Chapter 118#

True Love#

The three-hour succession meeting finally came to a successful conclusion.

After Jian Yunchen successfully negotiated the “AI medical robot” project with his own abilities, the company’s stock price quickly stabilized. Combined with Qin Zheng’s methods of manipulating public opinion, the stock price of “Jiang Ming” even showed signs of a slight rebound.

The new CEO naturally credited all of this to Jian Yunchen.

The main content of today’s meeting was to commend Jian Yunchen. In addition to granting him higher-level access permissions, the new CEO also proposed that since he had to fly abroad temporarily, all matters concerning “Jiang Ming” would be temporarily entrusted to Jian Yunchen’s full authority.

There was a collective gasp among the crowd. No one was unaware that Jian Yunchen was Jiang Sheng’s son, and the new CEO had clearly taken advantage of a crisis to climb onto the corporate stage, yet now he was delegating power back down.

No one could understand his decision, but not a single person raised an objection.

Jian Yunchen’s eyes flickered as he looked at the new CEO on the projector, whose face was not shown, frowning slightly.

He felt that such a tactic seemed exceptionally familiar.

After the meeting ended, several people refused to leave, surrounding Jian Yunchen with flattering words of congratulations.

Jian Yunchen smiled, but as he looked up, he saw a very familiar face standing outside the door.

Soon, the others in the meeting room also noticed Jiang Yunhan’s presence. The festive atmosphere vanished instantly, and everyone found various excuses to leave.

Jian Yunchen crossed his legs and tilted his chin up slightly, quietly eyeing him.

He watched as Jiang Yunhan walked in. After everyone else had departed, Jiang Yunhan locked the door behind him, walked toward him step by step, and finally stood still in front of him.

Jian Yunchen curled his lips slightly, eyeing him coldly. “Looking for me, brother?”

He spoke the title with extreme intimacy, as if reminding Jiang Yunhan that the person standing there in a winner’s posture was his own biological younger brother.

Jiang Yunhan’s fingertips tightened into a fist, his voice trembling uncontrollably. “You were the one who leaked the news about Yan Yi being Qin Zheng’s mistress and seeking revenge for love!”

“Heh.” Jian Yunchen let out a soft laugh. Coming from Jiang Yunhan’s mouth, the irony of that sentence reached its peak. “It was me. Did I say something wrong, brother?”

He sounded like a humble student asking for guidance, his tone sincere, but his eyes were filled with icy mockery.

Jiang Yunhan’s whole body began to shake. “You’ve provoked Yan Yi now. Do you know how she’ll deal with Dad? Dad is already in enough trouble, and now—”

“Of course I know,” Jian Yunchen interrupted. He rested his fingertips lightly against his jaw, his gaze cold. “If she didn’t cause some trouble for Jiang Sheng, I wouldn’t even bother going through the effort.”

With a look of pain on his face, Jiang Yunhan sat down beside Jian Yunchen and grabbed his hand. “Xiao Chen, stop this. What will it take for you to let Dad out? I’ll agree to anything you want.”

Jian Yunchen sneered and pulled his hand back. “On what grounds? Don’t tell me you didn’t know about the filth Qin Zheng threw around. How did they slander Jian Xin? How did they deal with Qin Mu? Why should I give them a peaceful life?”

Jiang Yunhan stared with wide, disbelieving eyes. His voice stalled as he shook his head repeatedly. “I didn’t know… I really didn’t know all the things Qin Zheng did…”

“You didn’t know?” Jian Yunchen couldn’t stop himself from sneering. “Fine, then I’ll make sure you know everything.”

“He was investigating me before I was even recognized. He knew about Jian Xin’s past and even tried to use it to threaten me to tell me to stay away from you.”

“He has been trying to track me ever since the cruise ended, trying to find Jian Xin’s whereabouts.”

“Qin Mu being falsely accused of bribery was his doing. The past between Jian Xin and Jiang Sheng was distorted through his manipulation. Why shouldn’t I target a man like him?”

“And then there’s you.”

He looked at Jiang Yunhan quietly, a look of disdainful mockery pulling at the corner of his mouth. “How can you still say, with a clear conscience, that you didn’t know anything? Whether it’s Jiang Sheng or Qin Zheng, haven’t you lived in the utopia they built for you long enough?”

“That protective shell shattered a long time ago. You’re the only one who keeps hiding inside, unwilling to come out.”

Jiang Yunhan’s fingertips trembled and his eyes reddened. He opened his mouth several times but closed it again.

He couldn’t argue… Jian Yunchen was right. His constant “not knowing” was nothing more than a clumsy excuse. Even when he was on the verge of the truth, he chose to retreat out of fear.

He pursed his pale, trembling lips and grabbed Jian Yunchen’s hand again. This time, his gaze was no longer lost or flickering. Jiang Yunhan struggled to control his shaking voice: “Xiao Chen, if… if I can find evidence that Qin Mu was framed, would you be willing to give Dad a chance?”

“I don’t need you to do anything!” he added hurriedly, fearing Jian Yunchen wouldn’t even give him a chance to finish. “You don’t have to do a thing. I’ll find a way to get Dad out. As long as you promise me not to interfere in this matter anymore, in exchange, I’ll find a way to get the evidence that Qin Mu was framed…”

He thought for a moment and added: “Assuming that Qin Mu really was framed…”

Jian Yunchen’s face darkened instantly. “Qin Mu was framed!”

“Okay, okay,” Jiang Yunhan replied quickly. “I’ll find the evidence. Xiao Chen, can you please stay out of this?”

After a long silence, Jian Yunchen looked at his hopeful gaze and finally nodded.

Jiang Yunhan’s grip tightened, his brow relaxed, and he began to smile.

Jian Yunchen tried to pull his hand away, but it wouldn’t budge. He looked up at him in confusion.

He saw that Jiang Yunhan looked hesitant. Jian Yunchen frowned. “What else do you want to say?”

Jiang Yunhan squeezed his hand. After much hesitation, he finally asked what was on his mind. “Xiao Chen, is Qin Mu with you right now?”

“He’s been out of contact for days. Was it… have you locked Qin Mu up?”

Jian Yunchen yanked his hand back, his eyes turning to ice. “What does it have to do with you? Just mind your own business.”

Jiang Yunhan tightened his fingers. Looking at Jian Yunchen’s tense profile and his refusal to communicate, he let out a soft sigh, pulled his chair closer, and said softly:

“Xiao Chen, since you like Qin Mu, don’t do things that will make you regret it. I told you last time, Qin Mu has feelings for you too. Why do you have to lock him up? If it’s really as you say and Qin Mu is innocent, once everything comes to light, are you going to keep him locked up for the rest of his life?”

Jian Yunchen turned to him with a frown and said coldly, “Are you trying to lecture me like a brother now?”

“Of course not,” Jiang Yunhan frowned helplessly. He said softly:

“It’s just that true love isn’t like this.”
