Chapter 122#

Solving It Once and For All#

Jiang Sheng’s expression, already unsightly, darkened even further upon hearing those words.

He, who usually placed extreme importance on his dignity, now had disheveled hair and a slightly open collar. It was obvious he had rushed to “Jiangming” in a great hurry.

Jian Yunchen scrutinized Jiang Sheng’s rare state of disarray from head to toe. In his mind, he pictured the scene of Jiang Sheng rushing to the lobby of the “Jiangming” building, only to find his credentials revoked and being forced to follow Jiang Yunhan just to get upstairs. The amusement in his eyes couldn’t help but resurface.

Only this time, it carried a hint of mockery.

“Everyone out,” Jiang Sheng said in a low, pressed voice, his eyes fixed on Jian Yunchen as if they held a basin of fire.

As soon as he spoke, several people moved to head out the door.

Jian Yunchen curled his lips slightly, looking like someone who enjoyed watching the chaos unfold. He drawled out a question:

“In what capacity are you ordering my employees right now?”

“As the suspended CEO Jiang?”

“Or as my father?”

The atmosphere suddenly froze for a few seconds.

The entire conference room was filled with a deathly silence. The others even slowed their breathing, terrified of becoming the innocent fish caught in the crossfire.

“Didn’t you hear me? I said everyone get out!” Jiang Sheng growled, suppressing his fury.

His residual authority in the company still lingered. Soon, everyone filed out one after another, not daring to stop for a second.

The heavy doors were slowly closed. Jiang Yunhan was about to speak when Jiang Sheng didn’t even give him a glance: “You get out too.”

Jiang Yunhan’s eyes widened slightly. “Dad!”

“Get out!” Jiang Sheng snapped, glaring at him.

Jiang Yunhan’s lips moved tentatively, his worried gaze shifting toward Jian Yunchen. Jian Yunchen, however, had a mocking, cold smile on his face, his eyes filled with a layer of icy frost.

Jiang Yunhan felt a sharp tug at his heart.

After hesitating for a long while, Jiang Yunhan finally retreated outside.

Only the two of them remained in the room.

Jiang Sheng sat down opposite him and looked at him quietly. After a long silence, he finally spoke: “Qin Mu is with you, isn’t he?”

Jian Yunchen leaned back against the chair, smiling faintly with a playful glint in his eyes. He drawled out a long answer: “Take a guess—”

Jiang Sheng suddenly slammed the table, the rage on his face no longer hidden: “Jian Yunchen! Don’t think that just because Qin Mu is helping you, everything will be fine! Qin Mu can’t even save himself right now! You’re the only one still clutching onto such a hot potato. You know better than anyone that the so-called coercion and kidnapping were fabricated out of thin air! I will return sooner or later. No matter who ‘Jiangming’ is handed over to, it won’t be your turn to call the shots!”

Jian Yunchen looked at the fury in the older man’s eyes, meeting his gaze without a hint of fear.

“Whether Qin Mu can save himself is not your concern. You should worry about yourself first. In case you didn’t know, I’ll be kind enough to tell you: while you were under investigation, nearly 20% of the company’s shares were acquired.”

His tone suddenly softened, sounding almost troubled, yet his eyes were provocative: “And now, the new owner specifically named me—the person you want here least—to call the shots.”

As Jiang Sheng listened to those provocative words, the fire in his heart burned hotter. He clenched his jaw, and faint red veins began to crawl into his eyes: “Jian Yunchen! I think you’ve gone mad, helping an outsider to—”

“An outsider?” Jian Yunchen let out a cold sneer.

He lifted his chin, his jawline tensing into a sharp arc: “Get this straight. My surname is Jian. I am the outsider.”

“CEO Jiang.”

The sudden reversal of their positions was something Jiang Sheng truly could not accept. The deliberate emphasis on the title “CEO Jiang” felt like two loud slaps across his face.

As if that wasn’t enough, Jian Yunchen curled his lips into a wicked smile and looked at him dismissively: “I misspoke. I can’t call you ‘CEO Jiang’ anymore. You can’t afford to be called that by me.”

Jiang Sheng’s face turned black. He stared at Jian Yunchen with a dark expression for several seconds before abruptly standing up.

The chair scraped against the floor with an incredibly harsh, piercing sound, but it couldn’t dampen the delight in Jian Yunchen’s eyes.

Jiang Sheng turned around and yanked the door open. Jiang Yunhan immediately turned to look inside the room.

Jiang Sheng glanced at Jian Yunchen and said in a cold, hard voice, “You will regret this.”

Jian Yunchen propped his chin on his hand, a quiet smile lingering on his face, though there was no warmth in his eyes.

He replied unhurriedly, “Of course. Regret is something for the future. I just hope that next time, you won’t come here before your position is restored. Otherwise, if this happens again, do you think I should punish the security guards downstairs or not?”

Jiang Sheng’s fingertips tightened on the doorknob until his knuckles turned white. He turned to give Jian Yunchen’s smug face one last cold stare, then walked straight out without another word.

Jian Yunchen watched his back, and the playful smile vanished. He turned to Jiang Yunhan and said meaningfully, “You’re quite capable, actually getting him out.”

Jiang Yunhan stood there, his pale lips pursed. He hadn’t expected that the second after he bailed his father out, Jiang Sheng would charge straight to “Jiangming” to confront Jian Yunchen. “Qin Zheng… found that document…”

“Qin Zheng?” Jian Yunchen frowned. He never imagined that the key evidence to get Jiang Sheng out would be found by Qin Zheng.

“Where did he find it?”

Jiang Yunhan shook his head, frowning. “I don’t know… he refuses to tell me… Xiao Chen…”

Jian Yunchen furrowed his brows impatiently and glared at him. “Didn’t you say you’d give me evidence in exchange for me not interfering? Where is it?”

Jiang Yunhan looked away guiltily, stammering, “Soon… I have a way to get it…”

Jian Yunchen folded his arms, his brow lowering. His good mood had been completely shattered by Jiang Sheng’s sudden appearance.

He didn’t take Jiang Yunhan’s words to heart. How could Jiang Yunhan possibly get his hands on such vital evidence?

Qin Mu, who hadn’t received a reply to his messages for a long time, sat on the sofa hugging a cushion, a slight frown on his face.

He lay back on the sofa, holding his phone with both hands. His fingers moved quickly as he sent a string of messages, but they were all like stones sinking into the ocean, receiving no reply.

Just a second before he was about to make a call.

Qin Mu received a message from “Ji Weiyi.”

His eyes swept over it. He suddenly sat up, cursed softly, and dialed Ji Weiyi’s number the next instant.

The other party picked up quickly.

“President Shan—”

“Why did you only get the news now?” Qin Mu asked coldly.

Ji Weiyi paused for a second. “It was Qin Zheng who posted bail. He got his hands on key evidence.”

“Evidence?” Qin Mu frowned slightly. This hadn’t been mentioned in the original plot. “What evidence?”

“Jian Xin’s informed consent form for surrogacy.”

“Is it legally binding?”

Ji Weiyi answered cautiously, “If… it’s confirmed that Jian Xin signed it herself…”

Qin Mu stopped dwelling on the answer. His eyes turned cold, and his voice dropped:

“Then proceed according to what I told you before. We’ll solve it once and for all this time. I can’t be bothered to deal with them anymore.”

Ji Weiyi gave a light laugh and replied, “Understood.”
