Chapter 109#

“Go live the life you want for yourself.”#

Qin Yanchen choked. He hadn’t expected an unexpected intruder to appear halfway through, and that this “Cheng Yaojin” wasn’t even Qin Mu, but Qin Yanshen.

His face suddenly chilled, his brows pressing down as he reprimanded in a low voice: “What kind of nonsense are you talking about? There are so many juniors present here. If you have any dissatisfaction, we can talk privately—”

“Who wants to talk to you privately?!” Qin Yanshen was exceptionally agitated, his face flushed red. Before the reading of the will, Qin Mu had already reached out to him, saying that Qin Yanchen wanted to monopolize everything for himself. At first, he hadn’t believed it, but now, the truth was laid bare before his eyes.

“Since we were kids, Dad was biased toward you! You were the first to enter the company for training, while we had nothing. Now that Dad is dead, you want to take everything for yourself again! Qin Yanchen! You are too greedy!”

The veins on Qin Yanchen’s temples pulsed. He didn’t know which nerve in Qin Yanshen had misfired for him to be acting up like this at such a critical juncture.

He knitted his brows impatiently and said coldly: “Then who do you want to inherit it? Qin Mu cannot inherit it; should it be given to you? You—” You idiot.

Qin Yanshen’s eyes darted around as he exchanged a look with Qin Mu. He saw the smile appearing at the corners of Qin Mu’s lips and remembered those words that had been circling his ears like a lingering temptation.

Anyone would be better than giving it to this selfish eldest brother!

“Give it to Yu Shu!”

Qin Yanshen spoke with a voice like a heavy stone hitting the ground.

The air stagnated for a second.

Qin Mu couldn’t help himself as he watched this farce; he let out a “pfft” and laughed.

Qin Yanchen’s eyes widened, wishing he could strangle him: “Give it to Yu Shu! What kind of dream are you having! She isn’t even a member of the Qin family—”

“But she is Qin Mu’s mother!” Qin Yanshen retorted. “Once Xiao Mu is out, Yu Shu can transfer the shares to Xiao Mu—”

“Idiot!” Qin Yanchen couldn’t help but roar. At this point, what was there left to not understand? This Qin Yanshen had clearly been provoked and used as a pawn by Qin Mu!

Qin Yanshen stiffened his neck and said defiantly: “What right do you have to scold me? Is there something wrong with what I said? You say Xiao Mu can’t inherit the shares right now, but there’s no problem with Sister-in-law doing it. If they’re really inherited by you, who knows if you’ll ever give them back to Xiao Mu—”

Qin Yanchen’s chest began to heave violently with rage. He glared at him with bloodshot eyes, cursing him ten thousand times in his heart.

Qin Mu laughed softly and stepped forward to interrupt the farce.

“Alright, stop arguing.”

Qin Mu walked leisurely to the center, his gaze sweeping lightly over Qin Yanchen’s face before turning to Lawyer Zhang: “Are there regulations stating that I cannot transfer them to my mother?”

Lawyer Wu’s fingertips tightened as he glanced around nervously, stammering a response: “Uh… according to the law, it is possible…”

“Then what is there to argue about?” Qin Mu curled his lips into a smile and replied lazily: “The shares are currently in my hands, aren’t they? I can give them to whoever I say, right?”

Lawyer Zhang looked at Qin Mu’s expression and nodded hesitantly.

Qin Mu pointed smilingly at Qin Yanchen.

“I have a grudge against him. Anyone else is fine, I just don’t want to give them to him.”

The air stagnated once again.

The side of Qin Yanchen’s face burned with stinging pain. Qin Mu’s words were equivalent to drawing a clear line between them in public. The accumulated rage meant he could no longer sit there with dignity; this so-called “will announcement” was nothing more than a complete humiliation targeted at him.

He stood up abruptly and walked out with a dark expression.

With the announcement of the will coming to a temporary close, Qin Mu went to Yu Shu’s room.

Yu Shu said she was leaving the day after tomorrow and had already begun packing. Things were piled up all over the room, leaving nowhere to step. Qin Mu stood with his arms crossed, leaning quietly against the doorframe, watching Yu Shu’s profile.

