Chapter 13#
I am not Jiang Yunhan.#
Jian Yunchen came to his senses, gripped his wrist, and leaned back gently into the embrace of the person behind him.
The eerie aura that had just begun to rise from Qin Mu suddenly dissipated, returning to its usual state.
Jian Yunchen shot a faint glance at Ma Huidong, and a meaningful smile suddenly curled on his lips. Leaning against Qin Mu’s chest, his tone was slow and lazy, saturated with a sense of mockery: “Ah… I’m so scared.”
“If you hadn’t appeared in front of me, maybe, if I were in a good mood, I would have let you go.”
“But you just had to go and crash right into me.”
Jian Yunchen’s lips curled up, his smile gentle and beautiful, yet the depths of his eyes were a bottomless pit of coldness.
He leaned closer to Qin Mu’s ear, his voice soft and slow: “Young Master Qin, let me give you a gift.”
Ma Huidong’s family was in the clubhouse business, and they had been doing quite well these past few years; several clubhouses under their name were quite successful. The Qin Corporation didn’t have much involvement in the entertainment venue sector, but he figured Qin Mu would be happy to have one less competitor.
Jian Yunchen’s fingertips hooked a small silver USB drive out of his pocket, dangling it lightly before Qin Mu’s eyes.
Qin Mu’s eyebrows arched slightly, watching his movements with great interest.
“Consider it a return for your gift.” He tossed the USB drive lightly into Qin Mu’s lap.
Qin Mu raised a hand, catching the falling drive, his gaze landing on it as his fingers reflexively flipped it over.
“A return?” Qin Mu held the person firmly in his arms, his breath brushing against Jian Yunchen’s cheek: “You think you can settle the score with just this little thing?”
Jian Yunchen didn’t dodge; he tilted his head to meet Qin Mu’s eyes. To an outsider, the posture looked quite intimate, but only the two of them knew that neither of their bodies was yielding; they were both subtly testing each other’s strength.
“Not enough? Then what does Young Master Qin want?”
“Don’t you already know what I want?”
Jian Yunchen suddenly laughed, his face slowly moving a bit closer. He lowered his eyelashes, one hand gently stroking Qin Mu’s cheek, his gaze drifting slowly over his features. He whispered: “Young Master Qin, why exactly did you call me out today?”
Qin Mu looked down at Jian Yunchen in his arms. “Jiang Yunhan looked for me. Did you appear before him on purpose?”
Jian Yunchen’s expression didn’t change, and the smile on his lips deepened as he frankly admitted: “Yes.”
He looked up at him, every word clear: “I know Young Master Qin won’t let me down, right?”
“In return, I will naturally do some things to make Young Master Qin happy.”
He leaned into Qin Mu’s ear and whispered: “For example, finding a bit of trouble for Jiang Yunhan and Qin Zheng—how about letting you take advantage of the crisis?”
Qin Mu’s lips quirked into a smile. He couldn’t help but rub his palm up and down against that small patch of skin on the other’s waist. The supple muscle was taut beneath his palm; even through the thin layer of clothing, he could firmly imprint his body heat onto it. He hummed a couple of times casually, seemingly fond of the sensation under his hand.
The perfunctory response made Jian Yunchen frown slightly. He pressed against Qin Mu’s chest and looked up. Inadvertently, beneath Qin Mu’s idle expression, he caught a glimpse of a trace of tenderness. Jian Yunchen instantly froze in place, his entire body going stiff.
He suddenly realized that Qin Mu was also an ordinary person with emotions.
He could also be tender and considerate, it was just that those things were reserved for Jiang Yunhan. He only occasionally caught a tiny bit of the benefit because he had a face extremely similar to Jiang Yunhan’s. What Qin Mu usually gave him was only the ruthlessness and madness of their first meeting.
Possessing a face so similar to his beloved—Qin Mu must have been disgusted by it for a long time, right?
At that moment, Jian Yunchen felt as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over him, making him shiver from the literal chill.
So, this was actually how Qin Mu looked when he treated someone he liked.
He even wanted to laugh out loud at him for actually losing to Qin Zheng.
But at the same time, deep in his heart, a surge of bitterness emerged that he couldn’t quite explain.
