Chapter 108#

The Fierce Tiger Sniffs the Rose#

“I will take Jian Xin with me as well.”

The situation was turbulent. After Jiang Sheng’s affairs were exposed, he was taken away for investigation that very day. The stock price of the Jiang Corporation had already hit its daily limit down.

Jian Xin had been taken away by the relevant departments, but Yu Shu used her connections to bring her over.

Recalling the things Qin Mu had instructed her to do, she couldn’t help but tilt her head and give him a deep look.

Qin Mu curled his lips into a smile. “Thank you for your hard work. I won’t go back on what I promised you.”

Yu Shu couldn’t help but frown slightly. Qin Mu’s words seemed to draw an invisible line between them, as if her willingness to do these things was entirely for the sake of the “benefits” he had offered.

She opened her mouth, but in the end, she said nothing. After the divorce, without the shares Qin Mu had given her, she wouldn’t be able to live the life she wanted. She did indeed need the money. Thus, any words like “I didn’t do it for the money” would have just become high-sounding nonsense.

It was better not to say them at all.

The two of them walked slowly down the mountain. The mountain road was winding, and neither spoke further.

In a daze, Yu Shu realized that this seemed to be the first time since Qin Mu had reached adulthood that they had shared such a long period of quiet time alone.

Qin Mu had been independent and had his own ideas since he was a child. He was never close with his family. As for Yu Shu, she had come out of a protected ivory tower only to encounter a man like Qin Yanchen. Her disastrous marriage had left her completely unable to look after her child, as she was entirely immersed in her own world.

Yu Shu’s grip on Qin Mu’s hand tightened slightly.

Qin Mu paused and turned his head to look at her.

The words hovering on the tip of her tongue were ultimately swallowed back down. Those words were twenty years too late; saying them now would only seem affected.

“I did as you said and bought back all of Jiang Ming’s shares.” Yu Shu stopped walking and looked at him with a grave expression. “Right now, Jiang Ming’s scandal hasn’t been resolved, and its commercial value is dropping by the day. By buying so many shares in one go, you are undoubtedly throwing all your money into a pit.”

She gripped his hand, speaking earnestly:

“If you want to coax Jian Yunchen, there are ten thousand ways to do it. If you really like him, I won’t stand in your way. You can bring him to your side and do whatever you want, but is it necessary to throw all your life’s work into this?”

“It’s not certain when you’ll clear your name. By the time you get out, Jiang Ming might already be bankrupt. It’s not too late to pull out now; at most, you’ll lose a portion, which is better than losing everything.”

Qin Mu couldn’t help but laugh after hearing this.

Watching his smile, Yu Shu frowned slightly.

He arched an eyebrow at Yu Shu, whose frown was deepening: “You underestimate Jian Yunchen too much.”

Yu Shu was stunned.

“Jian Yunchen is never someone who can be manipulated. Give him just a small opportunity, and he will surely grasp it firmly and turn defeat into victory.

“I believe in him.”

Qin Mu’s voice, laced with a smile, echoed slowly through the quiet mountain forest. Looking at the smile on his lips, Yu Shu couldn’t help but want to frown; she actually detected a hint of showing off in his tone.

“And he isn’t some kind of dodder flower that needs to cling to others to grow. If I had to say what he is like…”

A deep smile danced in Qin Mu’s eyes as Jian Yunchen’s image appeared in his mind.

“He should be like the wild grass by the road, the roses climbing over the wall.”

Yu Shu pulled her hand back with a cold face. “Then what you mean is that he doesn’t need anyone’s help at all. You rushed to buy Jiang Ming and secretly pushed him up. When he actually saves Jiang Ming, the first thing he’ll do is settle accounts with the ‘black hand’ behind the scenes like you. Will he remember your kindness? It’ll be a miracle if he doesn’t turn against you!”

Her tone was heavy; she felt her son was blinded by so-called love and was frustrated that he wasn’t living up to his potential.

Qin Mu smiled nonchalantly.

“He indeed doesn’t need anyone to help.”

Yu Shu glared at him: “Then why did you do so much, even refusing to tell him your identity—”

“But I want to help.”

Yu Shu was completely choked up, the anger in her eyes gradually turning into disbelief.

“Whether he needs help and whether I want to help are two different things.”

“He is capable of getting through this crisis on his own, but if I help him, it will be a little easier for him.”

Yu Shu stared at him with wide eyes: “Just for that?”

Qin Mu nodded candidly: “Just for that.”

Yu Shu was completely speechless.

She let out a long sigh.

In the afternoon, at the Qin family estate, all the notable relatives were sitting in the living room, waiting for the lawyer to read the will in his hand.

The lawyer stood in the center. First, he scanned the crowd, his eyes lingering inconspicuously on Qin Yanchen for a moment. He gave a slight nod and pulled out the will, which was tightly wrapped in a kraft paper bag.

The will was concise and clear. It explicitly stated the percentage of assets each family member would receive after Qin Linze’s death, ranging from company shares down to villas and manors, all partitioned one by one.

As he reached the end.

Qin Yanchen’s name had still not appeared.

Many people began to exchange glances, guessing that he was likely receiving the most valuable company shares.

If Qin Linze transferred all his remaining shares to Qin Yanchen, he would become the largest shareholder of the Qin Group and naturally become the chairman.

Qin Yanshen had only received 2% of the shares. As he listened to the lawyer’s reading, the dissatisfaction in his heart grew increasingly severe.

Why was it that despite both being the old man’s children, he could only get 2% while his eldest brother could get 20%?

It wasn’t fair.

He secretly glared at Qin Yanchen’s back.

Until the lawyer read out Qin Mu’s name.

“The remaining shares shall be held entirely by Qin Mu.”

Lawyer Zhang’s words echoed clearly in the living room. Everyone’s faces showed varying degrees of shock and disbelief.

Qin Linze had already transferred a portion of the shares to Qin Mu previously. Now, after his death, he had actually transferred the remainder to Qin Mu as well.

Calculating it this way…

Qin Mu’s shareholding was actually nearly identical to Qin Yanchen’s.

In this announcement, Qin Yanchen seemed like a mere guest passing through. From beginning to end, the lawyer had not mentioned his name once, nor had he left him so much as a single coin.

Many inquisitive gazes began to subtly size him up. His face grew increasingly ashen and unsightly, his jawline clenched tight.

Qin Yanchen quickly looked up and glanced at Lawyer Zhang.

Receiving the signal, the other party quickly spoke the next sentence.

“However, as Qin Mu is currently under suspicion and investigation, negative news regarding a company shareholder would indirectly affect the company’s stock price. Mr. Qin Linze’s will explicitly stated that the company’s interests must be prioritized. Therefore, the shares that were meant to be inherited by Mr. Qin Mu shall first be inherited by his father—that is, Mr. Qin Linze’s eldest son, Qin Yanchen—”

“By what right?!”

Before the sentence was finished, it was hurriedly interrupted by a loud male voice.

Qin Yanshen stood up in a panic, the veins on his neck bulging. “You say the eldest brother inherits and so he inherits? These were originally Xiao Mu’s shares. You’re bullying the kid because he’s young and doesn’t know better, trying to scam Xiao Mu, aren’t you?!”

He turned to glare at Qin Yanchen, saying word for word:

“Big Brother! Aren’t you afraid that Dad will get so angry he’ll come looking for you in the middle of the night?!”
