Chapter 26#
Chapter 26 Clues
He Hailou woke up amidst the huge roar of the helicopter propeller.
As soon as he opened his eyes, he felt like he was floating. Someone beside him was holding him up and shouting something loudly.
He squinted hard. After the initial confusion, his thinking, along with his vision and hearing, gradually returned to normal.
“No need!”
He moved his neck, and the bones made a sour creaking sound as if they were rusty. He heard the person beside him shouting loudly into the phone: “No need for people to come down, lower the tools, I’ll take him up! Let the doctor on the plane be ready!”
They were very close.
He tried to move his body again. This time the person carrying one of his arms noticed it and turned his head: “Young Master He is awake?”
Exactly the same politeness and reserve.
He Hailou grinned and wanted to say something, but the first sound rushing out of his throat was a hoarse cough: “Cough cough… what—”
“It’s ten past eight now.” Gu Chenzhou said.
He Hailou took a deep breath, and his chest swelled with pain. He just said ‘you’, but Gu Chenzhou thought he was asking what time it was. He didn’t correct him either, just pulled a lazy smile as usual:
“Actually fainted by a monkey scratch.”
“How does Young Master He feel now?” Gu Chenzhou asked. The rescue tools had been dropped from the helicopter. Gu Chenzhou first fixed He Hailou to himself, checked and confirmed that there was no problem, and then gestured to the helicopter.
“Okay, just want a bowl of braised monkey meat.” He Hailou said slowly.
Gu Chenzhou smiled. Body against body, the two had risen to a certain height. He glanced casually at the location of the tent last night and answered: “This is not difficult to do. Does Young Master He still want that monkey?”
“Want, how can I not want it?” He Hailou said, glancing in the direction of the tent like Gu Chenzhou, grinding his teeth and sneering slightly.
The roar overhead was getting closer.
The two rose section by section in mid-air and did not continue to talk. When they reached the cabin door, a doctor in a white coat came to help. Gu Chenzhou signaled that it was not necessary, quickly released one hand and pushed back hard, bringing He Hailou along, and half of their bodies entered the cabin.
At this time, the personnel and doctors in the cabin came to help. The white coat glanced at He Hailou, quickly took his medical kit over, took out a syringe and gave He Hailou an injection first.
He Hailou squinted and made no sound.
Gu Chenzhou instructed the cabin personnel on the side a few words. The cabin personnel nodded, grabbed the tool that just pulled the two up and went out of the cabin again. In a few minutes, he brought up the various equipment left by the two on the mountainside along with the dying monkey.
The cabin door closed, and the plane moved forward.
The morning light took the mountains away, and the forest finally disappeared deep in the line of sight.
In a few days, nothing changed at the Capital Military Region Airport.
The plane landed on the tarmac, and Lin Fang and the medical staff had been waiting here for a long time. As soon as the cabin door opened, the medical staff of the military region hospital immediately moved He Hailou onto a stretcher and sent him into the ambulance, whizzing away.
Gu Chenzhou didn’t follow the car. On the plane, he personally called He Nanshan’s secretary to explain the situation. Presumably, the He family was already waiting at the hospital now.
“Young Master Gu, you’re back.” Just stepping aside and waiting for the hospital staff to take the patient away, Lin Fang walked up to Gu Chenzhou.
“Talk when we get back.” Gu Chenzhou said simply. Just as he was about to walk towards the car parking direction, he saw a man in military uniform bringing people over from a distance. He was slightly surprised and hurried forward to greet him, “Uncle Wei!”
Wei Chengbo nodded. With many years of military career, his style had always been crisp and neat: “How was the trip to Huainan these two days? What happened to the He family kid?”
“Not bad.” Gu Chenzhou laughed, “He Hailou even brought a monkey back. But when catching the monkey, he was bitten by the monkey, and the wound was a bit infected—the doctor didn’t say anything just now, it shouldn’t be a big problem.”
“En,” Hearing that He Hailou was fine, Wei Chengbo stopped paying attention and ordered Gu Chenzhou directly, “Come to the house for dinner tonight. Xiangjin went to the army and you disappeared too!”
Gu Chenzhou smiled broadly: “Even if you didn’t say it, I would go to disturb you tonight. Eating dry food for two days, fire is coming out of my throat. I’m looking forward to Auntie’s specialty soup to reduce the fire.”
Wei Chengbo’s wife Yu Yayu was a southerner and loved making soup usually.
Hearing Gu Chenzhou say this, Wei Chengbo’s expression relaxed a bit. He patted the other party’s shoulder and left with his people.
Gu Chenzhou stood in place until Wei Chengbo’s figure disappeared before taking Lin Fang into the car.
Except for a slight vibration when starting, the car was so smooth that people almost didn’t feel it the rest of the time.
Gu Chenzhou sat in the back seat with his eyes closed to rest. Lin Fang on the side lowered his voice slightly to make his voice softer and gentler: “Young Master Gu, Sun Peiming invited you to meet at National Beauty and Heavenly Fragrance at six o’clock tonight…”
“Advance it.” Gu Chenzhou spoke privately just like Wei Chengbo, always very concise, “Something to do tonight. Let him come at noon.”
But it’s already eleven o’clock now… Lin Fang muttered in his heart, but didn’t dare to make other suggestions, just obediently changed it in his notebook—two years of getting along was enough for him to understand how firm and opinionated his boss was.
“Also Second Young Master Gu and Third Young Master Shen, both called…” He flipped through the notebook again and told Gu Chenzhou the important items recorded inside one by one.
The silver-gray car passed through the familiar road. Gu Chenzhou opened his eyes after resting for a while. The scorching light melted the last trace of coolness remaining on him. The noisy crowd seemed to be able to silently suck away the tranquility of the wild even through the car glass.
