Chapter 124#
“I am the big villain, specializing in eating little scoundrels.”#
Qin Mu pushed the door open and entered the room. The dim light filtering through the thick curtains outlined the slightly undulating silhouette on the bed. Jian Yunchen was lying on his side with his back to the door, the curve of his shoulder blades faintly visible beneath the thin quilt.
Hearing the movement, his ears twitched, and he turned his head to open his eyes.
Upon seeing Qin Mu, Jian Yunchen gave a soft snort. The fluffy quilt slowly slid down his spine, revealing a patch of smooth skin. Qin Mu climbed onto the bed, and in the next second, Jian Yunchen pressed himself into his embrace.
Jian Yunchen leaned against his chest with his eyes closed, speaking lazily: “What happened when you went out?”
Qin Mu pinched the red invitation in his hand and lightly tapped Jian Yunchen’s forehead, a hint of playful mockery flashing in his eyes. “A joyous occasion.”
A joyous occasion?
When these words reached Jian Yunchen’s ears, he opened his eyes and looked at Qin Mu in confusion.
What kind of joyous occasion could happen during this period of time?
His attention was quickly drawn to the red card resting on his forehead. He took it down, and at the first glance upon opening it, his eyes suddenly widened.
His sleepiness vanished, and his mind cleared instantly.
He propped himself halfway up, his eyes scanning the invitation. Even though the names of the engaged couple were engraved so prominently and clearly on the side, he still found it hard to believe.
Jian Yunchen looked at Qin Mu, seeking confirmation subconsciously: “Jiang Yunhan is getting engaged to Qin Zheng?”
“Since when?”
Qin Mu couldn’t help but laugh. “I only found out a few minutes earlier than you, okay?”
Jian Yunchen was speechless. He turned his gaze back to the invitation, his brow furrowing deeper. His fingertips tightened slightly as a suspicion began to surface in his mind.
Qin Mu snatched the invitation away, raising an eyebrow teasingly. “It’s next Friday. Are you that anxious…”
Jian Yunchen paused, then looked up and glared at him. “What? Are you sad that your first love is getting married?”
Qin Mu froze for a moment; he had almost forgotten his “infatuated simp” persona. He laughed until he was leaning against Jian Yunchen’s shoulder, his mind filled with the other’s vinegar-soaked words.
Jian Yunchen only felt that he was being provoked.
His face chilled. “It’s no use being reluctant.” Jian Yunchen poked Qin Mu’s shoulder with his fingertip, gritting his teeth as he said coldly: “You are only allowed to like me.”
His tone couldn’t hide how much he cared.
Qin Mu’s eyes curved. He tightened his grip around Jian Yunchen’s waist and pressed his palm against the back of Jian Yunchen’s neck, slowly sliding it down. His hot palm traveled all the way over those mottled scars—some deep, some shallow, crisscrossing one another.
The sensation of the scars being touched was too sensitive. Jian Yunchen couldn’t help but let out a soft hum, trembling slightly as he shrank into Qin Mu’s arms.
Qin Mu buried his face in the side of the other’s shoulder, his eyes dark. He stroked the scars on Jian Yunchen’s back with a touch that was almost ethereal, his tone devoid of its usual flippancy. “I have only ever liked you.”
“There has never been anyone else… only you.”
Jian Yunchen’s heartbeat was easily thrown into disarray by these two sentences. He held Qin Mu even tighter. “Then in the future, it can only be me.”
Qin Mu curled his lips into a smile.
“Little greedy ghost.”
Jian Yunchen looked up at him in disbelief: “Don’t tell me you want to like others? Qin Mu—”
Qin Mu pinched his cheek, cutting off the unfinished words. Jian Yunchen frowned at him.
Only to hear Qin Mu say: “I promise you.”
Qin Mu looked into his eyes with a smile: “It can only be you.”
