Chapter 112#

“Because he loves me so much he can’t leave me.”#

Early the next morning, Jian Yunchen left Qin Mu and went to work alone.

The place where Qin Mu was confined, although just a room, was fully equipped with everything he could need.

From small items like books to relieve boredom, to large things like a massage chair, and even audio equipment for singing—everything was available.

He had just come out of the bathroom, a bathrobe loosely draped over him. Beads of steam-warmed water slid down his neck, disappearing into his collarbone, and further down, vanishing into the depths of the robe.

Qin Mu walked barefoot on the floor. The lengthened iron chains piled up by his pale white feet; the cold white skin formed a strong contrast with the dark metal, exuding a sense of decadence.

The chains made a dragging sound on the floor. Even though a layer of protective fluff had been added to the inside, they still made Qin Mu’s fair wrists turn red.

77 hovered in mid-air, unable to watch any longer, and offered: [Host, I can unlock the chains on your hands.]

Qin Mu had just finished a glass of water, his Adam’s apple moving slightly. Hearing 77’s words, his movements paused.

His beautiful peach blossom eyes filled with a smile. He leaned against the table with one hand, his well-defined fingers swirling the transparent glass. The water shook slightly, and his voice held an obvious smile:

“Why unlock them?”

[Your personal freedom is being restricted. From a legal perspective—]

“Then why doesn’t he restrict others’ personal freedom?” Qin Mu asked back.

[……]

“Because he loves me so much he can’t leave me.”

Qin Mu spoke decisively, his tone even hiding a hint of showing off.

77, floating in the air, looked at him speechlessly, truly unable to understand his logic.

Qin Mu put down the glass, let out a long sigh, and said with distress: “You’re just a robot; you wouldn’t understand even if I told you. In human society, this is called love.”

77 indeed didn’t understand what love was. It stopped arguing and humbly accepted the teaching from Qin Mu.

Qin · Life Mentor · Mu curled his lips, sat on the sofa, and casually turned on the TV.

After flipping through a few channels, he unexpectedly saw the person who had just left his side this morning.

On the screen, Jian Yunchen was wearing a dark blue slim-fit suit, which accentuated his sharp shoulder lines and narrow waist. His expression was cold, his gaze calm. Standing before a crowd of reporters, he was like a newly unsheathed blade.

Qin Mu looked at his face with great interest. He had never seen Jian Yunchen like this before…

He was holding a “clarification” press conference regarding the scandal surrounding the chairman of Jiang Ming.

Jian Yunchen responded to the incident point by point, with logic, reason, and dignity.

He admitted mistakes without hesitation and announced the news of Jiang Sheng temporarily stepping down to undergo investigation.

Immediately following that, he dropped a heavy bombshell.

Jiang Ming would continue to follow up on the “Medical AI Intelligent Robot” project, and he would temporarily be in charge of leading it.

Once this news came out, there was an uproar.

The reporters seized the opportunity and began to ask questions.

“Manager Jian, the person in charge of Zhaohui was previously caught in a ‘bribery’ scandal because of this project. Why do you choose to take over at this time? Aren’t you worried about the public outcry?”

“President Jiang is currently under investigation. Is the company now under your control? Has President Jiang agreed to this decision you’ve made?”

The continuous flashing of camera lights fell on Jian Yunchen’s face. The stinging white light made him frown slightly.

He paused, then curled his lips into a distant smile:

“I’m not worried. The innocent will be cleared. There is no final conclusion on this matter yet. On the contrary, I feel there might even be a reversal.”

The lights flashing in the reporters’ hands grew even more intense: “A reversal? Manager Jian, do you know something? We heard that after Mr. Shan was released on bail, he disappeared. Do you think he’s running away or hiding?”

The smile in Jian Yunchen’s eyes deepened as he replied:

“Perhaps he was kidnapped?”

Having said this, Jian Yunchen threw out a hook but refused to say more.

The press conference ended there. In the footage, he stood up, bowed slightly, and turned to leave the stage decisively. Although he was the youngest person present, he didn’t show any stage fright, possessing a composure that shouldn’t belong to someone his age.

Off-screen, Qin Mu watched his departing back and curled his lips slightly.

He knew it. Jian Yunchen would definitely find a way.

Jian Yunchen, who had just left the press conference, retreated to a place with no one around and quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

This was his first time facing a live press conference. Before it began, he had rehearsed several times to ensure nothing went wrong. Opportunity truly favors the prepared.

While several companies were embroiled in scandals and unable to distract themselves, Jian Yunchen took the lead and found the project manager. This project was not only something Qin Mu had poured his heart into, but also a crucial step in whether “Jiang Ming” could be brought back to life.

And only by proving his ability could Jian Yunchen have the bargaining chips when the new boss took office.

That way, he could truly protect Qin Mu and find the so-called truth.

And then pour all that dirty water back onto Qin Zheng and Yan Yi.

Remembering those two annoying pests who kept jumping around, Jian Yunchen’s gaze turned cold.

Jian Yunchen remembered his promise to Qin Mu about “not touching Qin Zheng for now,” and let out a cold laugh.

Qin Mu’s revenge must be taken by himself, of course. But taking a bit of anger out for him—how could that count as “touching him”?

He didn’t feel there was any problem with finding a loophole. After all, it was because that Qin Zheng was always dancing in front of him and being annoying.

His expression grew colder. Just as he pushed open the office door, he saw someone sitting in the guest seat, who knew how long they had been waiting.

Jian Yunchen’s footsteps paused slightly as he closed the door behind him.

He unbuttoned his coat and sat across from Jiang Yunhan, looking up to ask: “Is something the matter?”

Jiang Yunhan looked at the person in front of him radiating coldness. It was clearly the same face, yet so unfamiliar it was beginning to feel terrifying.

He tightened his fingertips slightly. “Yes.”

“The report is in your hands, isn’t it?”

Jian Yunchen frowned slightly: “What report?”

“Jian Xin’s surrogacy informed consent form,” Jiang Yunhan frowned at him: “It’s with you, right?”

As the words fell, Jian Yunchen’s brow relaxed. He leaned back against the chair and tilted his chin up slightly.

“I’ve already handed it over to Jiang Sheng—”

“That was a fake.”

Jiang Yunhan looked directly at him without backing down, his eyes slightly red but stubbornly refusing to look away: “I went to check. That was a fake. The real one is in your hands, right?”

Jian Yunchen’s gaze paused, and he turned his head away, saying coldly: “I don’t know.”

“Xiaochen.” Jiang Yunhan pulled his hand over, pleading: “I know you’re angry at Dad, but now is not the time for jokes. Dad was taken away for investigation. Without that report, he might even go to prison. Without Dad, the company will fall into a crisis too.”

Jiang Yunhan gripped his hand tightly, his eyes moist. “Xiaochen, give me the report. As long as Dad is cleared of suspicion, you can have whatever you want. If you want the Jiang Group, I won’t compete with you. We can tell the truth of what happened back then together.”

As the words fell, Jian Yunchen’s face turned completely cold.

He looked directly into Jiang Yunhan’s reddened eyes and asked coldly:

“The truth? What do you think the truth is?”