He thought it might be jealousy.
Jian Yunchen’s face suddenly turned cold and dark. He shoved him away abruptly, his tone hostile: “I am not Jiang Yunhan.”
The warmth in his arms suddenly vanished. Qin Mu blinked, a hint of confusion appearing in his eyes.
Jian Yunchen looked straight at him, emphasizing every word: “Don’t you dare treat me as him.”
He turned around with a cold face and walked away.
Qin Mu: “……”
Left alone on the spot, Qin Mu didn’t immediately understand Jian Yunchen’s train of thought. He hadn’t mistaken Jian Yunchen for Jiang Yunhan.
As the figure disappeared from sight, Qin Mu slowly retracted his gaze and gave a cold laugh. He tossed the cold USB drive up with one hand, his gaze looking coldly at Ma Huidong.
Ma Huidong: “……”
Regrettably, as for the car Qin Mu won back, the owner never gave it a second glance. However, before leaving, Qin Mu did take a good look at Ma Huidong.
Ma Huidong was slumped on the ground, his face black and blue, breathing more out than in. Qin Mu sat not far from him, boredly spinning the USB drive in his hand.
Seeing that time was about up, Qin Mu stood up and stretched.
He ignored the person on the ground and walked straight out.
He drove back to his currently newly-opened office.
The office wasn’t large and had only a few people. It was a new company he had co-founded under a joint name with Qin Qiaosen. The new company was currently under renovation, so they could only make do in this office for a few days.
When he returned, Qin Qiaosen hadn’t left yet. He was sitting at the desk tapping on the keyboard, chatting heatedly with someone on WeChat.
Since the last banquet when Qin Yanchen said Qin Qiaosen needed to reflect at home, he had effectively been suspended. No one had reinstated him, but he wasn’t worried; he came to help Qin Mu every day.
Qin Mu pushed the door open, his hair a bit messy. Qin Qiaosen turned to look at him.
“Bro, what were you and Yunhan talking about? You spent the whole day together before you were willing to come back.”
Qin Mu looked up at the sky outside the window. It was near dusk, and the horizon had grown dim.
He sat in his chair and ran a hand through his messy hair, not taking the bait of the other’s teasing.
“Go check on a person named Jian Yunchen. Get the information to me within two days.”
While speaking, Qin Mu plugged the USB drive into his computer. The data inside was clearly categorized. With a slide of the mouse, Qin Mu first opened the category labeled “Transactions.”
It was filled with an array of various photos. It seemed Jian Yunchen hadn’t been idle during his month at “Dream.”
After a couple of glances, Qin Mu’s lips curled. It was indeed a very large “gift.”
The computer’s glow was reflected in Qin Mu’s light-colored pupils. Paired with his smile, it looked eerie and cold. Watching him, Qin Qiaosen felt it was inexplicably creepy.
“Jian Yunchen? Who’s that?”
Qin Mu scrolled with the mouse, answering casually: “A first-year in the Finance Department at A University. Don’t get it wrong, and try to make your movements as big as possible.”
Even faced with such an unreasonable request, Qin Qiaosen didn’t ask further. His virtue was not asking what shouldn’t be asked.
A series of WeChat notification sounds rang out from the opposite side. Qin Mu frowned, his tone impatient: “What are you chatting about?”
Holding his phone, Qin Qiaosen pushed his rolling chair and slid over to Qin Mu’s side, showing him the group chat on his screen.
There weren’t many people in the group chat, but they were very active. In a matter of seconds, several messages refreshed continuously.
Qin Mu looked up and saw those large characters in the group nickname:
【Yan Yi’s Homecoming Surprise Banquet】
Qin Mu: “……”
The character Yan Yi didn’t even count as cannon fodder in the original text; she was merely the goddess Qin Qiaosen had a crush on for many years. She had gone abroad to study at a very young age and was about to return soon.
After her return, Qin Qiaosen would launch a passionate pursuit, directly scaring her back abroad again.
Qin Mu’s lips twitched. Seeing Qin Qiaosen’s look of being deeply in love, he couldn’t help but turn his head away.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to stop himself from laughing at him.