The fire in Jian Yunchen’s heart hadn’t been that high to begin with, and it vanished just like that. He looked at Qin Mu expectantly, his eyes shimmering with a sense of satisfaction and pleasure he hadn’t even realized himself. Jian Yunchen tried hard to keep his lips tight, but after enduring for a while, he couldn’t help it and dove into Qin Mu’s arms with a smile.
Qin Mu laughed too, his peripheral vision drifting toward the ignored invitation that had been tossed aside.
He reached out and picked it up. Jian Yunchen poked his head out from his arms to look at the invitation with him.
The two names on the front page were placed side by side, looking incredibly well-matched. A faint smile hung on the corner of Qin Mu’s mouth, his tone neither good nor bad: “The protagonists are together. We’re almost at the grand finale.”
Jian Yunchen raised an eyebrow, looking at him with dissatisfaction: “What protagonists? If Jiang Yunhan is the protagonist, then what am I?”
Qin Mu looked down at Jian Yunchen, who was obediently in his arms, the smile on his lips deepening. He pinched the soft flesh on Jian Yunchen’s cheek and teased, “You little scoundrel, you’re the little villain, of course.”
Jian Yunchen’s frown deepened. He grabbed Qin Mu’s wrist and looked up at him with a glare: “If I’m the little villain, what are you?”
The smile on Qin Mu’s face widened. He leaned down close, tilted Jian Yunchen’s chin up, and bit gently on Jian Yunchen’s soft cheek. “I am the big villain, specializing in eating little scoundrels.”
“Ugh!” Jian Yunchen gave a start of surprise, the corners of his eyes flushing a faint red. Qin Mu’s words echoed in his ears, and the air around him was filled with Qin Mu’s scent, causing his body to respond. Jian Yunchen lifted his waist and moved closer, pressing against him.
He buried his face by Qin Mu’s ear and whispered slowly: “Then… does this count as us colluding in evil?”
Qin Mu pinched his waist and suddenly hoisted him up.
The waist that wanted to retreat was held firmly by him. His palms slid down, kneading with varying degrees of pressure. The sensitive body trembled softly under his touch, and even the gently escaping breaths seemed like a temptation.
Qin Mu pressed close to his ear, their hot chests meeting: “At most, this counts as…”
“The husband following where the husband leads?”
Jian Yunchen was stunned. Before he could react to the meaning behind the words, he was dragged under the covers.
The engagement banquet a week later arrived as scheduled.
It was held with no lack of grandeur.
Jian Yunchen handed over the invitation and was successfully let through. As soon as he entered the venue, the first person he saw was Qin Zheng.
Qin Zheng had swept away his previous dejection. He was full of energy and radiant, his spirit looking many times better than before. From top to bottom, he radiated the words “smug and self-satisfied.”
A flash of coldness passed through Jian Yunchen’s eyes.
He had framed Qin Mu for bribery, causing Qin Mu to still be under investigation even now, yet he himself was getting married first.
If he was allowed to enjoy these good days first, wouldn’t that be outrageous?
He walked toward Qin Zheng.
Qin Zheng’s gaze paused slightly when it landed on Jian Yunchen. The smile on his lips was quickly suppressed. He frowned inwardly and looked away. “Jian Yunchen, I thought you wouldn’t come.”
Jian Yunchen smiled. “How could I not come to my brother’s wedding? No matter how busy I am, I will definitely find the time.”
Qin Zheng frowned in disgust and swept a cold glance over him.
Jian Yunchen clearly meant more than what he was saying. He didn’t look like he was here for a wedding, but rather to cause trouble.
Jian Yunchen blinked innocently. Before he could say anything more, Qin Zheng’s expression suddenly changed, becoming much more respectful. His gaze passed over him to look behind him.
Qin Zheng nodded slightly and called out softly, “Uncle Yan.”
Jian Yunchen couldn’t help but be drawn to look.
The man being addressed had handsome features, his lips pulled into a very straight line, and there was a faint furrow between his brows. His entire being radiated an aura of natural authority without being angry. Standing there, he seemed to carry an innate air of detachment.
Jian Yunchen’s gaze froze slightly. Yan Junxing had come as well.
