood sugar? I’ll call the doctor over—”

“No need.” Qin Mu tilted his head to gently nuzzle Jian Yunchen’s palm. His soft palm pressed close to his cheek. Qin Mu gripped his hand and raised his eyes to look at him.

Qin Mu turned his head to kiss Jian Yunchen’s palm. His gaze, unabashedly predatory, looked straight at him as he whispered seductively, “Stay and lie down with me for a while, okay?”

Jian Yunchen’s Adam’s apple bobbed. The rationality in his brain turned into a buzzing sound that struck his heart over and over, hoping the heart’s owner could stay conscious. However, it was as if his mind had been snatched away by Qin Mu’s captivating eyes; his consciousness drifted as he nodded.

By the time he regained his senses, he was already lying on the bed, held tightly in an embrace from behind by Qin Mu.

Although it was a private room, the space wasn’t cramped at all. Yet his back was pressed firmly against a hot chest. Warm breath fanned over the back of his neck. As soon as Jian Yunchen struggled slightly, he was wrapped even tighter.

Jian Yunchen frowned slightly. Before he could say anything, a voice suddenly sounded from behind him.

“Forgive me just this once, okay?”

Jian Yunchen gave a cold huff, but his struggling hands retracted obediently, leaning gently into the embrace of the man behind him.

Qin Mu curled his lips slightly, holding the person in his arms even tighter.

“Since I was young… I’ve been used to relying on myself, and used to only believing in myself. I thought I had the ability to handle everything well. If I didn’t, I wanted to bear all the consequences alone…”

Qin Mu’s voice was very soft, yet it struck heavily into Jian Yunchen’s heart.

These words hovered uncertainly in his heart, making his heart tighten along with them.

He carefully turned around, caressing Qin Mu’s cheek and staring fixedly into his eyes: “But you have me now… I don’t want you to bear the consequences alone. Jiang Sheng being pushed off the building—that responsibility isn’t yours alone. In fact, a part of it is mine. If I hadn’t deliberately gone to argue with him, he wouldn’t have thought… that I was still entangled with Qin Zheng, which ignited his rage…”

Qin Mu’s eyes flickered. He lowered his head slightly, his falling hair obscuring his features. Only Jian Yunchen could clearly see the emotions shimmering in those eyes.

“You thought he knew I was the one behind the acquisition? That’s why you argued with Jiang Sheng?” He paused. “What did you argue with him about? Did you tell him that all of this was actually your idea?”

Jian Yunchen pressed his lips together tightly. His long lashes drooped listlessly, hiding the expression in his eyes.

Qin Mu reached out to gently caress his cool cheek. “What did he say?”

Jian Yunchen’s long lashes trembled, and he slowly looked up again into those tender eyes.

Qin Mu’s eyes were always very deceptive. But what Jian Yunchen was absolutely certain of was that at this moment, the heartache in the eyes Qin Mu looked at him with was not fake, the concern was not fake, and the affection was not fake either.

He hid in Qin Mu’s embrace, recalling what Jiang Sheng had said to him that day.

“He’s a bad person,” Jian Yunchen complained in a muffled voice in his arms. “He said nobody loves me. He’s lying.”

He paused and buried his face deeper.

“Qin Mu, you are loving me well.”
