Chapter 125#

Qin Mu’s Secret#

Yan Junxing gave a slight nod in response, his gaze turning several degrees colder when it landed on Jian Yunchen.

He frowned slightly, a hint of displeasure surfacing in his heart.

Under Jian Yunchen’s operation, “Jiang Ming” had caused him no small amount of trouble.

It was either factory re-inspections or reporting defective batches, forcing his team to work overtime again and again.

However, Yan Junxing didn’t truly take such petty squabbles to heart.

The one who was truly infuriating was someone else.

He took a half-step forward and lightly patted Jian Yunchen on the shoulder. His eyes seemed to show appreciation for a junior, but the smile on his lips was merely skin-deep.

“Manager Jian of Jiang Ming, truly—young and promising.”

Jian Yunchen raised his eyes to meet his gaze calmly. There wasn’t a hint of fear in those bright black eyes, and a composed, faint smile played on his lips.

He nodded slightly and smoothed out his lapel where it had been patted. His posture was respectful, but his words were anything but polite: “I am indeed very young.”

Yan Junxing’s face darkened instantly.

Even Qin Zheng, standing behind him, frowned in displeasure, his sharp gaze shooting toward Jian Yunchen.

Yan Junxing narrowed his eyes slightly, the fine lines at the corners of his eyes twitching. A dangerous aura emanated from him as his voice lowered: “Jian Yunchen, since you want to protect Qin Mu, you’d better hide him well.”

A dark glint flashed through Jian Yunchen’s eyes, but his expression remained unchanged, his tone feigning ignorance: “What are you saying? Why would Qin Mu be with me?”

“Heh.” The young man’s pretense was like a clumsy performance in his eyes. He let out a cold laugh: “Last time, for your sake, he even used Qin Linze’s connections. That girl Yan Yi might not see through it, but I saw it very clearly—”

Jian Yunchen paused, truly bewildered for a moment.

He said impassively, “Oh, you mean that? I didn’t ask him to do that—”

“Don’t act like a victim after getting a bargain!” Yan Junxing interrupted dismissively. “That last shipment—without Qin Mu pulling strings behind the scenes, do you think you could have sat so comfortably in the position of manager at Jiang Ming?”

Jian Yunchen glanced at Qin Zheng; Qin Zheng paused and averted his gaze.

Jian Yunchen looked back and curled his lips into a smile. Mimicking Yan Junxing’s manner, he whispered in a low voice, “President Yan, you’re right. I feel the same way—if I didn’t protect Qin Mu properly, I truly wouldn’t feel comfortable in this position. Otherwise, wouldn’t I be called an ungrateful wolf?”

He paused, the smile in his eyes deepening.

“Don’t worry. I will definitely… take good care… of him.”

Yan Junxing’s face darkened completely.

Jian Yunchen watched his gloomy expression with pleasure, the smile on his lips widening.

“Xiao Chen!” Just as the atmosphere was growing increasingly tense, Jiang Yunhan suddenly appeared. Thin beads of sweat dotted his forehead, and his breathing was slightly ragged, as if he had rushed over.

He gripped Jian Yunchen’s wrist, carefully pulling him behind his back, and gave a slight nod to Yan Junxing: “President Yan.”

Yan Junxing’s expression softened slightly. Looking at the twins before him, a playful smile spread in his eyes.

“They really do look exactly the same,” Yan Junxing said in a slighting tone. “I wonder if Qin Zheng and Qin Mu can tell them apart.”

He turned to face Qin Zheng, his eyes full of mischief: “You’re someone about to get married; you need to be more steady and careful. If you accidentally mistake one for the other and go into the wrong room, it would be no small matter.”

Jian Yunchen’s face turned icy cold. His brows pressed down, and his hands clenched into fists. He stared at the man with an unmasked, sinister gaze.

“President Yan!” Jiang Yunhan stepped aside to block Jian Yunchen’s line of sight. Gripping Jian Yunchen’s wrist tightly, he faced Yan Junxing: “There’s no need for you to worry about that. Qin Zheng,” he looked at Qin Zheng warningly, “take President Yan to the inner hall. We can’t have a guest standing here the whole time.”