Yu Shu glanced up and asked while packing: “What? Changed your mind?”

Qin Mu chuckled: “No, just came to see you off.”

Yu Shu gave him a reproving look but couldn’t help herself: “After you finish handling things domestically, bring Jian Yunchen to find me abroad.”

She cut off Qin Mu’s words of refusal: “Jian Xin is still over there; could Jian Yunchen really just abandon her?”

“At that time…” Yu Shu sighed softly, her tone softening: “You should come visit me too.”

Qin Mu was silent for a moment, but eventually nodded.

Before leaving, Qin Mu handed her a share transfer contract. The money involved was enough for her and Qin Zhao to live extravagantly for several lifetimes.

Yu Shu paused, but still took it.

Qin Mu looked at her face and revealed a smile:

“Go live the life you want for yourself.”

No longer held back by those trivial matters, go live the life you truly want to live.

Hearing these words, Yu Shu’s expression froze, and her fingertips tightened slightly.

The reason for Qin Yanchen’s bail was to allow him to come out for the funeral.

Now that the funeral matters were over, he was also preparing to head back.

Qin Mu stood outside the door and lit a cigarette. The smoke blurred his expression as he enjoyed a rare moment of peace, slowly exhaling a breath.

The streetlights suddenly flickered on. On the empty street, a low-profile black car suddenly glided past.

The black car slowly pulled over in front of him. Qin Mu’s movements paused as he looked up.

The old man’s funeral was highly private; logically, no outsiders should have known about it…

The car window slowly rolled down, revealing a face.

Qin Mu’s heart skipped a beat, and the burnt ash from his cigarette fell onto his hand.

“Get in.”

Jian Yunchen said coldly.

He had lost some weight, the lines of his jaw sharper than before, and there was a faint darkness under his eyes as if he hadn’t slept well for a long time.

Qin Mu let out a helpless smile; he was really going to have to do some coaxing now.

He followed submissively and got into the car. He didn’t ask where they were going along the way, simply leaning quietly against the seat.

Jian Yunchen didn’t drive fast, but his nerves remained in a state of high tension. Ever since Qin Mu was taken away, he had spent every day driving around every location related to Qin Mu several times before being willing to go home. He didn’t believe that Qin Mu hadn’t left himself a way out; if he went in, he would definitely have a way to get himself out.

His fingertips gripped the steering wheel so hard his knuckles turned white.

He had finally waited long enough.

Upon reaching their destination, Jian Yunchen was the first to step out. Qin Mu followed him out of the car, his footsteps slightly hesitant as he looked at the unfamiliar house before him.

Jian Yunchen turned his head and gave him a fleeting look: “The Jiang family is currently under investigation and their properties are seized. This place was bought by Jiang Yunhan previously; we will stay here temporarily for the time being.”

Qin Mu smiled and stepped forward to follow him: “I didn’t say anything.”

“Is that so?” Jian Yunchen’s tone was haunting behind him.

An inexplicable chill ran down Qin Mu’s spine.

The two entered the house one after the other. The place was very tidy, but just as Jian Yunchen said, there were very few items; it really looked like someone had just moved in.

Jian Yunchen went into the kitchen and came out carrying a glass of milk.

He handed it over naturally.

Qin Mu stared at the glass of milk for a long while before finally taking it. He tilted his head back, his Adam’s apple bobbing, and the glass was soon empty.

As the empty glass was handed back, Jian Yunchen toyed with the transparent glass, his tone icy:

“Being so obedient? What if it was poison?”

Qin Mu smiled, “Then I would drink it too.”

“Smash—”

Jian Yunchen suddenly threw the glass aside. The glass shattered, making a piercing sound. His eyes were bloodshot as he stepped forward and grabbed Qin Mu by the collar, his fingertips tightening until they were pale.

His tone was harsh, yet his eyes were so red they looked ready to bleed:

“Then why, why do you always leave me?!”

Qin Mu sighed softly, just about to reach out his hand to wipe away the tears at the corner of his eye—

But his consciousness gradually turned heavy, falling into darkness.