He took the car back to Tianxiang Mountain. After washing and changing clothes, he drove to National Beauty and Heavenly Fragrance again. Sun Peiming was already waiting in the private room.
“Young Master Gu.” Seeing Gu Chenzhou walk in, Sun Peiming looked indifferent, but didn’t dare not to stand up to welcome him. Three months ago, he brought people here to block Gu Chenzhou, but ended up losing ten million without gaining any advantage; three months later, he had to wait for Gu Chenzhou here, with not even a single person beside him. Thinking of this, Sun Peiming was really a bit disheartened.
Gu Chenzhou’s attitude was no different from before—or even better than before. He reached out and shook hands with the other party slightly, smiling faintly: “I heard Young Master Sun wanted to see me?”
“Actually, I wanted to three days ago, but unfortunately Young Master Gu and Young Master He happened to leave the capital together.” Sun Peiming couldn’t help but reveal some sarcasm in his tone.
“That’s really unfortunate.” Gu Chenzhou said, sitting on the sofa in the private room, “What’s the matter, Young Master Sun?”
Sun Peiming understood that Gu Chenzhou had no intention of eating with him at all—actually he didn’t either—so he didn’t hypocritically call someone in to order. Anyway, his purpose of finding Gu Chenzhou was not to beg Gu Chenzhou to do anything. He just sat on the sofa opposite Gu Chenzhou and said straight to the point:
“My father will be transferred in a month.”
He paused, seeing that Gu Chenzhou didn’t express anything, and continued: “Wei Xiangjin’s car accident, the Wei family is sure that the Sun family did it… Young Master Gu, your energy is really great.”
This time Gu Chenzhou laughed: “Young Master Sun, how old are you this year?”
“You think I pulled the Wei family to fix you—are you worthy? Just something I threw away and didn’t want. It’s rare to see someone picking up trash so complacently like you. As for that car accident…” Gu Chenzhou’s gaze fixed on Sun Peiming’s face, “Might as well tell you, I don’t believe only you participated. The Sun family doesn’t have this energy yet.”
Sun Peiming’s expression moved: “Since Young Master Gu knows—”
Gu Chenzhou looked at Sun Peiming for a while: “What do I know?” He asked back, “Only have a cat’s stomach, but want to eat wolf’s food. Can’t eat it and choked, yet want to blame others?”
Sun Peiming collapsed on the sofa dejectedly: “The Wei family has no evidence!”
“If the Wei family had evidence,” Gu Chenzhou said, “Could you still be sitting here?”
Sun Peiming took two deep breaths and suddenly laughed: “Young Master Gu, your means are high. Let’s not beat around the bush. Do you want to know who set this trap?”
“Oh, the Sun family knows?” Gu Chenzhou asked.
“I don’t know. If I knew, I would have told the Wei family long ago.” Sun Peiming said, “But those with energy are just those few families back and forth, aren’t they?”
Gu Chenzhou shook his head: “Young Master Sun, if you found me here to waste time…”
“I have an interesting piece of news here.” Sun Peiming said, “It also has something to do with Young Master Gu. Presumably Young Master Gu will be satisfied.”
Gu Chenzhou raised his eyebrows.
Sun Peiming took out a photo prepared long ago and pushed it from the table to Gu Chenzhou.
Gu Chenzhou just glanced at it. The photo showed a woman in riding gear riding a horse, only showing a side profile: “This is?”
“Something from five years ago. It seems that Young Master Gu has no impression at all,” A faint sarcasm appeared on the corner of Sun Peiming’s lips, “What about this one?”
He took out another prepared photo and pushed it to Gu Chenzhou.
This time, Gu Chenzhou’s gaze touched the girl in student uniform in the photo, and then looked at the side profile of the woman in riding gear. His face finally changed slightly: “Where did you get these?”
“Who else but the person standing behind the scenes?” Sun Peiming said with a slightly strange smile, “Young Master Gu still remembers that the reason Young Master Wei left early was because he received a call halfway, right? Young Master Wei probably didn’t have time,” he smiled at Gu Chenzhou meaningfully, “Let me tell Young Master Gu. He left Tianxiang Villa early that night because he received a call from this—” he spread his hands, “beauty.”
Gu Chenzhou’s gaze moved back and forth on the two photos.
Sun Peiming said: “This beauty is probably just a romantic encounter that Young Master Gu doesn’t need to take to heart, right? But for Young Master Wei… Young Master Gu, tell me,” he said slowly, “If Young Master Wei knew that his good buddy and brother had slept with the woman he liked five years ago, what would he do? He was reluctant to even touch a finger of the other party.” He laughed again, “It’s normal to have a car accident under excitement, right? After all, he was still holding photos of his brother sleeping with his woman…”
Gu Chenzhou suddenly laughed too.
“So that’s it…” He supported his forehead with one hand and muttered to himself, “So that’s it…”
Why didn’t he return to the Gu family in the dream?
Why didn’t the Wei family appear in the dream?
It wasn’t the conflict between him and his family, nor was the Wei family too busy to take care of themselves. It was because he killed Wei Xiangjin, because they thought he killed Wei Xiangjin—because the one who created this car accident wanted to kill not only Wei Xiangjin from the beginning, but also him, Gu Chenzhou!
Solving two heirs with one car accident, what a decisive method!
Sun Peiming peeked at Gu Chenzhou’s expression and was about to speak when he saw Gu Chenzhou suddenly smash his fist on the glass table. Amidst the crackling sound, he watched dumbfounded as spider-web-like cracks spread rapidly from under Gu Chenzhou’s fist to the surroundings.