Qin Zheng paused. He knew in his heart that Yan Junxing’s words were truly indecent, and that Jiang Yunhan was angry.

He pulled on Yan Junxing’s arm and whispered, “Uncle, let’s go inside.”

Yan Junxing turned his head to scan the two of them, his gaze lingering on Jian Yunchen’s face. He let out a cold snort before turning to leave.

Qin Zheng followed closely behind.

Now that there were fewer eyes on them, Jian Yunchen abruptly shook off Jiang Yunhan’s hand. The frost on his face had not faded as he looked at him defensively.

“You’re getting married to Qin Zheng?” He looked coldly at Jiang Yunhan. “Have you decided to side with him completely?”

Jiang Yunhan looked at him with a hurt expression, his face turning slightly pale.

“Xiao Chen, I haven’t. Believe me just once…”

“Fine,” Jian Yunchen pressed closer, his eyes boring into him. “Then tell me, what are you trying to do?”

He stared intently into Jiang Yunhan’s eyes, not letting a single flicker of expression escape him.

“Is it… for the evidence?”

Jiang Yunhan’s eyelashes trembled slightly, and he subconsciously lowered his eyes.

Seeing this reaction, Jian Yunchen knew his guess was almost certainly correct. He cursed “Idiot” under his breath.

His voice dropped even lower: “Are you insane? Marrying a beast like that just for evidence?”

Jiang Yunhan frowned slightly and said softly, “Is Qin Zheng really that bad?”

“Heh.” Jian Yunchen let out a cold laugh, his lips curling.

“He’s the best man in the world; you’d better cherish him.”

Even Jiang Yunhan could hear the sarcasm in his words.

He sighed softly, looked around the room, and silently pulled Jian Yunchen away from public view.

“I know where Qin Zheng found the evidence.”

Jian Yunchen’s furrowed brow relaxed as he turned to look at him. “Where?”

Jiang Yunhan pursed his lips. “Jian Jinbao.”

“It turns out he had been keeping that contract hidden all this time.”

Jian Yunchen’s eyes trembled, his voice dry. “Jian Jinbao? Qin Zheng found Jian Jinbao?”

Jiang Yunhan nodded.

“Then…” A growing sense of dread filled Jian Yunchen’s heart. “Then where is Jian Jinbao now…”

Jiang Yunhan frowned sadly and pointed behind him. “He’s inside right now.”

Jian Yunchen’s heart skipped a heavy beat.

Not only was he released, but he was right here?

The moment this fact surfaced in his mind, all the hatred and fear from the past came rushing back. He clenched his teeth and stared fixedly at the inner hall, his eyes reddening.

The next instant, he started striding toward the inner hall.

He had only taken one step before Jiang Yunhan stopped him.

Jiang Yunhan was scared out of his wits. He hurriedly blocked him, saying urgently, “Xiao Chen, calm down! Yan Yi is in there too. She wants to protect Jian Jinbao right now. If you move against him, you’ll be making an enemy of the Yan family!”

“Do you think I’m still afraid of him?” Jian Yunchen’s eyes were bloodshot, and his voice was trembling. “I was afraid when I was a child, but do I still have to be afraid now?!”

Jiang Yunhan flinched in fear, gripping tighter as his mind raced: “What will happen to Qin Mu then!”

As soon as these words were spoken, the fire of Jian Yunchen’s anger was strangely extinguished by more than half.

Seeing it was working, Jiang Yunhan continued, “You know the current situation. Yan Yi is just waiting for you to make a mistake. If something happens to you, what will happen to Qin Mu?”

Qin Mu’s smiling eyes appeared in Jian Yunchen’s mind, extinguishing the remaining half of his fury.

He let his hand drop weakly, biting his lower lip as he trembled slightly, a faint red tinge appearing at the corners of his eyes.

Jiang Yunhan let go helplessly, his lips parting and closing as he tried frantically to comfort him.

Jian Yunchen hung his head, refusing to look at him at all.

Suddenly, a spark of inspiration hit Jiang Yunhan, and his eyes brightened.

He leaned in close to Jian Yunchen’s ear. “I’ll tell you a secret. A secret about… Qin Mu.”
